15.01.2022 Great news for Broome with the popular Shinju Matsuri festival set to celebrate its 50th edition, kicking off on August 29, 2020. The festival was initially called off earlier this year because of the threat of COVID-19. 14.01.2022 Exciting news for some of WAs most iconic natural attractions and tourism drawcards, with $150 million to be spent on upgrades and improvements under the WA Recovery Plan. The funding includes: a $31 million investment to upgrade Rottnest Islands ageing water supply and road network a new $10 million caf and function centre at Perth Zoo... a $3.84 million injection into the Camping with Custodians program to help communities on the Dampier Peninsula build a new camp site, and upgrade another two. 06.01.2022 Eligible tourism operators are encouraged to submit their application for the recently announced WA Tourism Recovery Fund. The fund provides an initial $10.4 million in one-off cash grants for up to 1,600 individual small businesses around the State. The $6,500 grants will provide immediate support to eligible tourism operators, with annual taxable wages of less than $1 million, including accommodation, attraction, and tour and transport businesses. Any business that has been using their own QR code to date to maintain a contact register, must also now provide the Safe WA app as an option for their customers to give people a choice on their preferred registration platform. Bunbury’s original inhabitants, the Nyoongar people, hunted and fished throughout the Koombana Bay area for thousands of years. Artist and didgeridoo player Troy Bennell weaves his cultural knowledge into an array of Dreamtime stories and whimsical yarns about traditional and contemporary Aboriginal life, sacred sites, the Nyoongar six seasons and Dolphin Dreaming, linking to Koombana Bay’s population of wild bottlenose dolphins.
