23.01.2022 On Wednesday 29th April 2020 at 5:40pm a number of Brigades across the state, including Toomuc, will be sounding their Brigade Station Siren (four times) as mark of respect to the four Victorian Police Officers who tragically lost their lives last week #emergencyservicesfamily #victoriapolice #cfa There is no reason to be concerned or alarmed should you hear one or more Brigade sirens sounding on Wednesday at 5.40pm. When you hear the siren, pause with us as a sign of respect for the 4 Police Officers.

23.01.2022 Today we celebrate St Florians Day, otherwise known as International Firefighters Day. A day to remember the fallen firefighters, those that have served, and those that continue to do so. We remember the 79 CFA firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. ... This summers bushfires were another reminder just how precious life is, and wed like to pay special tribute to our colleagues from DELWP, NSWRFS and the United States who tragically lost their lives. Victorian firefighters Bill Slade, Mat Kavanagh, and David Moresi. New South Wales firefighters Geoffrey Keaton, Andrew ODwyer, and Samuel McPaul. United States firefighters Ian McBeth (Montana), Paul Hudson (Arizona), and Rick DeMorgan Jr (Florida), who travelled very far from their homes to help us all. Thank you for your service and ultimately, your sacrifice. You will never be forgotten.

23.01.2022 CFA media are helping us get our message out about how important it is to donate blood. We want to remind anyone who can, to donate blood as often as possible. Each blood donation can save 3 lives.... For more information on how you can help, please visit https://www.donateblood.com.au or Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. Our donations came up as part of the Emergency services blood donation challenge, where we are pitted against all other emergency services in Australia. With only 2 weeks to go we are in 2nd position, trailing Victoria Police by only a handful of donations! Even once this challenge finishes our brigade will continue to regularly donate. Every drop counts. CFA (Country Fire Authority)

23.01.2022 We have some special news! Last night we received an email from Acting Chief Officer Garry Cook, stating that we are able to take Santa around the streets as we have done for many years! Watch this space for a date and times as we contact Santa and share the good news!!...

22.01.2022 Today is first responders day. We would like to thank all of the men and women we work along side throughout the different agencies #weworkasone

21.01.2022 We would like to thank Roadlinez who today have made a donation to our brigade. Roadlinez have repainted our parking bays, lines to back our appliances in with and nice new KEEP CLEAR markings. We cant thank Roadlinez enough for their generous donation!

21.01.2022 Did you know you cant smell smoke when youre asleep? All smoke alarms in your home should be interconnected - this means that no matter where a fire starts - all alarms will sound.

21.01.2022 At 5:40pm today, with our flag at half mast, we sounded our community alert siren 4 times. Once for each of the Victorian Police officers who tragically lost their lives last Wednesday. On behalf of Toomuc fire brigade, we offer our sincere condolences to all of the family, friends and colleagues affected, whilst we remember them.

20.01.2022 STATE OF DISASTER Melbourne will head into a harsh Stage 4 lockdown from 6pm tonight, as Regional Victoria prepares for Stage 3 from Wednesday. For at least six weeks, Melburnians will be unable to travel more than 5kms from their homes, with just one person from each household allowed out to shop each day. ... One hour of exercise will be permitted daily, while police will enforce a strict curfew from 8pm to 5am -- between these hours, the only reasons to leave the house will be going to work, and giving or receiving care. Supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open and takeaway food services available, with more updates to come on which businesses will be forced to completely close down. All students across the State will return to online learning from Wednesday, with Tuesday to be a pupil free day. #staysafe #cfavic Please stay safe

20.01.2022 Today we remember them

20.01.2022 Please be prepared for the next round of high winds!

19.01.2022 Never re-enter a burning building, leave that to us

18.01.2022 Today marks the start of Mens Health Week, an annual event to encourage Australian men to come together and openly discuss health issues, needs and outcomes. Both on and off the fire ground, good health is absolutely vital, and its important to take stock of your health and think about where youre at. Heres five easy actions you can do each day to help boost your wellbeing

18.01.2022 With the cooler weather now here, a great tip when drying your cloths.

18.01.2022 FYI to our residents in the Toomuc Valley area, you may notice some smoke. Keep up to date using the Vic Emergency app.

