25.01.2022 Our Very First School Community Event We couldnt have been more pleased with the turn up we recievd at our Open night on Tuesday evening. Just about all of our families were able to attend, participate in a tour, meet other families, and enjoy the provided BBQ. Staff made numerous comments on how friendly and positive our families were, and we could helpo but notice how patient everyone was when we considered the lines to get into the school and the tours, and for the BBQ. ...Most of all we loved meeting our new students and cant wait to see them all again at our transition days. Congratulations to the 5 winning families of our open night quiz: The Bajo family The Lyle family The McConkey family The ONeill Family The Adams family Each of the winners will recieve a $20 PSW voucher. We would also like to thank all those families who purchased and donated a book to our school library. Families still have the opportunity to purchase a book from our school Book Fair and donate this to our school library. A personalised label will be placed inside the book cover to commemorate the student who made the donation. Our brand new preps had their first personalised transition day today. And what an amazing day it was! We would like to say a BIG thank you to our parents for their suppport with their child/our students in the way theu have prepared them and for knowing exactly when the right time to leave was. We are lookimng forward to Monday when all our students attend for their transition session.

20.01.2022 Torquay Coast Primary School PREP Year 6 Enrolments 2019 We were extremely pleased to have 138 people attend our recent Information Evening for New and Prospective Families. The feedback we have received has been extremely positive also. Thank you to those families who attended and to those who have already returned enrolment forms. ... Torquay Coast Primary School is currently taking enrolments for 2019 with 29 children already enrolled for grade prep in 2019. In early Term 3 we will commence our planning around our enrolment figures. This planning includes the recruitment and allocation of the necessary staffing, and the determination of student placement in our learning neighbourhoods (including their assignment to home groups.) If you have a child who you wish to attend TCPS in 2019, it is now VITAL to collect and return the necessary enrolment forms to the school ASAP. Enrolment forms are available from our administration office or by email request to [email protected]. Please note that we are only able to accept enrolments from our Designated Neighbourhood Area (DNA). Map available on request. If you know of any other community member who may wish to enrol their child, please feel free to pass on this information. During Term 3 TCPS hopes to be in a position to determine room availability and staffing to cater for all students, based on anticipated enrolments. Late enrolments have a significant impact on these requirements, potentially resulting in under - staffing and larger home groups than desired. Thank you for your support with this Torquay Coast Primary School 25 Stretton Drive (03) 5218 5600

20.01.2022 Teacher Recruitment for 2019 Thank you for the many enquiries I have received about potential teaching positions for 2019. To make it easier for interested and potential applicants, I thought it would be helpful and timely to provide our recruitment timeline.... We will be advertising teaching positions in the last week of this term, with the application period ending mid holidays. This timeline is in specific support and recognition of the workload of current practicing teachers. Having a part of the school holidays in the application writing process allows individuals the dedicated time required to complete an application. On Thursday 20th September, there will be an opportunity to attend an information evening for prospective teachers only. The registration link for the information evening will be available within the job advertisements on Recruitment Online, and on our school Facebook page. Please ensure you register for this event if you wish to attend. It is anticipated that we will be advertising in excess of 5 ongoing teaching positions. Please feel free to contact me direct in regards to any other questions you may have. Darren Roskosch Principal

Harry Taylor, Ryan Gardner, and Bec Goring (Geelong VFLW Captain) delivered the program which focuses on issues around physical activity, food and nutrition, hydration, screen time & sleep. The program is tailored for grade 3/4s and links to the Victorian Curriculum They of course were very complimentary of our school and its students and proudly posed for a photo with our school sign.

10.01.2022 BRING ON TOMORROW! The TCPS staff have been enthusiastically and excitedly preparing our new school for 2018. But there is notably one MAJOR and MOST important thing missing! Our beautiful students! Tomorrow all that changes and our school becomes complete! Our staff will all be on duty tomorrow and will be identifiable by their fluoro vests. They will all be positioned at the entrance to our Central Plaza from 8.40am, ready to welcome all our students on their first day.... All our gates will be open for multiple access points. All Victorian Public Schools are allocated 4 pupil Free Days a year. Torquay Coast Primary School have used the first 3 of those at the start of the year for providing Professional Learning to our staff and preparing our school for our students. SCHOOL CROSSING It has been great news that the local council has approved 2 school crossings for TCPS. One will be on Horseshoe Bend Road, and the other on Stretton Drive. This process has been expedited by council and the crossing infrastructure will be in place by 1st March. It normally takes a year for a new school to be considered for a crossing so we are appreciative of council support. In the interim we encourage all families to speak to their children about road safety and have a family practice run on a safe route to school. Ms Simpson (Assistant Principal) and I will position ourselves at a crossing point on Horseshoe Bend road tomorrow to welcome our students and to assist any that may require it in crossing the road. We will also be identifiable by our fluoro vests. There will also be a staff member (Ellie Hunter) on the opposite side of the road on Stretton Drive, to assist students who require it. We encourage all families to cross at these points in order to develop a consistent pathway to school. Ms Simpson (with very little persuasion) agreed to model our fluoro vests! See you all tomorrow! Darren Roskosch - Principal

08.01.2022 It was a pleasure today to visit Torquay Coast Primary School to personally congratulate them on receiving a $237,625 to build an expanded bike shed and a bike ...path encircling their oval. Their current shed is full to the brim with bikes and in such an active community those numbers will only grow. The school community is filled with excitement at this announcement and I cannot wait to see the project completed. This is about investing in our schools and promoting healthier and more active ways of travelling to school. #EducationState #bikeshed #Education

07.01.2022 At TCPS our students have been exploring the character strength teamwork by working together on a STEAM activity to create the tallest tower. We were not only proud of the results they produced, but the way they worked collaboratively together to give feedback and encouragement. Awesome work from our senior students!
