23.01.2022 For the lay person this explains some differences between mowing and slashing. Basically slashing leaves a row of grass and is nowhere near as neat, but is quicker and the machinery is 1/3 the price. Mowing or flailing is a lot slower and needs more horsepower but leaves an excellent finish. 17.01.2022 I deep ripped this and multi tyne ripped this as when you rotary how in highly clay soils you can create a hard pan that roots cant penetrate. Advised the client to get as much bio mass into the soil as possible and consider a clay breaker so he can do what he wants. Soil is very black but forms a ball when scrunched

14.01.2022 So tomorrows job... maintenance and upgrades Ive been putting off! So for the rotary hoe, a few blades to changes and some rust to attend to, might also make a coulter or bed firer to trail behind it. Little yellow slashes copped a beating on a log so need to tear it down and replace the brackets, might do bearings while Im there. Blue slasher needs some bolts tighter and a small weld. The harrows need some extra bars fabricated to assist with weight. Going to also start looking for some disk plows and mouldboards for those that want that work. But longer term I want a direct seeder... but yeah 20 k not viable. Yet Im going to look at a new rotary how tomorrow that spins a lot faster and has l tynes which are way more efficient compared to the old Howard! Hope to get one quick hitch compatible...

But its amazing the things that you find in the wildlife that you get to see mowing this old school site this morning I found what I can only assume is the old cricket pitch there was also three different types of lizard and about five different Mammals and a few birds species that live in grasslands like finches and quails. About halfway through the video youll see a water rat thats very unhappy with me

08.01.2022 So today I did some work in Ripley, the client wanted to make softer tracks for his horses to get exercise on. So I did some ripping and box blading. You wont hear much in the videos above the engine!

08.01.2022 we currently have 2 tractors, this all started with a 1980s model kubota b6000 we call "Boris" recently i was able to geta access to a kubota bx2660 we call her "Bex" and we use both to do jobs, boris is no show horse but as long as its not too hot he still cuts very well, but needs some serious TLC... Bex is way newer and 10hp bigger at 26hp and she can do things a bit faster and has both a loader and mid mount finishing deck. if things grow ill be looking for a 40-60hp tr...actor to do way bigger acerages as its not economical to do more than 5 acres with our current cutters in fresh green grass. most of the attachments i have were bought for Boris so Bex can handle them with ease, Im also always looking for more implements that will solve clients problems. maybe a wood chipper or a post hole auger next? if you were me what would be the one thing you would attach to bex for her to do more work????

07.01.2022 Quick video of a flail mower in grass with some other organic matter like sticks and such. Leaves a nice mulched trail and no windrows. can be slower than slashing, and the machine requires a bit more maintenance but can leave an excellent finish
