25.01.2022 Rider and year unknown competing at one of our Hill Climb events, it looks to be the property at the top of Flagstone Creek road that we used to use. I found the timing equipment used at this event the other day in our Shed at Murphy's Creek.

22.01.2022 George Murphy was a BSA man through and through. He worked for, then ran Con Crowley’s agency for BSA’s before taking over as the BSA agent himself in Toowoomba. He raced at the various tracks and flying furlongs and miles. He supported the local motorcycle industry for many years and is pictured with his wife Bonnie on an overhead valve BSA with sidecar. He was a member of the TMCC both before and after the war. Extracted from the book "History of the Downs Motorcycle Sporting Club" by Garry Lunich, with permission.

This was the very first time motorcycles raced at Echo Valley, it was a combined car and bike meeting.

12.01.2022 1929 - Blackfellow Creek was another location that provided a hill climb for the racers of the time. The photo shows Dick Case from the TMCC in action. Not a lot more on the hill climb is known. [ Extracted from the book "History of the Downs Motorcycle Sporting Club" by Garry Lunich, with permission. ]

12.01.2022 Pictured is Edward ‘Ted’ Gold in 1923 conducting test radio broadcasts from his experimental station 4EG in a shed, believed to be in the backyard of his Toowoomba home. In 1925, Mr Gold obtained Queensland’s first commercial radio licence for 4GR ‘Gold Radio’, which he owned and managed until his death in 1961, aged 61. The new station was officially launched by the Mayor, Ald. J.D. Annand, on 17 August 1925, broadcasting from St Stephen’s Presbyterian Church on Neil Street.... The broadcast included an organ recital and church service which was reported in the ‘Brisbane Courier’ as being heard distinctly by listeners from as far afield as Oakey! Between 1920 and 1929, there were 66 experimental radio stations in Queensland, earning that era in radio history the title ‘The Golden Age’. Mr Gold was an active member of the community, serving as an alderman on the Toowoomba City Council and as Acting Mayor for a short time following the death of Ald. Annand in 1946. 12.01.2022 I'm saddened to report that Harry Voll passed away on the 3rd of September. Although Harry was not a TMCC member he and his late wife Mary were great friends of many of us. The photos show Harry back in 1970 winning our Club hill climb and he and Mary with the Spreadbrough boys, Lawrie Asgill and John Langsdorf at our 1999 Club reunion. RIP Harry, our thoughts are with your children Janet and Alan at this sad time.

11.01.2022 Kev McGuinn sitting on Roy McGuinn's JAP/Maddingley frame speedway solo. Kev was one of the best mechanics that I have ever known. Kev, Roy & John doing bike maintenance at their back yard workshop.

10.01.2022 I don't know the riders or passengers or where and when these photos were taken, I don't believe it's Connole Park, maybe it's Royal Circuit? Any help out there, please.

06.01.2022 1967 around the back yard on our 1942 BSA 500cc. Dad(Kev), Derek on the back and the start of my motorcycle love affair, riding the tank and pretending to be in control.

05.01.2022 Can't put a year to this. But I'll buy a book.

04.01.2022 I found this article in Revs Motorcycle News dated December 1975 where TMCC member Malcom Marsh won the Nutcracker Enduro. The TMCC also won the Club Award. The Nutcracker was the forerunner to the famous Kogan enduros held at the Braemar Forest Station west of Dalby.

04.01.2022 John McGuinn getting a helping hand from John Langsdorf and the late Greg Cash at Ipswich Speedway.
