12.01.2022 THE NAME TOKI A reflection of the team’s New Zealand heritage, Toki is the native New Zealand Maori name for axe. A Toki was traditionally used for carving, carpentry and sometimes even used as a weapon wielded by Maori warrior chiefs. The sharpest point of the Toki has the appearance of a chisel blade and was made of either green stone or bone and today is worn by Mori elders representing strength, power and wisdom.
