23.01.2022 Last week we were lucky enough to be invited to the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens for the official opening of their two new picnic shelters and bespoke furniture which Tomago Aluminium helped fund. The ceremony was part of the NAIDOC week celebrations to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We look forward to continuing to support our lovely neighbours in 2021. If you have not visited the gardens recently then add it to your bucket list! #HunterRegionBotanicGardens #givingbacktothecommunity #supportingneighbours

22.01.2022 Our wonderful employees, along with the company, donated $42,000 this week from the 2020 employee Out-of-Pay Donation Scheme. This was split equally amongst four charities chosen by our employees; Soul Cafe, Carries Place, Got Your Back Sista and Headspace. All four charities do amazing work in the community and we were very happy to be able to show our support and present their cheques at two Morning Teas this week. Tomago Aluminium once again generously matched our employee donations dollar for dollar. Soul Cafe Newcastle Carries Place Domestic Violence and Homelessness Services Inc. 17.01.2022 The fingertips, backs of the thumbs and in between the fingers are the most commonly missed areas when washing hands. Handwashing is one of the best defences ag...ainst COVID-19. Make sure you use soap and water, wash for at least 20 seconds and dry completely. Use alcohol-based sanitiser if washing with soap and water isnt convenient. 11.01.2022 PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT A new COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the Newcastle area today. The new case is a male teenager, and we are continuing to investigate ...the source of his infection. Hunter New England Local Health District is urging anyone who attended St Pius X High School (Adamstown) on Monday 3 August to be on the lookout for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested immediately should any respiratory symptoms or fever occur. The school has been notified and will be closed to allow contact tracing and thorough cleaning to occur. The teenager caught the Number 26 bus (Hamilton to Adamstown) to school on Monday 3 August, at 8.20am. All people on the bus at this time will be required to isolate for 14 days and seek testing. He is also a team member of the Newcastle Jets under 15s representative squad who played a soccer match against the Stanmore Hawks at Arlington Oval in Dulwich Hill on 1 August. The teenagers team mates and the members of the opposing team are considered close contacts and will be required to isolate for 14 days. All close contacts of the teenager will be notified and required to isolate for 14 days. Hunter New England Health is still working to identify any further contacts or venues visited by the teenager, and additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available. It is vital people in the community continue to present for testing if experiencing symptoms to limit the spread of the virus. We urge everyone to please follow directions they receive about home isolation and quarantine, and maintain COVID-safe practices of physical distancing, coughing or sneezing into their elbow, and regularly washing their hands. COVID-19 TESTING CLINICS: Hunter New England Health continues to operate a number of COVID-19 clinics at hospitals in the Hunter region. The University clinic also continues to operate 8am to 4pm, seven days a week. Those wishing to be tested must contact the drive-through clinic on 4964 7497 during operating hours to arrange an appointment prior to attending. Children under the age of 5 are unable to be tested at this clinic and should attend their nearest ED or local GP so a full medical assessment can be undertaken. The 4Cyte Pathologys COVID-19 clinic at Central Church Warners Bay (290 Hillsborough Rd) operates between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 11am Saturdays, and no booking is required. More information can be found on their website at www.medtechservices.net.au. Testing is also available through Lavertys Adamstown Drive Through COVID-19 clinic (91 Victoria Street). The clinic operates between 8am and 4pm, Monday to Friday and 9am and 4pm Saturdays, and no booking is required. We have expanded our call centre capacity and the number of phone lines available to improve booking wait times for our community. If the clinic you are hoping to visit is busy, you can find other local options by visiting the NSW Health website or calling your GP.

10.01.2022 We are so humbled and grateful very single time that people choose to donate and support Carries Place service delivery in whatever way they can; from a child ...who decided to donate their piggy bank savings and a local couple who bought in cans of baby formula to corporate donations to enable specific programs to operate. So we have decided to incorporate "Thank You Thursdays" into our posts to regularly acknowledge the generosity of our community whos contributions no matter how small make a huge difference in someones life. Today we are grateful for the generous donation from Tomago Aluminium Company Pty Ltd. The donation will enable Carries Place to create a welcoming and functional client space in the near future. We at Carries Place are so impressed with the staff giving program at Tomago Aluminium which speaks volumes of the workplace culture and community integration of the organisation. #thankyouthursday See more

09.01.2022 Yesterday Tomago Aluminium hosted a visit from ALP Opposition Leader the Hon Anthony Albanese MP and Federal Member for Patterson, Meryl Swanson MP, together with AWU National Secretary Daniel Walton. The visit was to showcase Tomago Aluminium and the important work we do and was also an opportunity to get some alignment on the critical issue of energy policy and the need for gas to provide a firming solution for wind and solar when neither is generating.

08.01.2022 URGENT PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT - NEW COVID-19 CASES IN NEWCASTLE (UPDATE) A second case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed since last nights update. 07.01.2022 I'm a great believer in local Jobs and local industry, and I'm proud that our community is home to Tomago Aluminium. Did you know that Tomago Aluminium is one o...f the largest aluminium smelters in Australia. Contributing $800 million to our local economy and $1.5 billion to the national economy. When Anthony Albanese visits the Hunter, I'm the first to brag about our outstanding credentials as a national economic powerhouse.

07.01.2022 A busy day out and about around the Hunter and Central Coast of NSW today, which was focused on our #JobMaker plan for Australias economic recovery from this C...OVID recession. It started near Newcastle by announcing our plan for affordable, reliable and more secure energy for Australian families and businesses, including backing a new gas power plant. We then headed over to the Tomago Aluminium Smelter, where more than 1500 jobs will benefit from our plan. I was pleased to be the first Prime Minister to visit the plant and then we headed over to the Varley Group where I got on the welding tools and met local apprentices and trainees. After that, I dropped into the Australian Reptile Park where I heard how #JobKeeper and the more than $170,000 they got from our zoos support package ensured they got through the COVID shutdown and are nearly back to business as normal with all 41 of their staff still employed. The day was topped off with a visit to Cakes By Kyla in Gosford with Lucy Wicks where I heard how our expanded and extended instant asset write-off scheme will help their thriving small business expand and grow as well as the amazing things she is doing to support her local community. Thank you to all the people I met today for sharing your stories.
