25.01.2022 In January of 2015, an arson attack damaged the floor of the community hall in which prayers were held. The person that lit the fire was caught by our security camera but his face was covered by a hood. 3 months later, in the middle of the night on the 15th of April 2015, another huge arson attack burnt the main Mosque building beyond repair. The police are yet to find the criminal. While the perpetrator remains unknown and police have no new leads, the Muslim community of ...Toowoomba decided to focus their attention on a cause much more rewarding and meaningful. Re-building Toowoomba Mosque. The enemies of Islam are not low in numbers nor are they subtle, but we have our faith in Allah SWT and a drive to continuing spreading the message of Islam regardless of those that fear it. The resilience and commitment of the community and their united efforts, as well as the support of Muslims around Australia has allowed us to complete a large part of our Mosque rebuild. Yesterday a group of youth who are part of the Youth Leadership Training Program funded by Melbourne-based Multicultural Foundation of Australia met at Toowoomba Mosque. The group consists of Muslims and Non-Muslims. Imam Abdul Kader is mentoring the group. The program promotes inclusiveness and Multiculturalism as the common identity of all Australians.

24.01.2022 Assalamu alaikum - peace be with you. Some of you have asked or pondering if ghusal (washing) of dead body of COVID-19 victims is essential. The answer is NO. According to Muhammad (SWS) any Muslim death due to any pandemic is a martyr (shaheed). And we know there is no ghusal for martyrs. So, Muslims should bury dead body of any Muslims died of COVID-19 as they are received (in plastic covered bags). This is not only complying with the current Government health requirements but also with Islamic Shariah.

In the aftermath of 3 new cases of Covid-19 in Brisbane, and after consulting with some key people in the community, including President of Islamic Council of Queensland, and assessing the benefit and risk of going ahead with the planned Eid prayers, Islamic Society of Toowoomba decided to cancel the Eid prayers at Toowoomba Mosque tomorrow. As responsible citizens, we must comply with the health requirements of the Government and be a part of containing the pandemic rather than unknowingly taking the risk of spreading it. The daily Chronicle reported that Toowoomba Islamic Society President Professor Shahjahan Khan condemned the graffiti attack on a local Anglican Church, labelling the incident as disturbing. We are very sorry to see the vandalism at one of your church buildings, Prof Khan said. We fully understand how the congregation and followers of your church feel about the hate crime at their place of worship. This is extremism and a hate crime against all the people of our peaceful city.

10.01.2022 The rebuilding of Toowoomba Mosque has only been possible due to the generous support of many Muslims in Brisbane and across Australia. Through organising fundraising appeals and events we were able to raise enough funds to purchase the old church property back in 2013 and then subsequently begin rebuilding Toowoomba Mosque when it was burnt down in 2015. 06.01.2022 Toowoomba Mosque has had a rocky start since it's establishment. The town's first mosque opened it's doors in 2014 but due to fires sparked by an arsonist, was burnt down in 2015. It is related to the migration of Prophet Muhammad (SWS) from oppression (in Makkah) to freedom (in Median) - moving to light leaving behind darkness. Fasting on 10th of Muharram is highly recommended and adopted by Muhammad (SWS) from the teaching of Isa/Jesus (AS), may Allah be pleased with both of them.
