03.01.2022 Marine biologist and photographer Johnny Gaskell has just completed an epic 1-year trip mapping the Great Barrier Reef to give the world an update on it's condi...tion. These stunning shots are a selection, from as far north as Cape York and the Ribbon Reef, to the southern tip of the reef at Gladstone and Lady Elliot Island. For for all of you out there asking? Here's what the Great Barrier Reef looks like. What a stunner. The purpose of this expedition was to get in the water with no set agenda other than to explore and take in as much of the incredible beauty of the Great Barrier Reef as possible. And then film the highlights to inspire others to want to protect what we still have. #thisisqueensland

01.01.2022 Around 300 people in Townsville said they felt a magnitude 4.8 earthquake that was recorded 80km south of Charters Towers today, in a remote area of North Queen...sland. Geosciences Australia says most people have reported it felt like a rattling vibration that lasted a few seconds. Townville local Adele said she thought it was a training exercise at the nearby army base at first. "I was in the greenhouse and the hanging plants shook, and the fish pond rippled. It stunned my fish I think because they froze and didn't move for a few seconds." Earthquakes are not uncommon in this region. The last earthquake was a magnitude 5.8 off the coast of Bowen in 2016.
