21.01.2022 Wondering what your kids' dental routine should look like? Taking care of your childs teeth is so important, and you should start brushing their teeth as soon as those first little baby teeth come through. When youre brushing toddler teeth how often you brush is important. Make sure that your toddler gets into the habit of expecting their teeth to be brushed twice a day. If your child is reluctant to have their teeth brushed then making it into a game with a tooth-bru...shing song or story can be a fun idea. They might also like to make a game of brushing the teeth of their dolls or teddies with a toy toothbrush. Letting your child see you brushing your own teeth can also help to encourage them. Here are some recommended brushing techniques and other tips for good dental care for your kids. Regular trips to the dentist are also essential for good child dental care, so dont forget to start scheduling those check-ups as soon as your child has teeth! Please call 0410 952 949 or 08 7120 2719 for a free 10-minute phone consultation *GAP FREE: Child Dental Benefits Scheme, Veterans Affairs Card Holders. All Private Health Insurances accepted.

19.01.2022 IS YOUR DAILY BREW AFFECTING YOUR HUE? Beverages like tea, coffee and alcohol are known for discoloring teeth. Like smoking, these beverages can develop a shallow stain that can likewise cause internal staining of your tooth enamel. Drinks containing added substances, for example, corn syrup and food pigments can make magnificent white teeth seem dull and stained. Constant consumption of acidic or sugary beverages can expand rot rates significantly. Sports enthusiasts a...re rapidly turning into an in danger bunch as the impacts of sports drinks negatively affect their teeth. In this way, it is ideal to pick drinks like milk, which nourish the teeth and construct stronger enamel, giving you a sound, lovely smile and hydrates your body longer than sugary beverages. Water is the most advantageous beverage for your smile, teeth, and body. It enables flush teeth to clean and eliminates tooth decay. Drinking through a straw can help decrease the discoloration on your teeth and may help diminish the danger of tooth decay. To make sure your smile is on point, schedule an appointment today! Please call 0410 952 949 or 08 7120 2719 for a free 10-minute phone consultation. *GAP FREE: Child Dental Benefits Scheme, Veterans Affairs Card Holders. All Private Health Insurances accepted.

18.01.2022 ONLY SWEET-TASTING DRINKS AND SNACKS ARE HARMFUL TO YOUR TEETH? This fact can make you think about it again. Sugar isnt the only culprit when it comes to tooth decay. High levels of acid in everyday foods and drinks can be just as harmful. From oranges to wine, high-acid foods and drinks can wear away your teeth, causing decay, sensitivity and discolouring. Tooth erosion starts when the enamel, or protective surface of your teeth, wears away, it exposes the underlying mate...rial, called dentin. This leaves your tooth vulnerable to plaque and bacteria, which cause decay. Follow these tips to reduce the effects of acid on your teeth. Eat with meals. Instead of snacking throughout the day, save acidic foods for mealtimes. This will reduce their contact with your teeth and help neutralize the acid by eating it with other foods. Wash down with water. Sip water alongside or after the acidic food or drink to wash it out of your mouth. Use a straw. If you drink acidic beverages, reduce their contact with your teeth by using a straw and finishing the drink quickly, instead of sipping over a long period of time. Look for low or no-sugar drinks. Read nutrition labels to keep down your sugar consumption and consider options like water, tea and coconut water. Wait before brushing. Acid softens your enamel, so brushing immediately after eating or drinking high-acid foods or drinks can actually cause damage. Wait at least half an hour and then start brushing. In the meantime, you can always rinse your mouth with tap water. Book your full dental check-up today, we will be more than happy to make recommendations based on your particular set of circumstances! Please call 0410 952 949 or 08 7120 2719 for a free 10-minute phone consultation and appointment booking. *GAP FREE: Child Dental Benefits Scheme, Veterans Affairs Card Holders. All Private Health Insurances accepted.
17.01.2022 Time to sweep away the sugar bugs"! All young children need help with brushing from an adult to make sure a good job is done. When possible, teach children to spit out extra toothpaste, but dont rinse with water first. The little bit of toothpaste left behind is good for their teeth! Once teeth touch, they can also be flossed. Remember, the last thing to touch the teeth before bed is the toothbrush! As soon as baby is born, you can start good oral health practices. If p...ossible, use a soft washcloth to wipe your babys gums after feedings. Remember not to put babies to bed with a bottle filled with milk. And, when it is time to introduce solids, choose healthy foods to reduce the risk of tooth decay. For children under age 3: As soon as you see a tooth in your babys mouth you can start to BRUSH! Use a smear (grain of rice) of toothpaste with fluoride 2 times per day. For children ages 36: Use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. It is OK to let them practice with the brush, but you get your turn too. And please visit your dentist regularly starting with your childs first birthday or sooner if there are concerns. Dont forget to start scheduling a check-up with us now! Please call 0410 952 949 or 08 7120 2719 for a free 10-minute phone consultation. *GAP FREE: Child Dental Benefits Scheme, Veterans Affairs Card Holders. All Private Health Insurances accepted.

