25.01.2022 The Year 9 students had a wonderful experience visiting Blackbutt Reserve in Newcastle and Speers Point Park yesterday. Exploring the wildlife exhibits and nature walks at Blackbutt Reserve allowed our students to get out and about, and we enjoyed seeing animals like wombats, wallabies, turtles, peacocks, emus and koalas. It was a great morning! We ended our day with lunch at Speers Point Park, Lake Macquarie. The playground provided our students with a chance to have some fun and get active.



25.01.2022 Yesterday the Year 12 Geography students enjoyed a field trip to the Hunter Valley, as part of their 'People & Economics' unit of work. The students got to explore the region and were treated to a round of aqua golf too. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the class was unable to do a tour of any specific wineries, but they had such an enjoyable day looking around the area with Michael as tour guide.

24.01.2022 Calling on creative young people from 12 to 24 years who live, work, study or play on the Coast! You can submit an artwork around the theme 'Living Green' for the chance to have your work to used in an educational awareness campaign to promote the use of a sustainable resource. Did we mention that artist of the winning artwork will also be awarded a $500 gift voucher for Eckersley's Art & Craft? Entries close on 31 August.

24.01.2022 Yesterday our Year 9 and 10 students spent the day at Toowoon Bay. The excursion allowed the students to enjoy a day of arts and science experiments, with a range of activities taking place. Students played with kinetic sand, bubbles, mini volcanoes and performed a range of experiments. For those who love to get creative, we supplied a range of paints and canvases, with the students creating some wonderful pieces.... We had a great BBQ, cooked by some of our amazing young people, and even enjoyed a swim!



23.01.2022 The Year 11 Geography students enjoyed their Ecosystems excursion yesterday, exploring our local lagoons and beaches. From looking at the coastal erosion at Wamberal to Copacabana lagoon, the class saw some of the incredible scenery that the Central Coast has to offer. The students enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Haven to wrap up the day!

21.01.2022 We are very proud of the students who completed the bushwalk through Bouddi National Park yesterday. Some of our students walked nearly 7kms through Putty Beach and to Maitland Bay. They were so determined and showed a lot of resilience. We enjoyed some beautiful scenery and the day ended with a BBQ and game of molkky. Please enjoy our video below.

20.01.2022 TLK Youth College is delighted to announce our partnership with OzHarvest. This collaboration will give many of our families access to a weekly box of food and cooking instructions to help assist with creating nutritious meals. This could not have come at a better time, with so many families struggling from the impacts of Covid. Thank you, OzHarvest. We look forward to a long relationship and seeing our students benefit from this incredible opportunity.



19.01.2022 It was so great to see our students out playing volleyball in the gorgeous sunshine last week for PDHPE Lovely day for a volley!

19.01.2022 We love getting out and about with students to meet educational outcomes in a fun and unique way. Our Year 9 PDHPE students had a fantastic game of tenpin bowling yesterday and we are so glad that they could get active, even though the weather was pretty miserable!

18.01.2022 Today the Year 12 HSC Trial Examinations began and they will be conducted over the next week and a half. We wish the students the best of luck as they finish up their 13 years of education.

15.01.2022 TLK Youth College acknowledges Remembrance Day and would like to thank those who served, and continue to serve, our country. We are encouraging students to take this time today to remember those veterans past, fallen and with us still today. There is a live ceremony broadcast from 10.45am today with a minute silence at 11am, and our students will be taking this time to reflect and pay their respects.... Please see our photos below of students who made a wreath from their own hands, and then took the time to place a poppy on each cut out.

15.01.2022 TLK Youth College students are encouraged to join in with PCYC Bateau Bay's Fit for Life program. Students can take part in the morning boxing session and breakfast from 7am-8.30am, which is provided for free. When the program is finished, students are also driven to school. PCYC Bateau Bay



14.01.2022 This week, our students attended LOVE BiTES, a respectful relationships education program. LOVE BiTES aims to provide young people with a safe environment to examine, discuss and explore respectful relationships. TLK Youth College would like to thank the three facilitators from the day and it was excellent to see our students gain so much valuable information from the program.

13.01.2022 The Year 11 Modern History students visited the Newcastle Memorial Walk last week. The Anzac walk was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli in 1915 and the commencement of steel making in Newcastle; it acts as a magnificent memorial to the men and women of the Hunter who served their community and their country. The class enjoyed the spectacular scenery and also visited Honeysuckle to have lunch.

12.01.2022 Today is World Teachers’ Day and it is the time to celebrate and thank teachers for their wonderful contribution. Teachers are one of the best assets that a school can have and today, we recognise the amazing teachers at TLK Youth College. Thank you for all of the work that you have done and continue to do for our students on a day to day basis.... We took a short break this morning to enjoy a lovely morning tea and read these beautiful cards from our students, highlighting their appreciation for the staff.

11.01.2022 Today’s year 9 Science class had a hands-on lesson of learning as they created a solar powered robot and other projects. This term, the class is learning about renewable energy, such as solar power, while last term was focused on the human body. We had a great time working together to get these projects completed.

09.01.2022 This week we have been celebrating National Science Week. The event is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. The Year 9 & 10 students have had a ball with our programmable robots, CUE and Sphero. Blending coding with science, music, play and creativity has been amazing for the two classes.... These robots change the way our students create, plan and learn. We have such a great time with them.

09.01.2022 Yesterday in History, Year 9 engaged in some hands on history, exploring mock-ups of World War One care parcels as a part of their course. Some of the students really enjoyed getting into this study and stepping into the roles of the soldiers.

08.01.2022 Yesterday was R U OK? Day. This event is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is struggling with life’s ups and downs. Our students wore yellow to school to support the cause and we participated in outdoor exercises and activities. ... In addition, the Year 9 students had fantastic discussions about how to talk to loved ones about how they are, and how to have productive conversations.

08.01.2022 As part of the Year 9 Science unit Global Systems the students visited Grace Springs Farm yesterday. The field trip saw students tour the family-run farm and see the cows, ducks, chickens, pigs and even bees! We always have such a wonderful time at the farm and learn so much about sustainable living and our eco system.

05.01.2022 As a part of the Year 10 English course, the students are investigating graphic representations, visual literacy and the idea that "a picture tells 1000 words". Their excursion last week centred around this idea, visiting Gosford Regional Gallery, the Japanese Gardens and The Red Tree Theatre. We would like to thank these wonderful organisations for accommodating our students.

04.01.2022 Today Year 9 explored local art displays at the Gosford Regional Gallery and The Red Tree Theatre. The Edawonga Japanese Gardens were also a hit, feeding the Coi fish and ducks. The visual arts on display were amazing and it was a great day out! We would like to thank both organisations for accommodating our students.

02.01.2022 The Year 10 students had a fantastic day out filming for IST. Some of our students showed such creativity and passion for acting and filming, and we had a lot of fun! The class was able to enjoy pizzas for lunch and explored the gorgeous Toowoon Bay to end the excursion.

01.01.2022 This week TLK Youth College has celebrated NAIDOC Week, which runs from 8-15 November 2020. Always Was, Always Will Be is the theme this year and acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future. The Year 9 and 10 students viewed the Australian films In My Blood It Runs and Top End Wedding throughout the week. The students were able to look at theme...s like education in Australia and intercultural marriage, which brought on much discussion! Year 10 students have also been analysing and investigating Australian Indigenous literacy and they researched inequality within the Australian Aboriginal community. It was also fantastic for our students to visit the Gosford Regional Art Gallery this week and view the Aboriginal artworks.
