23.01.2022 Happy New year everyone. It's been a while between updates! Here's a few pics for your viewing pleasure. We have all the framework for the walls in place; upstairs and downstairs. We have fitted the end walls with pine tongue and grove, ready to be painted. We are working with Ella from elro interiors and have been chosing colours for paint, cabinetry etc. Our current project is the stair case, which will be hidden in the wall between the kitchen and bathroom. It's getting close! Exciting times

23.01.2022 How amazing is this space so far?? We are really pleased with our windows and doors

23.01.2022 House wise, not much has changed. Still putting the roof panels together. But this is the spot we were thinking of parking it when we move in. What do you think?

22.01.2022 Bottom floor glued and screwed into place. Should hopefully see some wall panels going up this week

22.01.2022 Not much of an update.. still painting and tiling the ensuite. We fitted the door, just a few areas to patch up and this section is done. Bath arrived, once installed and architrave/skirting fitted and painted the main bathroom will be finished! Yayyy

22.01.2022 Just a quick update. We've just got one more bit to weld on and then the yellow tongue flooring can go down once it's delivered this week. Our wall and roof panels arrive mid next week. I just need to get the windows and doors finalised and ordered also. We are having exposed steel beams on the inside too and they've been ordered through my former work colleague Ash at BlueScope in Portland, who has been looking after us well. It's all coming together nicely and on schedule so far

22.01.2022 Today's effort..

21.01.2022 Main bathroom almost done. Just need to fit the bath, toilet, finish painting and tile the shower niche. We have enjoyed the process of doing most of the work ourselves

20.01.2022 Internal walls going in. Jus was even testing out toilet placement and spacing

19.01.2022 Get a Rigger they said, it will be quicker and easier they said! Do it yourself, upgrade your skills. Job done! The end frames are in place for welding. We will then add the loft floor frame to this end and continue putting the other frames up over the next few days. You will notice the yellow tongue floor isn't down atm. We decided a different approach and this will go in once all the steel work is finished. I even learnt how to use the forks this weekend! Girls came along for a cruise, Amy freaked out a bit, but now keeps asking to have another go!

17.01.2022 Most people have a finalised floor plan in place before they start building... not us! I'm just playing about with some bathroom layout ideas, getting some inspiration from Pinterest. There will be a nice big bath and a walk in shower. As we are aiming to be off the grid, we will be using composting toilets - that's a given! If you have any suggestions or tips, let us know

14.01.2022 The weather this week hasn't worked to our advantage on the build, but things are progressing! Our wall and roof panels arrived! Thanks to the guys at Burton Industries for the prompt service and delivery, and to George at Geelong Flyer for getting them here! Excellent overnight freight from Melbourne Justin is still cutting and welding up the side beams, just taking a bit longer due to the weather. We have almost finalised our window and door designs. Hopefully within the next week we can start putting some walls up, fingers crossed

14.01.2022 Getting there!!

13.01.2022 Stewie decided to come inside and help out, weird Pony!

13.01.2022 A view from the top!

12.01.2022 And we have windows!! We got a bit excited and tried one out! The frame we built is slightly bigger as we changed our mind last minute on the type of door we wanted, easy fix tho! Now it is really starting to look like a house!

11.01.2022 After a few very long days, we are finally finished!! . .... Just kidding!! But this is very similar to what our end results will be See more

10.01.2022 Yep, this place is good. Fast forward a few months with some candles, glass of wine and relaxing music

10.01.2022 We are looking for recommendations for windows!! Overall we need 6 sets.. one end will be gabled and approx 5.6m high, bi-folds. The other end will be in 2 sections, gabled loft window and bedroom bi-fold approx 2.8m high. A smaller bi-fold off the kitchen, a sliding door in the utility room and a bathroom window. We were quoted $22k from a local business which is more than the budget for the main build. If anyone knows of any demolitions coming up, great sales or any other... ideas, we would love to hear from you Thanks, Verity and Jus (and kids) xx See more

08.01.2022 This gives you an idea of how tall the house will be, so if you are over 7ft tall you still have room to jump

08.01.2022 We were a tad bit excited to see how the panels would look...very happy so far

07.01.2022 Staining steps for the staircase...and trying out the gloss top coat.. shiny shiny

06.01.2022 We have some walls up! Pretty scary stuff lifting these 4.2m panels, but we got there! 3 down, 39 to go

05.01.2022 Painting the beams with clear epoxy as we love the "natural" industrial look of the rust, markings etc. Our notes and measurements will be sealed in forever

04.01.2022 It's floor day! We even have the rug out so we don't trample in mud

04.01.2022 How awesome do these stairs look...and Justin made them all by himself
