24.01.2022 Rescheduled Kapunda Football Club AGM

24.01.2022 Colour Explosion KPS 2020

24.01.2022 OLDHAM AND WHITE STREETS, KAPUNDA LAND RELEASE After facilitating the successful relocation of Kapunda Bowling Club to the Dutton Park recreation precinct, Li...ght Regional Council has now resolved to activate the former Bowling Club site in Oldham and White Streets by subdividing the land. The lots to be released to the market are a mix of community titles over four (4) recently built high quality 2br units and up to seven (7) torrens title allotments ranging in area from 470m2 to 583m2. The site is attractively located just 200 metres from Kapunda’s iconic Main Street, an important market consideration for the units, for which there is a current under-supply of in the region. With Australia's regional areas having had their largest net inflow of people since the Australian Bureau of Statistics started measuring internal migration in 2001, the Council’s decision is timely to ensure the right mix of land supply occurs between fringe township areas and those closer to main street precincts. The Council had previously approved a small retirement village to proceed on the site, however market conditions did not result in sufficient uptake in order to proceed under that direction. The Council expects that in time, development of land that was rezoned for seniors living closer to the Kapunda Hospital, between Nash and Maxwell Streets, will provide high quality facilities for retirement living at scale. The Council will soon receive a report to consider options on whether it should retain ownership of the former Bowling Clubroom building on the site for community use, sell off as a home renovation project or demolish and subdivide as two vacant torrens title allotments for sale. Regardless of that decision, the project involving the relocation of the Kapunda Bowling Club and activation of its former site is forecast to be cost neutral to the Council over the life of the development. Interested purchasers can view further details on both the vacant allotments and units for sale via conventional real estate channels such as realestate.com.au and domain.com.au . For further information please contact Economic Development Project Manager, Darby Schultz on 8525 3200 or [email protected]

22.01.2022 [Update - click 'See More' for details] Hey all, Thank you for those that attended the meeting tonight at Kapunda Bowling Club, great to catch up.... Due to the current environment, were looking to keep things simple for the 2021 Kapunda Charity Car Cruise. Were really looking forward to this one and planning is underway! A quick summary/update: - Dates for 2021 are March 5-6-7 (March 8th is a Public Holiday). - Well start off at Lil Mos for breakfast on Friday, March 5, approx. 8:30 am kick-off. - On the evenings of March 5-6, well be parked up and staying in Peterborough SA! - There are several options for accommodation, youll need to book your own asap, we can provide you with contact details. - No need to order new polo shirts, well be recycling the previous years shirts. - No need to buy tickets or go hard organising auction items for the auction dinner, well be skipping it in 2021, and having a get together at the Clare Castle hotel on Sunday, late afternoon of March 7th. - Well be ramping up fun stops/activities, and dress up themes. - The entry fee is $250 per person, with all funds being donated. - More detail/updates to follow as we progress. Whats happening with previous and new funds raised? - The hospital has reassured us theyre intending to spend all the money previously donated and, of course, any future donations. - Due to COVID, there have been many roadblocks/restrictions imposed on them, however, some funds have been used to buy essential things, including new washing and drying machines for the aged care facility, and a majority of remaining funds are currently planned for finishing the helipad and other hospital upgrades, among other things. - The reason funds werent immediately used for the existing helipad (as originally intended) is the Government is now looking to upgrade all helipads in SA as part of an initiative to replace all Rescue 1 helicopters. If youre interested in joining us in 2021, please contact Colin Bolt on 0416 214 956 or message us here and well get a registration form to you asap. Numbers are limited for obvious reasons so first in first served. Looking forward to another cracking year of touring our beautiful state, great fun, laughs, and raising funds for a great cause. Sincerely KCCC committee.

18.01.2022 Our Wednesdays have become regular at U3A Kapunda Community Garden project. We've been taking turns on the slasher and are bringing lawn mowers and petrol next ...week. We're on the lookout for butterflies and discussed the garden as a future exhibition site for an endangered insect exhibition. Only cabbage moths were found when we searched for butterflies. We planted butterfly bush near the insect hotel and uncovered the hardenburgias. The Calendula are in full bloom. Planted lots of celery and prepared the raised beds. Still harvesting minuette and broccoli. All the pruning is finished. We'll start summer plantings next week. Almost put up the new shed but it was too windy. All covid materials and guidelines were put out early at 9am . Remember to 'like' sharing wisdom in the third age and scroll down to find out about the history of U3A Kapunda Community Garden project as well as lots of other useful information. A big thanks to our interpred team who turn up every week, even on the coldest, wettest day of the year!!

18.01.2022 Mega Garage Sale not taking place this year The Kapunda Mega Garage Sale normally organised by the Kapunda Business Alliance for the first Saturday in November ...will not be taking place this year. On behalf of the organisers of mega garage sales in various Light Regional Towns, Council’s Community Development Officer Lorinda Bayley kindly followed up what would need to be in place to run these events in compliance with Government COVID-19 rules and guidelines. It quickly became apparent that these were such that it is not feasible for the organising groups to run them in a COVID-safe manner this year. Hopefully they will be able to return next year. 01.01.2022 The Ukupundas Term 3 Limelight Concert Brightly dressed and eager to celebrate another term of great uking and warm friendship, The Ukupundas gathered to pl...ay and share their music with one another on Wednesday, September 23. During the term, groups and duets formed and the brave ones the soloists, entertained us singing a variety of songs from a range of genres and eras. We sang or hummed along, laughed at the various antics and jokes and generally had a really uproariously good time. We welcomed a new member, Georgina Barlow, and greeted an old friend and past member of the group, Kate Jenkins, who came along to accompany Colin Hamper in Johnny Cashs version of an old uke favourite, You are my sunshine. Half-way through the event, a BYO morning tea was enjoyed by all where we chatted to one another whilst making sure we socially-distanced. Due to COVID restrictions, we really missed having our rellies and friends join us this time but better to be safe than sorry. Perhaps it wont be long before we can all enjoy one another s company again at another great end-of-term Limelight Concert. Sandra Heath, Leader, The Kapunda Ukulele Group
