24.01.2022 Saw this fantastic film clip today on the television. Felt so proud that I had to post it! Can see that there are students from Thuringowa State High School . This was the very first school that employed me on a full-time basis. Even though I was the teacher, I was so privileged to have been taught many things about life from the students. From my perspective, this is a school that punches well above its weight! Congratulations

23.01.2022 I was given three beautiful mother’s day presents yesterday- first Mother’s Day gifts i have ever received.... did I mention I’m 39, I’m not a mother, and my lovely ‘children’ were my beautiful clients??? I didn’t ask for anything but my kids love me enough to know it’s always a difficult day for potential/wanna-be mothers no matter what happens Lol I know right?! I’m so lucky. Oh and the gifts were true ‘Mother’s Day, kid-style, Hans crafted presents as well- a handmade n...ecklace, a hand reared plant with my fav colour purple flowers, a loveheart shaped shortbread and choc bikkie. Needless to say I showed weakness and my eyes watered, voice shook etc but only for a little bit. Scared of my tears and goobers we chose to complete difficult but interesting Friday afternoon narrative responses instead. I’m blessed to work with such incredible young minds that value, demonstrate and actually embody the concepts of love, kindness, generosity and above all, empathy and concern for those who, through no fault of their own, miss out on important societal traditions and celebrations.

21.01.2022 This is a very interesting video about the problems with the modern schooling system. Makes a lot of sense...

19.01.2022 Be that champion

18.01.2022 So cute is watching their reaction after it! Awwww

16.01.2022 Nicky-Bidju Pryor - a fantastic story for any child who is thinking about following their dreams. This man has been nothing but an inspiration for myself and so many other people. I was blessed to work with him during my time at council. Well done Nicky. So proud to know you mate.

15.01.2022 Being outside is an enjoyable way to learn about the world around us. Children with adhd, add and dyslexia benefit from spending time outside participating in activities that use their hands and engage their senses. Being stuck inside, behind a desk with the expectation of silence, stillness and attentiveness will almost always cause problems for kids with learning difficulties/disabilities - they are regularly misdiagnosed with behavioural disorders, and aren’t recognised... or praised for their inquisitiveness and desire to learn. Outside activities with less structure than classroom activities will usually allow children with dyslexia, add or adhd to flourish and demonstrate their true intelligence- to be honest, seeing children who are labelled as ‘difficult’ or ‘defiant’, step up and enthusiastically share their knowledge with their peers is so lovely Success breeds success, which is why every child’s education must incorporate successful learning experiences. 13.01.2022 Relationships are KEY!

10.01.2022 I wish teachers knew . . .

08.01.2022 I am somebody who is against NAPLAN and the way the test is conducted. Slowly, NAPLAN is gaining greater importance in our schools, despite the fact that it has been widely criticised by educators, researchers and experts in the field. There are even trials being carried out in schools where students now have to pass the year 9 NAPLAN test in order to graduate from high school and earn a place at University! While I understand that basic literacy and numeracy skills, as well as the ability to write effectively, is important, I do not believe the year 9 NAPLAN test develops these skills. Therefore it should not be used in trials of this nature. This article is from an educational expert who doesn't agree with the way the NAPLAN written test is marked. It is very interesting. https://www.theguardian.com//bizarre-naplan-writing-test-m

07.01.2022 Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire - I love this quote. Especially because it rings true in my own life. I hated school because the work was so boring (textbook anyone?). Also I hate being told what to do and felt trapped, claustrophobic 'under the thumb' of 'the man' so to speak! If your child has resisted all efforts to read, write or work on Maths, at some point you cannot keep forcing learning upon your child. They either want to learn or they don't.... If your child has lost the spark or doesn't seem to have one, never fear! You can contact me and I will try to help you..... I love learning and my passion for education always shines through.

04.01.2022 Effective immediately! I QUIT is a great video that encourages us to let go of the things that hold us back. Fear, emotional baggage, previous experiences and the doubts and expectations of others should never stand in the way of us giving 100%, standing tall and living our dreams. You don’t have to hold yourself back or out yourself down. Forgive yourself. I

02.01.2022 IT'S A BLUE DAY TOMORROW! One of our friends in 1B, Patrick Gregory, is very sick and in hospital in Brisbane. He will be there for at least 6 months and tomorr...ow we are having a 'Wear Blue for Patrick Day' to raise money to assist his family during this difficult time. Please wear blue (remembering sun safety and closed-in shoes) and bring a gold coin donation. We are most grateful for your prayers and assistance.
