21.01.2022 Great Friday night on the courts!
21.01.2022 Sadly the day has arrived, our last playing night for 2020. Social starting at 6pm, finishing at 830pm. It's been one crazy year but your support since badminton resumed for the second half of the year has been amazing. Great to see so many new faces enjoying playing our sport. Enjoy the break, nurse those niggling injuries, get the racket restrung and see you back in January.
21.01.2022 For the interest of our members, you are eligible to play in the Queensland Open Championships in Brisbane. For further information see below.
21.01.2022 Wednesday social is back on this week, 7-9pm as usual. See you all then.

16.01.2022 Social badminton on from 6pm to 830pm tonight. Early notice there will be no badminton on Wednesday 9th June. Next week social will be on Tuesday from 630pm & Friday from 6pm.
15.01.2022 A reminder that social badminton is on Wednesday from 7-9pm and Friday 6-830pm this week and next week. Due to the government holding the entire WNBL season in North Queensland, the stadium will be heavily used for basketball matches for an extended period. So an early heads up, that Friday 6th November will be our last playing night for some weeks. When the entire schedule has been worked out we will be advised of a return playing date. We will of course pass this onto you. So head on down, play as much badminton as you can before we have a break.
13.01.2022 Badminton Australia is running a survey for a new national strategic plan. Please take a few moments to fill out the survey and contribute. https://bit.ly/31vkoir

11.01.2022 Reminder Friday night social is on again from 6pm to 830pm tonight. Now, a few house keeping issues, this is important so please read carefully: 1. We start playing at the nominated time, not before. No players are to start until a Townsville Badminton Committee representative has signed into the facility and signed off on the Covid19 checklist we complete each night. If you turn up early, wait outside until our playing time starts. This is a regulation by the stadium operato...rs and also government covid regulations which our association adhears to. There are no exceptions to this. 2. No player is to start until they have signed in and paid. If you are using direct deposit have proof of payment ready to show to save time. 3. Finishing times, don't kick off a game 5 minutes before the end and expect a 31 point game. You all wear watches, you all know what time we finish. We shouldn't have to ask several times to leave the court and go home. 4. When you are finished, help out by collecting the used shuttles and returning them to the payment desk. 5. This one we can't believe has been brought up with us. Its been reported that some players are refusing to play with certain people, possibly due to a lower skill level. This is extremely sad to hear. You turn up you play with who ever is free at the time. This is especially the case on busy nights like we had on Wednesday. You don't like this rule, don't turn up. One would expect that those with more playing experience would be willing to play those with less to help them become better players. We also have a large influx of new players at the moment who are keen and want to get better and have some fun. By refusing to play with people it discourages them from returning hurting our association and our future playing numbers. I hope you all make our new players welcome. Thank you.
11.01.2022 Social times for this week - Tuesday 630-9pm (4 courts) Wednesday 7-9pm (8 courts) Friday 6-830pm (8 courts). Reminder to please look after the shuttles. You don't always need a new shuttle for every game. We have also noticed a large amount of shuttles "disappearing" from the tubes in short time. Shuttles are our biggest expenditure. Failure to look after them, and/or taking more than you need will require us to increase playing fees.
11.01.2022 Hello badminton lovers, usual social times are back this week - Tuesday 630-9pm (4 courts) Wednesday 7-9pm (8 courts) Friday - 6-830pm (8 courts) See you at the stadium
11.01.2022 hi everyone, hope you had a great weekend. An update regarding the coming week. Wednesday night social will continue as usual, 7pm-9pm with 8 courts. Friday night social will also make a comeback from 6pm-830pm with 8 courts. Now there wont be any junior coaching, but because juniors haven't had any play yet this year we will be setting aside a few courts for juniors to play some games together. Junior playing fees will remain at $5 each. Friday night is not locked in every week at this point, will be a trial to test numbers. Any questions please comment, send us a message or email at [email protected]
11.01.2022 Attention all players - a reminder regarding the rules still in place regarding covid19. Every person entering the stadium must sign in with their full details at the badminton desk where you pay - every night. If you don't sign in you will not play and will leave the stadium. Do not invite your friends down to spectate, players only. The only exception here is parents escorting children to play. In this case, all attendees including juniors and parents must sign in. All soci...al distancing restrictions remain in place. Chairs are spaced 1.5m apart - they are not to be moved around. No shaking hands and make use of the hand sanitiser provided by both us and the Stadium. Bring your own racket. If you are sick or unwell do not attend. If you have returned from overseas or traveled from Victoria or NSW in the last 14 days you should be in quarantine and do not attend. These rules are not for debate nor are they in place to annoy you, they are government regulations and if we don't stick by them we get shut down. So if you cant abide by them, don't bother turning up. Playing indoor sport right now is privilege, it is not a right. These rules are going to be in place for along time so get used to it and stick with it. Thank you. See more
10.01.2022 Just an update regarding the latest Covid19 information for Queensland. As you may have heard today, due to an increase in reported cases around Brisbane there have been some changes to the number of people allowed in gatherings. At this stage, these changes does not include sport. It remains business as usual for us. However it shows that we are all sitting on a very fine line. And this is why Townsville Badminton and stadium operator Townsville City Council have strict guid...elines in place which we all need to continue to follow. There is still a high risk of the virus spreading and we cannot be complacent. Most importantly, if you are sick with any cold or flu like symptoms don't go out into any public places or work and contact Queensland Health. A list of measures for our sport is pinned to the top of our facebook page, we ask all players re read through these measures and stick by them. Thank you. See more
09.01.2022 Same playing times this week and next week. Wednesday 7-9pm and Friday 6-830pm. Have a great week.
09.01.2022 Reminder, social badminton from 6pm to 830pm tonight. 6 courts, other 2 will be for junior players only. Reminder to bring your racket. All covid19 social distancing measures remain in place. If you are sick, traveled from overseas, anywhere in Victoria or from Sydney do not come down to play, you should be isolating for 14 days. And as a safety, please download the government Covid19 app. With a few cases again in Queensland its better to be safe, we don't want to go back into a non sporting playing lock down again.
05.01.2022 Attention all players - As usual our Wednesday (7pm) and Friday (6pm) social times remain in place this week. However, in bad news this will be our last playing week for 2020. Due to the announcement the entire WNBL season will be played in North QLD the stadium will be constantly used for basketball games up to Christmas. As is usual practice the stadium will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period. It is also usual practice for us to take a six week break between C...hristmas and end of January. Due to this forced break before Christmas Townsville Badminton has decided to resume playing straight after the New Year break. Exact times and dates will be advised, but as a guide will be around the week of January 4th. While this decision is out of our hands, we apologise for any inconvenience this causes. We hope you can all come down for a final hit around this week and please take the opportunity to support the WNBL and Townsville Fire in their upcoming season at Townsville Stadium. If you have any further questions please speak to either Terry or Michael this week. Thank you. See more
05.01.2022 Reminder social badminton is on again tonight at 6pm. Important that all people entering the facility register on arrival. Whether you are a player or just watching, child or adult - everyone must register. With Brisbane city going into a lock down period it is more important than ever we continue to maintain tracing as per government regulations.

03.01.2022 Our Annual General Meeting is being held at 6pm on Wednesday at the stadium, prior to social. We ask that all members attend to vote in a new committee. This is also a great opportunity to have input in the future of our club. Without volunteers to help run this club behind the scenes we will cease to exist. Please make the attempt to get there. Social times this week - Tuesday 630-9pm (4 courts Wednesday 7-9pm (AGM at 6pm, 8 courts)... Friday - 6-830pm (8 courts). See more
