25.01.2022 Pilot Andy Gordon loves his new shirt, we think it might just be the perfect gift. #ACTAS #SouthCare

25.01.2022 Mo your own way this Movember, as we raise awareness for men's health issues. Each hour every hour we lose 60 men to suicide across the globe. Movember looks at mental health through a male lens, focusing on prevention, early intervention and health promotion. We’re working towards a world where men take action to be mentally well, and are supported by those around them. Join us as we take part in the movement to change the face of men's health. We look forward to seeing the state of your 'staches at the end of the month!

25.01.2022 When he is not working as a Doctor on board Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter, you'll find Dr James Milligan in the Emergency Department at the Royal North Shore Hospital. While he can't pick a favourite workplace, the combination of the two roles has worked well for James over 10 years. He loves running an entire department and then being completely hands on when working with the helicopters. "It's like not having a favourite child and it makes every day differ from each other!"

24.01.2022 24/7, 365 days of the year. Working together, as part of the NSW Ambulance Critical Care Network, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service - Official Site and Toll Ambulance Rescue have got you covered New South Wales.

24.01.2022 Nice to see Lake George looking almost full! #ACTAS #SouthCare

24.01.2022 We train frequently for night missions. "Some of the most challenging missions take place at night in and around the Blue Mountains area. As a pilot at night you lose half of your peripheral vision, essentially your vision is dropped down to 40 degrees, making the environment even tougher to operate in. Training is essential to the safe operation of the aircraft in a difficult environment." Tim Frankel, Pilot, Toll Ambulance Rescue

24.01.2022 "3 years ago today at 4.30 PM, my 17-year-old son Sam was critically injured in a car accident on the Lachlan Valley Highway near Cowra. You airlifted him from a paddock by the side of the road to Westmead Hostpital and he spent 6 weeks there before they sent him back home to Canberra Hospital. His recovery took just on 2 years, but today, three years later, I've got a happy, healthy and normal twenty-year-old. Words will never be able to express how thankful my family is to you for the amazing job that you did with Sam. You undoubtedly saved his life. You were then and will always be the superheroes of my world. Now when I hear the rescue helicopter go overhead I look up and wonder about the person onboard and their families but I know that, like with Sam, they're in the best possible hands."

21.01.2022 Inter-hospital transfers occur when a patient requires more advanced specialist care than the hospital they are at can provide. This recent mission saw us transfer a patient from John Hunter Hospital to the Royal North Shore, with a magnificent view of the Australian coastline.

20.01.2022 Every year, around 34,000 Australians and New Zealanders suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Today, we are taking part in Restart a Heart Day, which is a global initiative to raise awareness and educate the community about CPR and AED in the community. Every second counts in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest the more we know about CPR and how to do it, the more lives we can save.

20.01.2022 What are they doing? NSW Ambulance Critical Care Paramedic Sean Cooke and Aircrewman Greg Rose are conducting a recce of a vessel prior to conducting a high line winch to extract a crew member. The winch itself was complex and required a lot of communication between the vessel captain and his crew and our helicopter rescue team. A remarkable result was achieved allowing the paramedic to safely access and then recover the patient from the vessel. The team work of the vessel crew and their assistance was invaluable to the mission's success.

19.01.2022 As summer approaches and we all head outdoors to enjoy the beaches and waterways, our crews are undertaking their annual wet winch training. Tim Cowdery

18.01.2022 Last month, the air and NSW Ambulance medical crew onboard Rescue 207 were tasked to Wheeny Creek. The complexity of landing at night in a dark valley with wires and livestock challenged the crew, with support from the on ground teams, the aircrew landed and the medical team were able to provide immediate and critical care to the two patients before loading them both in the one aircraft and transporting them to Royal North Shore Hospital.

16.01.2022 Off duty NSW Ambulance Intensive Care Paramedic David Rigby was able to capture a recent mission in full colour. We were tasked to provide critical care for an injured patient in Collaroy.

14.01.2022 @NSWAmbulance Critical Care Paramedic Michael Burrows was delighted to be nominated as a Sydney Markets Community Hero and won a 5kg box of cherries in recognition!

14.01.2022 With Australia's largest Aeromedical fleet of eight aircraft and six online 24/7, maintenance is a fine art and a balancing act. A team of 24 engineers and dedicated planners coordinate this mastery. This maintenance system is defined by Toll and the manufacturer, it encompasses the limits, the timeframes and tolerances depending on the inspection. The fleet is rotated through our heavy maintenance facility in Bankstown. Recently we flew Rescue 206 to the Canberra Base and returned Rescue 204 for its 2400 hourly inspection.

13.01.2022 We love this drawing that Imogen from our community created of our Toll Ambulance Rescue helicopter and NSW Ambulance. Keep on sharing your artwork we love this.

13.01.2022 Are you ready to test your knowledge? On an average mission; we travel 120 kilometres from our Bankstown Base. Who knows the average flight time it takes for us to travel from Bankstown Base to Gosford to Royal North Shore Hospital and back to base? This is one of our more frequent inter-hospital routes. Bonus points for anyone who knows how often we travel this route this year!

