23.01.2022 COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the global aviation industry. Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport has seen passengers numbers decline over recent weeks due to government travel restrictions and airlines reducing their services. Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport will witness a suspension of both Qantas & Airnorth services commencing from 27 March, until further notice is given. Although passenger travel has been reduced, Wellcamp is still assisting Rex Airlines, the Qantas Group Pilot Academy and the broader flying community with general aviation activities and its global partners with the continued operation of the Cathay Pacific freighter service each week.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Loads of Love Appeal. After nine years, the appeal has collected 73,000 kgs of non-perishable food, and thousands of dollars for grocery gift cards. 16.01.2022 We are deeply saddened to hear the passing of Dean Jones overnight. Dean was a true cricketing legend who has left behind a legacy that will be remembered. Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport had the privilege of having Dean attend the Sir Garfield Sobers Lunch in 2016. It was our pleasure to support NIOA with this large operation - successfully unloading 110 tonnes of cargo and turning the aircraft around within 3 hours. For those coming out to view the aircraft, there is a public viewing area located on the corner of International Drive & Airport Drive. Estimated arrival time to be 1:15pm with a departure at 2:55pm. The airport terminal will be open with the Altitude Café serving non-alcoholic hot and cold beverages from 12:30pm to 3pm. Please keep in mind that due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have limited capacity within the airport terminal. We look forward to sharing this special experience with you tomorrow!

VH-SCA, The Southern Cross SC-1 was built in the Toowoomba Foundry in 1960 and first flew in 1961. It was originally built to compete with American companies, Piper and Cessna but was found too costly to enter full scale production. VH-SCA is the only Southern Cross Aircraft in history and proudly hangs in Australias newest greenfield airport.