Dan & Kurt will be completing 3,046 pushups over the next 21 days, which represents the number of suicides that happened in Australia in 2018.... #pushforbetter

18.01.2022 2 of our members are raising awareness for mental health by participating in the pushup challenge. Read the story published by CFA news below. Well done guys!... #pushforbetter

17.01.2022 We wear masks in dangerous environments. Now it is your turn! As of 11:59pm Wednesday 22 July 2020, If you live within metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire, you must wear a face covering whenever you leave your home, unless an exception applies. A face covering needs to cover both your nose and mouth. ... If it helps to prevent you from ending up in hospital, or stops someone else from getting sick thats worth it. We are lucky to have such amazing men and women in our fire brigade who help keep you safe everyday. Do your part to help keep them safe! If you leave your house, wear a mask. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au//face-coverings-1159pm-wednesd

17.01.2022 Tonight was our first night back physically training since we were graced with COVID-19s presence. We do have some restrictions on how many train and the activities we can do, but we are happy to be training in person again! Tonight saw a small group of our members pressure testing new and old hoses. Its something we must do every year to ensure our hoses are in good working order.

16.01.2022 As we head into Victorias fire season, CFA Chief Officer Garry Cook shared some key points from the launch of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) - Bushfire Seasonal Outlook.

16.01.2022 Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), a day to celebrate our LGBTIQ+ community and raise awareness of the discrimi...nation they may face. Here at CFA, we are proud to stand against this discrimination and provide a welcoming and supportive community for all of our members, regardless of gender or sexuality The diversity within our community is what makes us who we are, so today - and every day - lets stand together and be proud Kingston Fire Brigade CFA

15.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums out there!!

15.01.2022 This week 10 of our brigade members attended the Pakenham pop-up Red Cross donation centre. We had numerous members donate for the first time as well as some returning for their regular donation. Giving up a hour of your time to donate a lifesaving product that we all have and to save three lives just by lying on a bed for 5 or so minutes should be a no brainer .... We would like to encourage all brigades to organise a similar event (with social distancing and face coverings) as the CFA is a big organisation. Imagine what great results we could achieve for the blood bank if we all came together and donated in the same fashion that we all come together to fight the major fires. Toomuc Captain **Please note that all social distancing, face covering and advice from CFA we strictly followed during our visit where our appointments were staggered to limit personnel in attendance.** Australian Red Cross Lifeblood CFA Cardinia Group CFA South East Region - DCO Trevor Owen

13.01.2022 Tonight our first small group of firefighters had to demonstrate that they can safely prepare the tanker for a burnover, and ensure all crew members are kept safe if this unfortunate situation occurs. As you can see in this video, our crew is already in the cab, the fire curtains have been pulled down over the windows and the crew protection sprays have been activated to cover the whole tanker with a mist of water. You can also hear the low water level alarm going off too. ... This alarm alerts the crew that the minimum amount of water saved for crew protection has been reached. This reserve will give the crew approx 5 minute of protection with only the crew protection sprays activated. This training has been approved by the Chief Fire Officer and Chief Health Officer as it forms part of our annual essential bushfire preparation training. All precautions have been taken to ensure physical distancing, face coverings, gloves and strict cleaning procedures are completed to comply with regulations.

09.01.2022 Over the past few days CFA brigades were called to a number of out-of-control burn-offs If you're using the great weather to clean-up your property for fire season, make sure you conduct your burn-off safely. A burn-off, if not extinguished properly can re-ignite days after the original burn.... Keep your burn-off safe and legal: Check fire restrictions with your local council and register your burn on 1800 668 511 Check and monitor weather conditions particularly wind To avoid unnecessary calls to emergency services, notify your neighbours beforehand Leave a three metre fire break, free from flammable materials around the burn Have sufficient equipment and water to stop the fire spreading Never leave a burn-off unattended stay for its entire duration If your burn-off gets out of control, call ‘000’ immediately

Do yourself a favor, book in and donate blood today!

02.01.2022 This time last year was our first code red day in almost a decade. It's a timely reminder that the fire season is fast approaching. If you haven't done so already, please prepare your property and discuss with your family your fire ready plan.

01.01.2022 Tonights training we were able to utilise our smoke machine to fill our shed full of smoke to show the effects of hydraulic and mechanical ventilation. We used a motor driven fan for positive and negative pressure ventilation, then hydraulic (with a hose), and finally we used a hydraulic driven fan. These different methods have different advantages and situations where you would use one over the others One of our BA crews were then able to practice a building search to remain current with their skills.
