25.01.2022 Chinese healing with Moxibustion- a time-honoured and handy therapy Many of us think of Chinese medicine as being synonymous with acupuncture, but even the Chinese term for acupuncture, Zhen Jiu, literally translates into Acupuncture & Moxibustion In China, acupuncture and moxibustion have been used as routine clinical procedures for thousands of years. Acupuncture involves using fine needles to pierce specific body areas, while moxibustion is the burning of moxa (the l...eaf of the Chinese wormwood tree) to provide a warming effect. Acupuncture and moxibustion are considered complimentary forms of treatment and are commonly used together. They have been widely adopted by the general public for its wide range of applications, good results and convenience of use. Moxibustion is an important part of TCM, which has been already passed on for a long time.Ben Cao Gang Mu ( Compendium of Materia Medica) says , Artemisia leaf can be used in moxibustion to treat lots of illnesses .Bian Que Xin Shu (Bianques summary of Medicial Essentials) states that: Even in health condition regular moxibustion of guanyuan, qihai, mingmen, zhongwan will guarantee one a 100 year lifespan at least ,which explains that the ancient experts applied moxibustion to protect health in practice. Acupuncture bases on the theory of meridians and collaterals which are quite complicated so it must be done by skillful professionals with license. However, moxibustion therapy is easy ,effective, handy, cheap and pain-free.It has been widely used to cure and prevent diseases and popular in beauty /weight losing treatments for thousands years. Moxibustion therapy is easy to operate so people can even do it after simple training.( you can study by yourself from books and clips,so easy and money-saving). See more

24.01.2022 Author: Dr. Isabella Feng (Toowoomba Chinese Acupuncture Clinic 07-46382885) 1. What is the function of Moxibustion? Moxibustion can warm Channels and activate Collaterals, promote blood circulation and active energy flow. Moxibustion can reinforce energy flow and prevent diseases The energy flow (Qi) is the governor of the whole body in that the Qi is strong so that the body is strong. It is weak so that the man is ill; it separates from the body so that the man will die. Hen...ce reinforcing Qi is the root of protecting life and strengthening body. Bian Que Xin Shu ( Bianques Summary of Medicial Essentials) records that moxibustion is the best method of reinforcing Qi. Moxa is acrid and warm ( yang )in nature. When combined with fire , the two yang substances will get together and strengthen mutually which can promote yang and reinforce Qi,as a result building up circulation. (Tips: Yin and yang are terms used to describe relative opposite qualities or manifestations of Qi. If yin is form, then yang is function. If yin is material, then yang is immaterial. Yin refers to aspects or manifestations of Qi that are relatively material, substantial, condensing, solid, heavy, descending, cold, moist, cooling, dark, passive and quiescent. Yang refers to aspects or manifestations of Qi that are relatively immaterial, amorphous, expanding, hollow, light, ascending, hot, dry, warming, bright, aggressive, and active.) See more

Moxibustion is effective, widely used, cheap, convenient and you can do it by yourself at home ! I am an acupuncturist and Ive practised acupuncture and moxibustion for 8 years. I find moxibustion is very effective and convenient. In some cases, acupuncture combines with moxibustion is much better than only acupuncture. My mother-in-law had very bad headache for 20 years. but all her medical examinations were normal. She took countless medicine for headache but didnt work at all. In last year, I did moxibustion for her everyday and the headaches gone 1 month later. She was surprised about moxibustion .Since then. All my families start getting moxibustion. Moxibustion can be used for anyone especially for women. In the views of TCM, Moxibustion can assist with energy flow and blood circulation of womb. One of my friend struggled with getting pregnant. I did moxibustion to her for 4 times and she got pregnant in the following month. I had sever period pain before and I started doing moxibustion for myself since June . I had a wonderful relief on July and I didnt have any period pain at all after August ! I do moxibustion for myself, all my families and my clients. We all get lots of benefits from it. Moxibustion is easy to learn, everyone can do it . It doesnt have side-effect and it is cheap. Moxibustion is suitable for healthy people as well, it can reinforce Yang-qi which is the vital energy of body. Therefore, moxibustion can prevent diseases and make you feel energetic ! Acupuncture is one of the most widely used alternative medicines throughout the world, and in simplest terms, acupuncture is the practice of penetrating the skin with small needles at specific points on the body. This stimulates certain nerve endings of the body, and can relieve a wide variety of health conditions. Acupun...cture originated as a traditional practice of Chinese medicine, and in its classical form, acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicinal practice in human history still being used today. Many nations around the world swear by acupuncture, and the popularity of the practices has spread throughout the world, though it is variably accepted as an effective and trusted method of treatment. The uses of acupuncture traditionally centered on actuating different bodily functions that may be stalled or working improperly, warming the body, defending against pathogens, containing bodily fluids, and transforming those fluids into other usable forms of material or energy. Some of those traditional intentions have been kept, while others have changed. See more
16.01.2022 Treatment of Piriformis Syndrome Pain Some of the cases termed "lower back pain" are in reality piriformis syndrome. In piroformis syndrome, the piriformis muscle gets tight (due to overstretching, trauma, prolonged bad posture, etc.) and compresses the sciatic nerve, producing numbness and pain going down the thigh and calf (UB channel). If the compression is on the inferior gluteal nerve (a branch of the sciatic nerve), the pain will be in the buttock (local symptoms)....Continue reading

