24.01.2022 Does the tinnitus treatment app really work? Visit my website for more info about Tinnitus and treatments www.tinnitustreatment.com.au. Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD... My name is DR JC Hodge I'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding a member of tinnitustreatment.com.au So does the tinnitus treatment app work for your tinnitus? I've had a biostatistician analyse the first hundred patients using a linear mix model technique and this showed that nine out of ten patients over a four week period get better. If you're severe or worse in your grade of tinnitus based on your quality of life score then that improvement is five and a half percent per week cumulative this is statistically significant! Now you will notice that as a patient over four weeks because you'll drop a band you'll go from severe to moderate or catastrophic to severe if your initial quality of life score puts you in the moderate or less band for your tinnitus from a quality of life score that cumulative statistically significant improvement is one and a half percent per week cumulative. So over four weeks that's a six percent drop that you may not notice clinically I'll notice it based on the quality of life scores and patients will also notice it because the App provides a graph showing how they're improving over that period of time the analogy i use is like is going to the gym so if you have 20 kilos to lose and you go to the gym over a month you'll notice that 3-4 kilo drop when you look at yourself if you've got 3 kilos to lose in a month you may not notice that 250 gram difference but it means you need to persevere and use the app for longer but you'll still be able to track that improvement based on the graphical representation of your quality of life scores on the app. My name is DR JC Hodge i'm an ENT specialist and foundering member of tinnitustreatment.com.au you can go to the website for more details or download the app on Apple and Android stores

23.01.2022 Have you tried these supplements to help with tinnitus symptoms? If not you should! My name is JC Hodge I'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of tinnitustreatment.com.au So I previously talked about magnesium, zinc and b12 minerals and vitamins that can potentially help with tinnitus but are there others?... The harsh reality is if you look at the data in the literature there is no evidence for and against any of these other supplements but if it helps, it helps! People talk about turmeric as a sort of superfood, antioxidant, garlic not just good against vampires, melatonin, i think this one helps by improving your sleep hygiene and quality at night time. and Gingko, i mean for every study shown that ginko works is one that shows that it doesn't my advice is really to have a healthy balanced diet and seek audiological and medical practitioner advice and treatment for your tinnitus. 20.01.2022 Does TMJ Cause Tinnitus? Visit my website for more info about Tinnitus and treatments www.tinnitustreatment.com.au. Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD... Does temporomandibular joint dysfunction cause tinnitus? My name is Dr JC Hodge I'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of tinnitustreatment.com.au So does temporomandibular or TMJ dysfunction cause tinnitus? Well the short answer is easy yes! 20% of adult Australians suffer from tinnitus but when you look at the patients suffering from TMJ dysfunction, the incidence of tinnitus is much higher at around 60%. That is because there is a common nerve that supplies both the TMJ and the middle ear which is the auriculotemporal nerve which is a branch of mandibular nerve which is a branch of the fifth cranial nerve or the trigeminal nerve. As a result with TMJ dysfunction the brain can confuse the signals and auto generate tinnitus as a symptom of TMJ dysfunction. The good news is if you treat your TMJ dysfunction this carries quite a high chance of getting rid of your tinnitus.

19.01.2022 Vitamins and minerals to help improve tinnitus symptoms? My name is Dr. JC Hodge, I'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of tinnitus treatment app. Being low in magnesium, zinc or beta-12 can affect your tinnitus. Magnesium is often low in people doing a lot of exercise... as it is used up in muscle recovery it can be found in dark leafy greens, nuts, seeds, avocados and bananas it's a neuro stabilizer you can also get it from supplements. Zinc is found in dark meats poultry, oysters, being low in zinc often reflects a dietary intake issue again it's a neuro stabilizer it's also protective against upper spiritual tract pathogens so in the era of covid it is useful not to be low in zinc. Beta-12 this is normally an absorption issue people with gastritis, celiac disease, crohn's, pernicious anaemia again beta-12 is often found in animal products so vegetarians can be low in this from a dietary point of view although there are certain cereals that are fortified to be high in beta-12. There are blood tests for all three of those magnesium and beta-12 is very straight forward zinc is less commonly done and to see if you're low and your GP can organise that and if it's a dietary issue then you can go to the pharmacy and there are supplements for all three of those which will be taken orally. 18.01.2022 Does alcohol negatively affect tinnitus? My name is Dr. JC Hodge i'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of the tinnitus treatment app, tinnitus treatment. Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD... The short answer is yes alcohol doesn't have a good effect on the inner ear we all know this if you have a few glasses of wine a few beers and you don't walk in a straight line because your balance is affected and that's an inner ear issue. Some people though have found that in very small quantities alcohol can have a positive effect on the tinnitus because it relaxes you it makes you in a slightly better mood and a positive mood certainly has a beneficial effect on tinnitus so if you're distracted and happy you don't notice it as much if you're sad and down obviously you will. 17.01.2022 Point 4 of my 7 point tinnitus treatment plan - Try this simple sleep hack to fall to sleep quicker Visit Tinnitustreatment.com.au or Download the App from the Apple or Android store. Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T... Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD My name is Dr. JC Hodge I'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of Tinnitus Treatment. So point 4 relates to sleep, this is critical because if you're not sleeping well and you're sleep deprived your ability to cope with anything decreases & tinnitus is a difficult problem to deal with. Tinnitus in its own right stops you sleeping because you can hear it. So an important strategy to improve your nighttime sleep and to help you get to sleep is to increase the environmental sound it's often when you hear tinnitus the loudest is at night time because all those sounds that you hear during the day go down. You put the radio on on timer you have a ceiling fan you have the aircon unit whatever works some people find the biggest issues when they wake up and hear the tinnitus these situations are best dealt with using sound therapy such as white noise, pink noise or red noise whichever works for the individual as this increases that environmental sound has been shown to increase a sleep quality as well and people find they drift off to sleep much quicker. Failing that you can see your GP for a short course of sleeping tablets. I have absolutely no issue with this the critical thing is to make sure you get to sleep. I'll be publishing more videos on my seven-point tinnitus treatment plan you can go to the website for more information on www.tinnitustreatment.com.au Remember to subscribe to the youtube channel and to like the facebook page and we'll provide links to the website and to the app that helps treat your tinnitus in the description.

