21.01.2022 Mindful Moment - Adaptability With all the changes and uncertainty over these past few months, and a growing realisation that predicting what next year looks li...ke, even predicting what the next few months will look like, is becoming less convincing. Our ability to adapt, and adapt quickly, to changing circumstances has become ever more important. As a characteristic, adaptability allows for more psychological flexibility and often results in better mental health, easier relationships, and smoother transitions. So how do we develop adaptability and use it in our personal and professional lives more effectively? Ex-colleagues of Biancas in the UK, working in elite sport and business (e.g. Manchester City Football Club and the GB Cycling Team to name a couple), have been studying just that. And if youre interested in their process of measuring and developing adaptability for performance, feel free to reach out to Rowing Australia Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement Manager, Bianca Fermi. 19.01.2022 If you have ANY symptoms you NEED to go and get tested. It could just be the sniffles, but it could be COVID-19 and we cant afford to take that risk. To find your nearest fever clinic, visit: https://www.qld.gov.au/covid19testing.

19.01.2022 R E M I N D E R If youre displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, get tested, and rest at home until youre no longer displaying ANY symptoms AND youve received a negative result on your test. 17.01.2022 WATER MAIN RUPTURE UPDATE #3 - 12 December Townsville and Magnetic Island residents and business owners must immediately restrict water consumption to emergency... use only (drinking water and toilets). This means turning off your irrigation and no handheld watering, no showers, no washing clothes or dishes, filling up pools, or washing vehicles or boats. Council continues to work to repair a ruptured 1.3 metre diameter pipe which supplies the Douglas Water Treatment Plant, the city’s primary water treatment facility, and bring the city’s water network back to full capacity. Emergency water use only will help maintain basic supply for everyone and help Council restore full supply to the city sooner. Council officers and staff from external contractors BMD, NQ Excavations and CivilPlus have made good progress in replacing the ruptured pipe overnight. Council thanks these contractors for their support. The ruptured pipe has been removed and work is now underway to install the new section of pipe. It is expected to take at least 24 hours to fully re-charge the water system once the pipe is repaired and pumping has recommenced. During this time, some parts of the Townsville may experience issues with water supply. The city’s water reserves are critically low and being further depleted. A further assessment of the repair work will be conducted around 12pm and an update provided to the community around 1pm. Residents and business owners should monitor Townsville City Council’s Disaster Dashboard for latest information and updates http://disaster.townsville.qld.gov.au/

11.01.2022 COVID-19 detected at Townsville wastewater plant Townsville Public Health Unit has detected traces of COVID-19 in the Cleveland wastewater treatment plant.... It is the third time Townsville has returned a positive result from sewage testing, with the last on 19 December 2020. People shouldn’t be alarmed but they shouldn’t be complacent either, if you are sick go and get tested and then stay home until you get your results. This surveillance testing is extremely sensitive. It picks up tiny pieces of genetic material (RNA) of COVID-19. This is dead virus material so there is no risk to the community. The community should still be vigilant for COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat or loss of smell or taste. People with any of these symptoms, no matter how mild, should get tested immediately at one of our testing locations. Opening hours and locations: 1300 Smiles Stadium COVID-19 drive-through community assessment clinic Location: Eastern carpark of the 1300 Smiles Stadium in Kirwan. We encourage the community to use this clinic as their first preference. Opening hours: 8.00AM 6.00PM, seven days a week. Reid Park drive-through COVID-19 community assessment clinic Location: Reid Park, next to the Townsville Civic Theatre on Boundary Street. Please follow the signs. Opening hours: 8.00AM 4.00PM, Monday to Friday.

08.01.2022 Members, make sure you keep an eye on your emails for further updates about our COVIDSafe practices as they continue to develop. Things are still changing regularly, so its important to keep up to date with what the requirements are. Were rolling out EVA Check-in this week to help speed up the sign in and sign out process at training. Boats must still be written in the book, but all other members of the crew can sign in through the app. For example, a coxed boat might have the coxswain sign the boat out in the book, but the rest of the crew can use the app. Theres a QR code at the door that you can scan to sign in.