10.01.2022 One of our own team, engineer Graeme Miller, was recently flown to with Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service - Official Site to John Hunter Hospital following a paragliding accident. The exceptional medical care and treatment he received meant he was discharged last week and is now recovering at home. Here's to a speedy recovery and getting back to Wollongong Base, we miss you!

10.01.2022 "2 years have flown as fast as you guys. Thank you all so much for what you do - You guys made our family complete." Thanks to Ad, for reaching out and sharing these photos, we are so glad to hear that your family is ok.

09.01.2022 On 11th of November, we remember all those in the armed forces who lost their lives serving our country in the line of duty.

09.01.2022 This October, we're proud to be participating in Fly Pink in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation. All of our air and medical crews will be flying with pink wings to support increased awareness of breast cancer, the early detection and cancer research. Fly Pink also supports the Movember Foundation raising awareness and funds for men’s health, including prostate and testicular cancer.

07.01.2022 "The aircraft performed beautifully at its maximum limits. It was an enjoyable mission to fly where I was able to use all my skills." For pilot Jeff Yew, a recent mission to Cabramurra was his highest winch mission at 5,800 feet above sea level. Lucky for us, it was all documented. How good are these photos!

06.01.2022 For the last two months, our teams have been Flying Pink and growing their Mos, in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and for Movember. We are thrilled to have helped contribute in raising awareness and valuable donations to these great causes. If you would still like to donate to our fundraising journey, please follow the link below: https://flypink.net/donate

04.01.2022 Their office is essentially a flying hospital. It was a pleasure hosting Kaitlan Tukukino and giving her a tour of our Wollongong Base as we love sharing what’s going on behind the scenes! Also a massive shoutout to Richard Armitage, Garth Thompson and Nathan Haythorpe, who have never heard of stage fright!

04.01.2022 An interesting mission unfolded last month... Rescue 202 was tasked to a young patient who headed out for an ice-cream and ended up falling down a cliff at an abandoned quarry. As last light approached, the decision was made to winch the medical crew into the scene. They then had to walk around a narrow track and climb to the base of the cliff to access the patient. He was on a slope with a lot of loose shale rock above, which made winching out a risky option. Instead, using... a rope belay from the fire brigade, the patient was lowered on a stretcher into a rowboat. Due to the weight distribution the medical crew were unable to row, so the fire brigade set up a rope haul system for a couple of hundred meters to get the boat across the quarry to the road from where we could carry the stretcher to the ambulance and then to the helicopter. "I have not been involved in a 'winch in/boat out' rescue ever before in my 18 years of doing this!" Doctor Shane Trevithick. The patient went to the operating theatre at John Hunter to have all his lacerations washed out, cleaned and sutured and is now doing well back at home.

04.01.2022 "This order would have to be one of my favourites to date. It was an honour to do these and I thank you for your hard work and for being essential. This client ordered these to be gifted to a loved one who has recently achieved 15 years as a paramedic including 1 year as a NSW Toll Ambulance Critical Care Paramedic.... Just remember... "Not all heroes wear capes" - @baked_by_kc

04.01.2022 Rescue 201 was recently tasked to Butterbox Point. The crew onboard that day included; Pilot Craig, Aircrewman Tony, Doctor Hugo and NSW Ambulance Critical Care Paramedics Josh and Lindsay, who were able to winch the two patients to safety just on last light.

03.01.2022 Effort and endurance at their best. Due to the nature of our work, our crews are required to undergo physical fitness assessments prior to joining Toll Ambulance Rescue. The physical test includes a minimum of 35 push ups/minute, a 2 minute plank, a 5 minute shuttle run at the equivalent of a level 10, a 3 km pack march with a 25 kilo backpack on, carrying a 20 kilo dumbbell for the first 200 metres. This is followed by a 15 metre underwater swim in full uniform and a 200 metre swim in full uniform in under 8 minutes, followed by treading water for 10 minutes, a blindfold mask dive and finally exposure to height. How do you think you would go?

03.01.2022 Epic light show. The night sky was lit up on the way back to base.

02.01.2022 Share your sunset shots with us! This one was taken by our very own Hangars from the Wollongong base.

01.01.2022 Any guesses who this might be? "One of these very special individuals is having a birthday. Wishing this special person the best day ever as the person is out working as if its just another day... Happy Birthday may the day be full of good surprises and a woolies cake or better. Ps he is from the Orange crew." ... Thanks to Chris Ace Williams for the lovely birthday message and the photos!

01.01.2022 Hearing from our community and having people reach out is why we’re so passionate about what we do. We love hearing stories from people in our community. If you have a story we would love to hear from you, please message our page at any time and we will pass your message onto our team. Helping people in our community is what we do, hearing from you is why we love what we do.

01.01.2022 Take a moment to reflect. This shot was taken post mission as we re-fuelled and headed back to base. Our aircraft holds up to 1270 kilograms of jet fuel in two tanks, this allow us to fly 375 nautical miles and still land with 140 kilograms VRF fixed reserves in place. - Simon McGovern

01.01.2022 All in a day’s work first up a NETS mission from Bathurst to Liverpool and a Pre Hospital mission from Burraneer onto St George at last light.