14.01.2022 CHIPPED TOOTH & HOW TO PROTECT YOUR MOUTH UNITL YOU SEE A DENTIST Youre crunching ice or a piece of hard candy when you notice something hard in your mouth that doesnt melt or dissolve. You get a sick feeling as you realise what it is, a piece of broken tooth. Youll likely need to see a dentist for anything but the smallest cracks or chips, because its hard to tell how deep the damage might be. There are no effective home remedies to prevent further injury to your teeth... and mouth, and the sharp edges of a cracked tooth could cut your soft tissues, causing more pain, infection, and potentially costlier treatment. In some cases, untreated damage could lead to a root canal, tooth loss, or other complications due to infection. If your tooth has a small chip and a jagged edge, you can apply dental wax over the edge to keep it from slicing your tongue or damaging your mouth. This isnt recommended if you have a large chip or a section of tooth is missing, as you could break off more of the tooth by flossing. Flush the inside of your mouth with warm water, and apply cold compresses to the outside area every few minutes to keep down the swelling. Avoid chewing on the side with the damaged tooth, and try flossing around the tooth to reduce pressure and irritation. Have a chipped or broken tooth? Make an appointment with us as soon as possible that fixes teeth, your smile, and ease your pain. For all bookings and free 10-minute phone consultations, please contact us on 0410 952 949 or 08 7120 2719. *GAP FREE: Child Dental Benefits Scheme, Veterans Affairs Card Holders. 10.01.2022 CHEW ON THIS: Foods for Healthy Teeth What are some healthy foods to improve the health of your mouth? Your dental health not only depends on brushing and flossing but also depends on what you eat. We all know sugary foods, such as candy and soda are bad for your teeth and cause tooth decay. So what about food choices for the health of your mouth? Cheese, milk, plain yogurt, calcium-fortified tofu, leafy greens and almonds, are foods that may benefit tooth health thanks ...to their high amounts of calcium and other nutrients they provide. Protein-rich foods like meat, poultry, fish, milk and eggs are the best sources of phosphorus. Both of these minerals play a critical role in dental health, by protecting and rebuilding tooth enamel. Fruits and vegetables are good choices for a healthy smile since they are high in water and fibre, which balance the sugars they contain and help to clean the teeth. These foods also help stimulate saliva production, which washes harmful acids and food particles away from teeth and helps neutralise acid, protecting teeth from decay. Plus, many contain vitamin C (important for healthy gums and quick healing of wounds) and vitamin A (another key nutrient in building tooth enamel). Hands down, waterparticularly fluoridated wateris the most tooth-friendly beverage. And remember, get your teeth checked twice a year to keep them clean and healthy! Please call 0410 952 949 or 08 7120 2719 for a free 10-minute phone consultation and appointment booking. *GAP FREE: Child Dental Benefits Scheme, Veterans Affairs Card Holders.
