24.01.2022 Link ECU tuning. Evo 8MR. This turned out nicely. Link G4+ install with Link CAN Lambda. Set up with closed loop fuelling (on idle and cruise), on board knock control, high/low boost switch, launch control and antilag. Optioned with pops n bangs (see previous post). Configured using the Link modelled fuel equation, which allows the easy addition of Flex Fuel at a later date. ... Went on to make 300Kw (400Hp) at the hubs. Drove very nicely on the road Link G4+ and G4x ECU’s represent excellent value for money and offer a wide range of functionality including many Motorsoprt functions and data logging that simply aren’t available from stock ECU’s. Free yourself from the constraints of the factory ECU. Install a Link ECU in your car. Supply, install and tuning available at Tokyo Motorsports. 0893582729 [email protected] Link ECU #tokyomotorsports #linkecu #evo8mr

21.01.2022 Something for the weekend..? This ought to do it. Evo 8 with; turbo back, fuel pump, ID1050s, fuel reg, 3 port, Evo 9 turbo, steam pipe manifold and a retune on the stock ECU on e85. Stock everything else. ... 290Kw and 500Nm. That’s a 120Kw (160Hp) and 200Nm gain over stock. Power graph shows the overlay. Spools up to peak torque at 3500rpm. Pulling 480+ Nm from 3500-5500rpm. Decent gains with minimal mods. A perfect street car setup. You know where we are, you know what we do. Consistently good results. Reliably honest advice. If you want the most from your Evo, WRX/STI or 86/BRZ then get in touch. 93592729 [email protected] #Evo #Evo8 #e85 #tuned #tokyomotorsports

20.01.2022 Lex’s 8MR This car is truely outstanding, there isn’t a better 8MR anywhere in Perth. We’ve been developing the driveline and engine management system on this car for a while. What started out as a tune on a stock 8MR, several years ago, has come all the way through to a 550Hp Time Attack power package running a Link G4+ ECU, with flex fuel and a Strada dash. ... It’s been quite the ride with several different engine and turbo combinations along the way. The current mod list is extremely extensive but in a nutshell: NITTO 2.2 stroker, Kelford 272/278 cams, ported head with 1mm o/s valves, hypertune plenum, steampipe exh manifold, Intense 5960RS turbo, 1700cc injectors, Brushless protec fuel pump and a 3.5 exhaust. All of this is run with a Link G4+ ECU with Link CAN Lambda, a flex fuel sensor and additional sensors for fuel pressure, oil pressure and oil temp (used for both logging and engine protection). The instrument cluster has been swapped out for a Link Strada ‘Street’ dash. Running at 2.0bar it produces 350Kw (470Hp) on BP98 and 425Kw (550Hp) on e85. (Dyno video in the comments). Add to that the widebody, the Endless brakes, the roll cage, the awesome Rays wheels, the 295 tyres, the seats, the bonnet and the paint job, and you have one of the most well modified Evo’s you’ll ever see, anywhere. A testament to Lex’s vision, persistence, patience, dedication and, of course, financial commitment. Nice. Very Very Nice

11.01.2022 Sometimes different workshops get together to get the job done. And that’s precisely what happened with this Evo 6 today. No expense was spared on this build. Originally put together by Dean, this Aussie spec TME includes everything you could possibly want for the perfect Sprint/circuit car, including: NITTO 2.2, 3.5 titanium exhaust, FP Red turbo, Kelford 272’s, ID1700’s, samsonas sequential gearbox, RS rear end, Nitron suspension, MoTeC M130 ECU, MoTeC dash, Carbon doors..., carbon bonnet, carbon boot lid and custom ally ‘half’ fuel tank. (To name but a few of the features). The Engine was built here at Tokyo’s. The car was built by Dean, at home in his shed, and the MoTeC M130 engine/transmission setup was installed and tuned by Shannon at Tune Corp. So, when it was time for an engine refresh, we did the engine rebuild and Shannon came down to tweak the tune. A highly effective collaboration. 385Kw and 575Nm on a run in tune this morning. Easily the best Evo 6 we’ve ever seen. Nice. Really nice Tune Corp

