25.01.2022 Data Recovery, Sydney, Alexandria Clicking hard drives. We are seeing an increase in jobs coming in with failed heads, typically shown as drives clicking. When performing head swaps it is critical to match the donor drives extremely closely to ensure no further damage to the drive platters and ensure a successful recovery. 21.01.2022 Data Recovery, Sydney, Alexandria, Seagate 8TB hard drive Hard drives are getting bigger. Seagate is shipping 8TB hard drives. That is lots of data to store on a single drive, which also means lots of data to loose at one time if something does go wrong.

10.01.2022 Data Recovery, Sydney, Alexandria. Lacie RAID We just completed a Lacie Raid 6, 10TB array. 4 of the 5 Drives were having reading issues. We are seeing a lot of failures currently with Seagate hard drives coming in for recoveries. 08.01.2022 Total Data Recall Sydney. We are seeing more large 6TB and 8TB drives coming in for recovery, some of these are coming in with bad sectors. So far we have recovered all these drives successfully. Recovery times on these drives are increasing as imaging and then extraction of the data take longer. We are now commencing another upgrade in our office to handle these drives in less time. Data Recovery is a constantly changing business keeping up with the latest technologies and tools. We just completed work on this Western Digital 8TB drive, 100% recovery.

07.01.2022 Total Data Recall Sydney, We are asked on a daily basis to recommend drives to our customers that won't fail. To date we have not yet found a drive that does not fail. some drives fail more and some less, but end of day they will fail and so it is important to have a good backup in place. If disaster strikes and there is no backup available, you can always call us and we will be happy to recover your data. Our recommendation for drives are Toshiba, We find these drives to be good quality drives.

05.01.2022 Total Data Recall, Dogs and hard drives don't mix well. Recently we received a phone call from a very distressed customer, her dog had chewed her hard drive and the drive was no longer working. We received the drive and saw the case had teeth marks through the plastic, upon removing the drive form the casing we found bite marks in the metal lid, We commenced work in the cleanroom, opening the drive and found the heads damaged and magnet also bent. After basically replacing the heads, magnets and bearing assembly on the drive, basically a full drive rebuild internally, we were able to commence drive imaging and recover nearly all the data on the drive, We recovered years of work and travel photos, a very happy customer.

Lately we are seeing more drives coming in for recovery that have had failed data recovery attempts on them, by the end user or so called friends who work in it. while working in IT generally means you have a good understanding of using or programming computers it does not mean that you are suddenly a data recovery expert.... Generally with these cases we find that what could of been a simple fix, either turns into a more complicated and expensive fix, or in some cases the hard drives are so badly destroyed internally that you have no chance of ever seeing your data again. Finger prints on platters, applying oil to the head assembly to make it move freely, placing the drive in a freezer, replacing circuit boards because the internet said so generally will not get your data back. Drives are manufactured in very clean and controlled environments and when we work on the hard drives internally, we have very specific environments we work in, one of them being a Class 100 Clean Room to ensure we do not contaminate the drive internally with dust. With that we have very specialised tools and not to forget very specific and specialised knowledge gained form years and years of experience dealing with thousands of drives each year. Do yourself a favour, if your data is important ensure that you deal with a real professional, with proper skills, knowledge and proper full Class 100 Clean Rooms to work on your drive.

We successfully repaired the 4 dead drives and rebuilt the damaged RAID configuration to recover all data successfully. Total Data Recall copied all data to a spare unit supplied by the customer....