14.01.2022 7 Point Tinnitus Treatment Plan - Step 2 Mental Health Issues Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD... Point two addresses mental health issues. This is absolutely critical if you're going to successfully treat your tinnitus, it's a vicious circle in that tinnitus in itself obviously aggravates any pre-existing mental health issues but mental health issues in their own right also feedback and aggravate tinnitus, with regards to severity and volume. Things to look out for include altered sleep patterns, low moods anxiety, ease to anger, people commenting that you're not your usual self. All of these are red flags which really should make you go and see your GP for correct assessment and treatment. If you're going to successfully treat your tinnitus point two of the seven point plan is absolutely critical. For more information you can go to my website at tinnitustreatment.com.au you can buy my app to treat your tinnitus on the App store or Google Play Store.

12.01.2022 Is tinnitus linked to meniere's disease? My name is Dr. JC Hodge, I'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of www.tinnitustreatment.com.au So tinnitus is a symptom, it's a sound that we hear classically monotone that no one else can hear. Meniere's disease is a condition, it's pathology it's a disease, and it's characterized by recurrent episodic vertigo... which is hallucination of movement and the room spinning around lasting at least 20 minutes associated with tinnitus aural fullness and hearing loss which is classically low frequency. Now the episodes of vertigo are recurrent but the other ear symptoms specifically the tinnitus can occur during the event when they're accentuated but also between them. Interestingly meniere's disease classically burns itself out so about seven years 70% of patients no longer have the vertigo unfortunately the tinnitus can persist for more information go to my website at www.tintustreatment.com.au Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD

10.01.2022 Can tinnitus cause deafness? Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD... My name is Dr. JC Hodge, I'm an ENT specialist from SA and founding member of the tinnitus treatment app, tinnitus treatment. So this is a difficult question, i suspect that the answer is that tinnitus doesn't affect your hearing what it does is affect your ability to perform well in a hearing test most tinnitus is high frequency and that's the frequency which is the most prone to wear and tear as you get older and as a result a lot of the high frequency sounds are lost. The problem is that when you're trying to hear a very high frequency sound in a hearing test and you tinnitus is louder because you're in a quiet environment and it's not being drowned out by environmental sound it can be difficult to really pick out the volume and tone of the frequency which is competing with your tinnitus The interesting thing is that patients who've had successful treatment for their tinnitus with my app certainly those in the high frequencies have found a normalisation of their hearing at that high frequency which was essentially artifactual so they didn't really have a hearing loss they just couldn't hear that frequency because the tinnitus and once that tinnitus is gone they report that their hearing seems to be better for more information go to my website tinnitustreatment.com.au

08.01.2022 Point 1 of the 7 point tinnitus treatment plan! Get a hearing test! Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD... My name is Dr. JC Hodge I'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of Tinnitus Treatment App. This is critical for three reasons, the first is to make sure you don't have a conductive hearing loss, this is when you have obstruction from sound from the environment reaching the inner ear and it can be an obstruction the ear canal or the middle ear could be some wax could be some fluid it could be stiffening the bones in the middle ear. This is critical because if you reverse it and then your tinnitus will get better. If you have conductive hearing loss you hear all the internal sounds louder such as tinnitus. Number two is to make sure you don't have a discrepancy between the inner ear hearing capabilities. And what we're looking for is more than 20 decibels between two frequencies as this may signify a tumor pressing of the nerve to the inner ear and for this you need an MRI scan. This is one of the absolute criteria in tinnitus. Number three if you have central neural hearing loss and its bilateral and it's severe enough you may be a candidate for a hearing aid. This is a good treatment for tinnitus during the day as it increases your environmental sound and you'll hear your tinnitus less. 03.01.2022 Does tinnitus cause hearing loss? My name is Dr JC Hodge i'm an ENT specialist from South Australia and founding member of tinnitustreatment.com.au Visit my website for more info about Tinnitus and treatments www.tinnitustreatment.com.au.... Download my IOS App here https://apple.co/2Ca1X9T Download my Android App here https://bit.ly/2VXWslD So does tinnitus cause hearing loss? Most people's age-related hearing loss is high frequency as this part of the inner ear is more prone to wear and tear this is also the commonest frequency band that you hear tinnitus is those high frequencies so there is some competition to hear those higher frequencies if you have tinnitus. When you get your hearing test you're in a soundproof booth so the environmental sound is very low so you'll appreciate your tinnitus more and most patients will struggle to hear those high frequencies in that environment due to their tinnitus. So essentially yes it can affect your hearing, interestingly if you treat patients tinnitus successfully and the appreciation of their hearing improves. I had a patient recently use my app for a couple of months to acoustically desensitize her brain to high frequency tinnitus and what she found was that her hearing subjectively has improved this is a secondary gain rather than the primary goal of treatment and is very welcomed by patients. My name Dr JC Hodge for more information go to my website at tinnitustreatment.com.au My desensitization tinnitus treatment app can be found both on apple and android.
