04.01.2022 This great review by the beautiful Julie Fox on our last show at Tomerong. Thank you so much xxx The Mason Rack Band 19 Twenty Tomerong Hall, Tomerong... Friday, 15th August, 2014. For those asking the question; Where the heck is Tomerong, it’s on the south coast, just after the turnoff to St. Georges Basin. What a fantastic little juke joint is this place! And how lucky were the huge crowd who braved a cold Friday night to turn up and check out these two sensational bands! I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about the three young guys who form the band, 19 Twenty, so I was on a mission to see and hear them for myself, after having bought their debut CD, Zion. I wasn’t disappointed! Energy plus! Their style is a combination of Backsliders meets rockabilly. With Kane Dennelly on vocals and an assortment of guitars, John Gwilliham on upright bass and Joey Winkler on drums, the dance floor was packed. Their fans were out in force, joining in the singing and jostling for space, while the boys put on a first class performance. The Mason Rack Band has built up a huge following over the last few years, and even with one or two line-up changes, the music, talent and energy from this band just keeps getting better and better! And this is down to one man; Mason Rack, who gives, demands, and receives nothing but the best from the musicians who form this tight knit trio. With powerful vocals and playing some blistering slide guitar, this guy sets the pace and the rest of the band complement him perfectly; sitting nicely in the groove or stepping up the pace several notches when needed. And with Mason, this is needed quite often! Visually and musically, this band is the total entertainment package! Thanks must go out to Sue Corbett, from Capital Q Entertainment for not only putting two top bands on the one bill, but taking the risk, trialling a new venue; Tomerong Hall. As I said previously, a real old fashioned juke joint, with a great stage, long wooden tables, a kitchen which provided wholesome, delicious food on the night, tea, coffee and a BYO option. What more could you want? Er....maybe some heaters, or close those big old barn doors? Bring on the warmer weather and lots more bands in this magic little venue. *Julie Fox
