22.01.2022 NATIONAL SORRY DAY - 26TH OF MAY 2020 "On the 26th of May 1997 the landmark 'Bringing them Home' report was tabled in Federal parliament. 'Bringing them Home' is the final report of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from Their Families and was conducted by the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (now called the Australian Human Rights Commission) between 1995 and 1997.... On 26 May 1998, the first National Sorry Day was held to commemorate the anniversary of the report and remember the grief, suffering and injustice experienced by the stolen generations" - https://humanrights.gov.au//get-/events/national-sorry-day Towri MACS acknowledges the history of National SORRY DAY, and recognise's this day as significant to the healing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children, and therefore we provided our children with the opportunity to celebrate our Indigenous Culture and our continuing sense of pride and strength through story time, art and symbols.

18.01.2022 ATSI Children's Day 2020 theme: 'We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice' honours our Elders custodians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional knowledge, passed down to our children through stories and cultural practice.
