Toowoomba residents would be well aware of the flood mitigation works going on at multiple sections along James Street at the moment, but did you know that various artifacts have actually been discovered during the works! This includes multiple leather materials, such as belts and boots, dating anywhere between the 1890-1920, as well as an intact colonial, corduroy bridge that dates... back to Toowoombas settlement period, around 1845! Historians are working with the QLD Government to preserve these artifacts, and say that they provide a real glimpse into life in Toowoomba during earlier periods of time! We thought this was incredibly interesting, and love that it revolved around a discovery right here in our own City!
