I have no idea where to begin but here it goes... starting this page has been on my mind for a long time and I’m super nervous about it and that comes mostly from worrying too much about others opinions and making myself vulnerable to the world. My whole life I have been a yo-yo dieter, looking for the fastest, latest, easiest diet to lose weight. All this did was make me a target to consumerism, looking for a magic potent to miraculously lose a shit load of weight. I would always lose some weight, yet always put it right back on. I came to the point in my life where I got sick of this, sick of going through the same shit every time. I needed to find a way to change my life. It’s only now at almost 39 years old I have genuinely realised that no potion will do the trick. I have been fortunate enough to find an amazing gym which makes me feel like family as soon as I walk in. I would like to say it’s more of an institution. @titanfitness_au Then there is my trainer who I can also call my friend she is one in a million, super disciplined, high achieving and always there for me 24/7, pushing me through the times when I think I cannot. @jazminleary I have decided to use this platform as a way of staying true to my goals and staying accountable. The rules are simple: TOWEL - Full body sized towels MUST be used at all times whilst using the weights, cardio and doing classes. Not on the side of the machines, they must be laid out on the machines that you are using.... DISTANCE: Please be mindful of one another’s space and always be friendly. SANITISE: Sanitise your hands before and after a workout. WIPE: Wipe down all equipment after use. Let's work together as a team and ensure these rules are followed. Booking System - Everyone who has booked a class and does not attend will be fined $10. We want to make sure everyone gets a fair chance to get access to our great classes and do not want people unfairly missing out. If you cancel 6 hours before the class, you will not be charged. 08.01.2022 We have undertaken measures to address the safety and well - being of our members and staff and we want to keep you updated on what we're doing and encouraging as a business in light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Remember, it's still safe to go to the gym, but now more than ever you have to practice good hygiene. Wash your hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds Don't touch your face... A towel must be used during training and classes, they MUST cover the equipment and mats! When coughing or sneezing, make sure it's into a flexed elbow Changes to Group Fitness include: We have reduced the number of participants to 20 in HIIT. We have also reformatted our classes to minimise the use of equipment and movement. Members will remain stationary for the entire class. All HIIT classes Monday - Saturday before 9am will be 30 min. We thank you for your cooperation!

08.01.2022 Stretching with most individuals is so underrated. But there are many benefits to regular stretching especially before and after training. Not only can stretching help increase your flexibility, which is an important factor of fitness, but it can also improve your posture, reduce stress and body aches. Here are 5 stretches you can incorporate into your day before or after training: 1. Seated Torso Twist Stretch... It stretches the back muscles and glutes, lengthens and realigns the spine. 2. Hip Flexor Stretch (Lunge Position) It stretches your hip flexors and quads as well. 3. Standing Quadriceps Stretch Improving flexibility for this large muscle found in the front of the thigh. So it’s a big compound muscle and it also stretches the hip flexors but primarily it is a quad stretch. 4. Four Point Kneeling Threading the Needle It’s great as a thoracic spinal stretch. 5. Child’s Pose Stretch (used in yoga) (Known as a shell pose in Pilates) It helps stretch the hips, thighs and ankles. It’s also in a flexed spinal position, so it’s also going to stretch your spine as well from the top. See more

Compound exercises recruit multiple muscle groups to help you gain more strength and mass while also burning more calories than standard isolation exercises.... Failure: Training to failure is a method in which you perform an exercise to the point of full muscular fatigue (AKA can’t perform any more). It’s important to remember that form is everything with resistance based training so take a ‘form failure’ instead. If you choose this method ensure each rep is slow and controlled. Tempo: Is the rhythm at which you perform a rep, including the rest time at the top of the lift and at the return of the weight to the starting position. For example, some training might involve explosive lifting at a rapid rate, while others may have a slower pace. An example might be 2121 Squat - 2 seconds down, 1 second hold at the bottom, 2 seconds back up, 1 second at the top. Rest-pause: Is an intensity extending method where you perform an exercise and after your initial set, you pause briefly. This "rest period" is typically 15-30 seconds. Try it when performing a squat, feel the burn! Circuit training: Is a fitness training method that requires alternating between several exercises targeting different muscle groups. There is limited rest involved. The idea being the fast pace between exercises adds a cardio element to the workout. A good circuit routine is 40 seconds on 15 seconds off. Choose 4/5 exercises, complete each set with a 1-min rest after, 5 rounds total. Flexibility: Is vital to any active person. Flexibility training should be incorporated into any fitness plan. Structured practices like yoga & Pilates are the best. Stretching & flexibility training help increase mobility and range of motion, as well as improving balance and posture.

07.01.2022 FAT LOSS MYTHS There are so many unhealthy misconceptions about fat loss. While we may want a magic pill more than anything, the truth is fads & quick fixes can actually do more harm than good when it comes to losing body fat and keeping it off. Lets clear up a few myths!... Carbs at night make you fat: Carbs at 8am are the same as carbs at 8pm. Eating carbs at night isn’t going to make you fat, over exceeding your calorie intake will. Remember calorie balance will dictate the rate of fat loss. Carbs can actually help you sleep better. They increase serotonin levels. Serotonin is the precursor to melatonin, the sleep hormone. (Better sleep = better fat loss). . . You have to eat 5x/day to speed up your metabolism and burn more fat: Eating more doesn’t directly increase your metabolism. Over consuming calories can have the opposite affect. How many times you eat a day comes down to personal preference. You must find an eating routine that works best for you, makes you feel good & one you can stick to. Remember consistency is key. . . Intermittent Fasting is the best for fat loss: Intermittent Fasting is one of many methods to achieve a calorie deficit. It basically shortens your eating window. It has many amazing health benefits BUT it doesn’t suit everyone. The only way you will get results is by following something you can stick to. . . All calories are equal: Calories are not all created equal. A diet consisting of nutrient rich whole foods will provide you with the optimum nourishment, leading to optimum levels of energy output throughout the day (including increased gym performance, recovery & mood). A diet consisting of sugar & processed foods can cause vitamin & mineral deficiencies, low energy, digestive issues, cravings and fluctuations in blood sugar levels, leaving your body to lack in vital needs to function at its best. Not to mention affect your mood, sleep and often leave you feeling hungrier causing you to go off track and eat more than intended! . . . Fat loss doesn’t have to be complicated. Remember compliance is key. Find a routine that works for YOU. Always enjoy the process! See more
