16.01.2022 AVA'S JOURNEY FUNDRAISER (12th June 2021). On Saturday I attended a fundraiser event held in Toogoom which was organised for a young girl and her family. I was ...honoured to be invited to take some family photos (and candid photos) during the afternoon. For those who are not aware of Ava's journey I will give a short summary. Ava at just 7 years of age has been diagnosed with a stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. She was attending Howard state school before having to go to Brisbane for treatment. Both parents have had to leave their jobs to be by Ava's side. Their other children have relocated and curently live with their grandparents. These children have also needed to change schools. Saturday's fundraising event was organised by a wonderful, caring lady (Loretta Hill). With the help of many local residents, caring supporters (etc) this event was a great success. I was emotionally moved beyond words to see the community of Toogoom come together and offer both financial and moral support for Ava's wonderful family that has already been through so much. It was a fantastic surprise for everyone at the fundraiser to find out that Ava and her parents were able to attend. Ava was given special release from hospital to attend. It was absolutely wonderful to see them there. I wish I could say that Ava's journey and hospitilisation is near to an end and they can come home, however this is not the case. There are many, many more months of intensive treatment for this brave girl. My thoughts are with the family. Not just today, but each day until AVA can come home. WELL DONE Toogoom for getting behind this local family. You should all be very proud of your caring town !! See more

05.01.2022 Hi everyone just wanted to let everyone know it’s business as normal for us! 630am-7pm daily. We are unsure if this will stay like this depends on our community. Definitely Easter will be looked at as we won’t have holiday makers and probably won’t cover our costs on the public holidays. Please support your local store we have bread daily milk every 2nd day and we try to meet everyone’s needs.... We can order extra bread and milk if we need too but we can’t order extra if it’s going to cost us to throw it out! As you can all appreciate it’s hard times for small businesses so please support us as we endeavour to support our community. We will keep you update.
