09.01.2022 Carved Emu Egg A quintessential Australia item. The thick shell of an emu egg is actually comprised of around seven distinct layers, each being a slightly different colour than the one underneath. An expert egg carver, such as the South Australian Indigenous artist, Bluey Roberts, has highlighted each layer in this detailed, exquisite cameo carving, such as on this egg done in the late 1980’s.
