22.01.2022 Home care for Aged care is a rort for support coordination services. They don’t use the funds to care for the aged. They sit on it and earn interest for their o...wn organisations. Greedy bastards prey on the aged who prefer to remain in their own homes as opposed to going into an aged care facility where they’re often abused and receive low standards of care if any. Minister for aged care Richard Colbec is a dodgy scoundrel and needs to go. He’s absolutely useless, ineffective and inefficient. I wait for the day he ends up in a care facility and whinges and whines all the way to his grave. No respect, compassion or consideration for our elderly folk See more

21.01.2022 Townsville Region Committee on the Ageing Voice for Seniors SHOULD YOU TAKE YOUR MONEY OUT OF SUPER? After reading headlines about super balances shrinking because of the effect of the pandemic on the market it would seem natural to conclude you should take your money out. Ian Yates, CEO of Council on the Ageing ( COTA) says this is not the answer. He points to the experience of retirees in the GFC. Once they had taken their diminished funds out of super they had no way of...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Tonight was the night of our first gig. It was the most humbling experience I have been through in a long time. The energy that was given off by the residents at the Glendale Rest Home was beyond description. They sang with us, they danced and they enjoyed themselves. They encouraged us to sing well and they asked us for more. I was ashamed of myself as I had pretty well written the night of as another rehearsal to the 4 walls. I was reminded in spectacular fashion that there... are times I should keep my mouth firmly shut and my mind firmly open. As I looked around the room I saw young ladies and young gentlemen as how they used to be...before their bodies and their minds broke down. Through the power of music and song their combination of enjoyment and enthusiasm were enough to make me cry and blub my way through Silent Night. I couldn’t stop. As their voices rose to match ours it was overwhelming. I was touched to the core by every one of them and the beautiful staff who clearly love what they do. Sometimes God just needs to give me a wake up call, a sharp swift one to the arse and the universe could not have placed me in a more appropriate setting for just that. We were asked when will you be back Rod told them in 365 days, but I think I will be seeing them before then. I’ll make sure mine and Debbies first DiVa Duo concert will be held there. aroha See more

16.01.2022 While im at it I will explain a bit of my thinking.... when i constantly see people here on local facebook groups writing comments about children saying "little cunts' fkn maggots' CONSTANTLY. . I can clearly see the hate.... these are CHILDREN. ... yes they are stealing cars and out of control but people are loosing their fkn minds to not see a bigger picture. When the fk did we as a society make it ok to want to hate CHILDREN ..... I was once a so called "little cunt" and a "fkn maggot' doing the wrong thing.... ALL I EVER NEEDED WAS A FKN ADULT TO SHOW ME SOME LOVE AND SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE ...instead of the crap I got dealt and what these kids probably have to live through... these CHILDREN are victims of circumstance and the so called adults in this town piss me right fkn off (Opinion piece from a friend on fb)

10.01.2022 Someone once said, when you love someone with dementia you lose them more and more everyday. When they are diagnosed, when they go through different stages, when they go into care and when they die. This is called Ambiguous Loss. ‘Rapidly shrinking brain’ is how doctors described it. I wouldn't wish Dementia on anyone. As the persons brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They can eventually become bedridden, unable to m...ove and unable to eat or drink. There will be people who will scroll by this message because dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has fought or is fighting a battle against Dementia. To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would appreciate it if my friends could put this on your page for today. Hold your finger anywhere on the message to copy and paste to your Timeline. Thank you For all those that have had friends or family members living with Dementia . And to all the Caregivers in facilities looking after these lost souls Big Hugs A special thank you to all willing to post to their time lines.
