13.01.2022 BOOSTING APPRENTICESHIP COMMENCEMENTS WAGE SUBSIDY To assist with the recovery from the impact of COVID-19, the Australian Government is providing support t...o all eligible employers who engage a new Australian Apprentice. The Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy supports businesses and Group Training Organisations to take on new apprentices and trainees, to build a pipeline of skilled workers to support sustained economic recovery. Through the subsidy, any business or Group Training Organisation that engages an Australian Apprentice between 5 October 2020 and 30 September 2021 may be eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of wages paid to a new or recommencing apprentice or trainee for a 12-month period from the date of commencement, to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter. 08.01.2022 $1.2 BILLION APPRENTICE EMPLOYMENT INCENTIVE Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business has announced a $1.2... billion investment to support businesses to employ 100,000 new apprentices and trainees. Commencing on 5 October 2020, businesses who take on a new Australian apprentice will be eligible for a 50 per cent wage subsidy. The subsidy will be available to employers of any size or industry, Australia-wide, who engage an Australian apprentice or trainee from 5 October 2020 until the 100,000 cap is reached. Employers will be eligible for 50 per cent of the wages for a new or recommencing apprentice or trainee for the period up to 30 September 2021, up to maximum of $7,000 per quarter. This builds on the existing $2.8 billion invested in the Supporting Apprentices and Trainees wage subsidy that is assisting employers to retain their apprentices and trainees. Further information will be available over the next few days.
