11.01.2022 CALLING FOR ARTISTS TO SUBMIT ARTWORK We are hoping to display local artists work at the PaintsVille Arts Hub. We want it to be a place where we recognise the importance of art as a form of expression and showcase the work of our local community. Are you interested in having your art on display? 09.01.2022 HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT EXHIBITIONS TO DO? This is a great question - and there is a long process! For each exhibition proposal we receive (or each artist that ...we find that we want to work with), it is discussed with the exhibitions team at the Gallery before being approved. We have a 10 year exhibition plan, so every show that we do needs to fit into that plan - this makes sure that we have a balance of shows, including different mediums, solo and group shows, and that there is equal indigenious, male and female artists represented. We also want to make sure that we include local artists, such as the Freestone Press group, which have just had their exhibition "Artist Proof: The Collective Spirit of Freestone Press" installed. You can check out the online catalogue for this exhibition here: http://www.gippslandartgallery.com//artist-proof-the-coll/ #askacurator #GippslandArtGallery #PGAVgalleries #VicGalleriesFromHome #AustralianPublicGalleries #GippsArtAtHome #ArtAtHome @askacurator acuratorskacurator@askacuratoro

08.01.2022 This is a great legacy of Deb's - a fund to help other women in regional areas gain the skills for advocacy and campaigning for our environment and climate. Applications are now open. Please pass this on to interested people. "The fund welcomes applications from women in remote, rural, and regional communities working (paid or unpaid) for our environment and climate action who are undertaking the WELA leadership development program. These women often face obstacles and hardships not experienced to the same extent by women in less isolated circumstances.

03.01.2022 #MoreThanViable Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to be a performer. There was never anything else I thought about. It drove me and gave me purpose in l...ife. I started training at 12 years old when everyone else was hanging out in the park I was taking tap lessons, When everyone else was spending money having fun I was buying musical scores and begging my parents to take me to the theatre. When I was old enough I went to drama school and then got a masters in theatre. I was lucky enough to get an agent and start working in my chosen profession. I’ve been in this industry for 14 years professionally and 27 years if you count the shows before that. Working all around the world, performing in 6 different languages I learnt for the job I had to do. From the Westend to a pub theatre in Finland. Theatre is my life. The value that it brings to people in normal times is incredible and immeasurable when times are hard. I wrote this 3 weeks ago when I was questioning if what I had chosen as my vocation still had a place in this crazy world we find ourselves in. This is for my friends around the world who are struggling at the moment, for anyone who has ever felt that tingle run down their spine and the need to create something, and to let them know we are viable, we are loved and we are seen. If you know anyone who could do with hearing this right now, please tag them and share this post and remember no matter if you are in theatre or a writer, singer, actor, poet, artist, musician, graphic designer, photographer, Director, MD, make-up artists, theatre manager, wig maker, composer, graffiti artist, pottery maker! You are #Morethanviable. Thank you to the incredible David Charles O'Mahony Blue Pineapple Pictures and Eamonn O'Dwyer and Nina Dunn's The Dark Theatres Project, who without their help and support this would not be possible. #SavetheArts #theatre #singer #musical #WestEndWaiting #musicaltheatre #artists #love #acting #perform #play #stage #LoveTheatreDay #art #create #vocalcoach #actor #lovemyjob #SupportTheArts #cometogether #ensemble #shakespeare #imagine #thebeatles #snoopy #Chakakhan #sondheim #Sinatra #pennylane #viable
