18.01.2022 Toorak Bowling Club will be hosting a wake for our late Secretary, Ron Glenn this coming Thursday 24th October 2019, commencing after 4pm, once the parking restrictions in Mandeville Crescent no longer apply.

17.01.2022 EXPRESSION OF INTEREST Toorak Bowling Club is surrounded by major Girls Schools and many of them use our facilities for their various functions. I have asked them all if they would like to include Lawn Bowls as a Curriculum Sport going forward...and they have all shown keen interest, both Primary and Secondary Schools. The job would also include liaison with Bowls Victoria and Bowls Australia with whom we have started to cement solid relationships... There is also a lot of funding around at the moment to provide opportunities for girls and women to participate and to that end, I am seeking expressions of interest from female coaches, preferably someone that has a teaching ticket as well. The selected person would also have the responsibility for club coaching and teaching our plethora of new members how the game is played, many of whom are also female across a broad range of age groups. 13.01.2022 OK bowlers, the silly season is officially over, pennant starts this Saturday. BTW...GO TIGES! Looking for front end bowlers and those that love to draw, as a female bowler not getting the attention you deserve at other clubs, we need a couple of skips and 3s.... We are surrounded by Girls Schools, surrounded... It is an opportunity for an up and coming new female coach to bring local private school girls, primary school and secondary school, to develop a relationship with these schools to hopefully create a few winners and representatives. In womens sport, in particular, Lawn Bowls is the sleeping giant, start there, young and for the talented an easy pathway to recognition in sport.

06.01.2022 Our Annual Les Bartlett Memorial Triples has a new sponsor and a new member for the club, Dr John Pohl, from Hawksburn Village Dental. We have changed the format to 3 games x 11 ends of 2 Bowl Triples with a sumptuous 2-course buffet, the food will be brilliant. Start at 10AM sharp, wear your club colours. The Les Barlett Triples Memorial Honour Board will be up to date and we are playing for some decent money in this new version of our annual memorial tourney...youve asked... for it, now you have got it! 04.01.2022 BOWLERS REQUIRED Toorak Bowling Club is renowned for its hospitality, Peter Marshall and Bill Green have kept the legend alive for our Saturday Break Smorgasbord and beautiful Carlton Draught from the tap and that tradition will never stop! Wholly owned by the membership Toorak BC is not only Heritage Victoria listed but we have a real wish from the Toorak locals that we stay where we are...our locals are prepared to help redevop our clubhouse and help create reasons for bowl...ers to wish to join Toorak Bowling Club. We need bowlers and to that end we will be doing heavy local promotion to gain new local bowlers of all ages, as a one green club we can only accomodate 4 sides which means only 80 people will ever be in contention for a game of pennant. Reality is our 2 sides of Div 7 and Div 3 are not what breeds interest from seasoned bowlers, but we have a strong back end skeleton in our top side and need 6 x Div 3-1 players to have a look at elevation, again...lol! Our 2nd side cant go any lower and only played half their games last year, as we regrow our new sides and have the possibilty for 2 more which will start in the lowest Divisions...a big mountain to climb over the next 10 years, we have to become an incubator for new bowlers which I believe the local community is up for as we already have sign ups. Expect a range of opportunities to play bowls day and night during the season. What we need is a way of attracting more women bowlers into the club, we have 2, but also a reason for them to come to join. We are interested in hearing from fresh female coaches, someone that may be interested in co ordinating the local Girls Schools in a bowls program. We have a couple of teen girls that will need mentorship starting this year...any female greenkeeper apprentices out there? Now THAT would be interesting! The top side struggled last year after losing key skips for family reasons, and further player movement has depleted us again, it is critical that we recruit at least 6 capable upcomers or bowlers who like to win at that level without all the rah rah rah, we are a very relaxed club! It is like a local Village Green, you dont even have to play bowls to enjoy the club, we have 2 pool tables, a dart board, lotsa bar b ques. Our committee is dedicated to providing a club will enjoy coming to play, if you think you need or want help with your game we have the people there that can your style aweet.

We are rapt in our new pennant bowlers strapping on the boots this year Chris, Rick, Kaya, Harry, Anton, Steve, Mick and Howard Our 2nd side is struggling for numbers although we have been able to put a team on the green every week so far and if you have been thinking of taking up the sport now is the time to dive in!
