11.01.2022 Quick Update: I got the yellow jersey! I feel like I’m on the Tour de France... This is as close as I’ll ever come.

10.01.2022 Day 3: Done!! I had a mechanical just before the first drink stop when my saddle came loose so I was quickly ushered in to the support vehicle. Bruce Webster ca...me to the rescue with his car full of tools which meant that I was back on the road again after that. Not long after, as I was peddling up a hill my right foot slid out so I knew I had an issue with my cleat. This happened 4 more times along the way and resulted in me pulling a muscle in my leg shunting my ankle hard against the pedal so back in the support vehicle. I had a closer look and the top of my cleat had cracked and separated. I tried calling Luke to bring me my spare shoes but there was no reception and frankly my leg wasn’t feeling good. Luckily the medics gave me good drugs that morning for my bad back. I had a good vantage point from the support vehicle and am in awe of those cyclists that were clearly hurting but giving it everything they had. I finally got in touch with Luke and he quickly zoomed out to meet us so I could swap shoes and rejoin the pack for our entrance in to Cooktown! As the top fundraiser I got to cycle at the front of the pack and was feeling quite emotional about it all. Thank you to all the pack Leaders, support crew, SES and everyone that works together to make this such an awesome and safe adventure. If you haven’t done it, next year is the 15th anniversary so get on to it!!

10.01.2022 Thank you all for your support of the #CardiacChallenge fundraising.