10.01.2022 Supercharged 86 with Flex Fuel This is a great example of a properly tuned flex fuel car. A Sprintex Supercharged 86, which we had put together quite some time ago, came back for a flex fuel upgrade last week. We installed a Zeitronix flex sensor kit, larger fuel pump, larger port injectors, some ethanol rated fuel hose and the latest ECUTEK RaceROM patch. ... Quite a few adjustments needed to be made to the petrol tune to allow for the larger port injectors and to prepare for the extra volume of fuel required on e85. After those adjustments were made the fuel was then blended in 20% increments and the flex fuel settings adjusted to suit. The power graph shows that the final outcome on e85 was a 40Kw and 50Nm gain over petrol. (Nominally a 20% increase across the rev range). Overall that’s a 90Kw gain over stock. If your 86/BRZ needs a bit more, get in touch. 09.01.2022 Crackle maps..!! You asked for them, and so here they are. This one is a 2013 WRX we tuned today with ECUTEK RaceROM. The crackles are on the ‘Race’ mode, which is activated via the switchable map on the RaceROM. ... The crackles are activated as follows. Accelerate, lift off, as the engine decelerates press the throttle very slightly. Crackles It’s not Antilag, nor is it as good as the aftermarket ECUs, but it works. We can set up this kind crackle on just about anything we tune. We’re actually working on a slightly better setup for cars with cable throttles (2.0ltr WRX/STI and Evo 5-9), so they’ll crackle as soon as you lift off. We’ll keep you posted on that as it becomes available. The best way to set up the crackles on the Subaru’s with electronic throttle is with the switchable maps in the ECUTEK RaceROM. That way you can choose to turn them on and off whenever it suits. If you want crackles like this on your car let us know. We can set them up on almost anything we’ve previously tuned. And build them into future tunes. 93582729 [email protected] #tokyomotorsports #cracklemaps #popsnbangs

08.01.2022 Pops, bangs, crackle maps..! (Turn it up..!!!) Recently we’ve been asked for these almost daily. Truth is that they’re difficult to do well with a stock ECU. ... However, a Link ECU gives almost limitless adjustability of Antilag and Launch Control; the two functions that provide the required settings for such things. Configurable in a variety of different ways to give as many pops, bangs and crackles as you could possibly want. In this case we’ve got them on separate switches for the driver to select whenever he likes. The Launch control switch activates a 5500rpm rev limit, combined with some ignition retard, to build boost prior to launching. The Antilag switch first activities rotational idle and then triggers Antilag after the engine reaches 5000rpm and exceeds 70% throttle, timing out over three seconds. If you want the best pops, bangs and crackles, consider fitting a Link ECU to your car. Supply, install and tune available from Tokyo Motorsports. 9358 2729 [email protected] #tokyomotorsports #antilag #launchcontrol #cracklemap

07.01.2022 2015 STI turbo onto 2010 WRX. This car came in for a simple intake pipe replacement. In the process of the job though we discovered excessive end float in the stock VF52 turbo The budget didn’t stretch as far as a new turbo and we were unable to source a decent used one. We had a low Km VF48 on the shelf, so, on it went with a custom made turbo outlet. ... Unless you look closely you can’t even tell the difference Turned out well after a remap on the dyno. A solid 220Kw and 460Nm. Drove really nicely.

07.01.2022 2008 STI hatch tuning. Recently we’ve seen a lot of Subaru’s on our dyno. Today was no exception. This 2008 STI hatch was originally ‘tuned’ (in the loosest sense of the word) by one of the local ‘tuners’. It was all over the place. Torque request tables, injector scalar, MAF scalar, boost control, fuelling, ignition timing and AVCS incorrectly calibrated. Unsurprisingly, it drove like sh1t. ... Once we sorted it out it was a much better car; torque requests adjusted, injectors properly scaled, MAF properly calibrated, boost control correctly targeted and controlled, open and closed loop fuelling optimised, ignition timing set and AVCS dialled in for optimum spool. Mods were light but effective. Dominator 2.5. Turbo back. Process West top mount. Intake. 1000cc injectors. Fuel pump and 3 port. 515Nm and 270Kw at the hubs. Tuned with Open Source software. Drove very nicely after. Some people say that it’s difficult to tune 1000cc injectors on a WRX/STI, but that’s nonsense. You’ve just got to know what you’re doing. If you want the absolute most from your Subaru, or just want an improvement on the dreadful factory tuning, get in touch. 9358 2729 [email protected] #tokyomotorsports #tuning #tuned #Subaru #STI #WRX

06.01.2022 Just to let everyone know that we're still open for business. The MTAA has advised us that motor vehicle repair is deemed an essential business, so we will be staying open until we are advised otherwise. We continue to implement safety measures to keep everyone safe; including social distancing in the office, hand sanitizer on the counter, disinfectant wipes for inside the cars and an endless supply of clean gloves for all of us working on the cars.... With Easter coming up there will be limited recreational options available. The latest round of restrictions limit travel outside our region and social gatherings of more than two people. What better time to tinker with your car or go for a drive. If you're going for a drive remember to stay within our region. (Perth and Peel region is considered the same region). Latest info is here: https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au//WA-travel-restricti And the maps is here: https://dpird.wa.gov.au//RegionalDevelopmentCommissions_20 If you'd like any upgrades, tuning or servicing carried out before Easter let us know. 05.01.2022 VF35 vs TD04. Good results from this upgrade. We swapped out the stock TD04 for a VF35. Adding an intercooler and air intake at the same time. A 90nm and 50Kw gain with minimal effect on the spool up. ... Drove really nice See more