03.01.2022 Author: Isabella Feng (Toowoomba Chinese Acupuncture Clinic 07-46382885) 1.Why moxibustion can treat diseases ? If you ask me why moxibustion can treat disease, first I will tell you the cause for diseases .In the views of TCM, if the body is healthy ( harmony or balance ) ,it is able to resist the pathogens(agents that produce diseases). Qi is responsible for keeping the body in balance. On the other words, Disharmony and imbalance of Qi will cause varieties of diseases. In ...TCM,there are many factors can cause the disharmony and imbalance of Qi. In the modern society, the main factors that cause diseases are Cold energy and stagnation of Qi. The common diseases caused by cold energy and symptoms Cold energy symptoms too many cold drinks and food Stomach-ache, menstrual period pain and disorder, infertility, headache too much air-conditioning,sleeping in the open-air Joints ache, muscle ache and stiffness, headache Dont wear enough clothes in cold weather Muscle ache and stiffness, menstrual period pain and disorder, infertility 2.How Can I understand Cold energy? And Why it cause many diseases? In TCM, the Cold energy is a a yin pathogen.Cold is an expression of excessive Yin-Qi . If the Cold energy attacks body , our yang-Qi will get depressed. At the same time, our Qi and blood circulation will be blocked by Cold energy. Our Qi and blood prefer to warm environment and they cant go smoothly if they have been blocked by cold energy , resulting in varieties of pains. If women have too much cold energy in their body, the Qi and blood circulation in uterus will be blocked, which cause sever period pain ,period disorder and even infertility. See more
01.01.2022 Scapulohumeral periarthritis, also called frozen shoulder, is mainly manifested as shoulder pain, motor impairment of shoulder joint and even local muscular atrophyresulting in nonspecific inflammation and restricting movement of the shoulder. It is often seen among people around 50,particularly among physical laborers. The occurrence of the disorder is higher in women than in men. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this disorder is also called coagulation of the shoulder.Ten...dons are attached to joints and connected with the bone governed by the kidney. From middle age, people begin to decline in Kidney Qi.The deficiency of Kidney Qi fails to produce sufficient essence to nourish marrow. Also,it can be caused by invasion of wind, cold and dampness into the tendons, leading to stagnation of Qi and blood and spasm of tendons. If the disorder lasts for quite long time,it will cause stiffness of tendons and muscles, or blood stasis due to stagnation of Qi and blood ,or obstruction of Qi and blood circulation. Obstructed meridians and collaterals may result in pain and eventually cause shoulder periarthritis. Acupuncture is through some acupuncture points that can activate qi and blood and dredge channels, which make qi and blood distributed free of frustration. If the circulation of Qi and blood in some parts of shoulder is not smooth ,acupuncture can be used to promote essential qi and get the circulation back to normal. At present, our clinic use acupuncture combine with moxibustion. The material of moxibustion uses moxa roll, which made from a Chinese herb, moxa,to warm the acupoints. Beng Cao Cong Xin (New compilation of Materia Medica) address: moxa ,which is nontoxic ,tastes as bitter and acrid, and is warm in fresh form and hot after processed. Its nature is extreme yang ,which can restore the collapsing yang qi ,dredge 12 channels, smooth three yin channels, regulate qi and blood ,expel cold with warming and warm uterus, can eliminate disease by dredging channels. With a good smell on burning, it heats straightly and goes into the body deeply ,even reaches deep-seates muscles straightly . As a result ,the stiffness of tendons and muscles and stagnation of Qi and blood can get a wonderful relief. The combination of Acupuncture and Moxibustration are much more effecitive than Acupuncture merely. The Frozen Shoulder Program now is available in clinic .It is included: Traditional Chinese Acupuncture treatment Smokefree Moxibustration treatment Original points massage See more
