25.01.2022 UPDATE ON UPCOMING CLASS CHANGES: This Saturday 12th June is in the Geebung UC halll as usual NEXT Saturday 19th June is in my studio due to hall unavailability and is currently fully booked. (Please let me know if you can no longer attend).... The next 2 Tuesday nights will be in the Nundah SS hall. Tuesday nights in the school holidays will run in my studio so you NEED TO BOOK IN as places are limited. All current studio term holders (Monday nights and Thursday mornings), please let me know if you will be returning for term 3 so I can hold your space. No classes on Monday 28th June (1st Monday of the school holidays). All other classes are on in the school holidays (with Tuesday nights being in the studio). That's all for now. Happy Thursday! 22.01.2022 Upside-down Christmas tree In a year that has been so topsy-turvy it seemed only fitting to turn my "Christmas" tree pose upside-down too. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas . 13.01.2022 Prasarita padottanasana is a wonderful posture to stretch both the back of the legs and the inside of the legs (adductors), and with this arm position the front of the shoulders also get a good stretch. Make sure to stretch the mat apart with the feet to allow the adductors to reciprically relax. If you lift your sit bones to the sky you will get a strong hamstring stretch but you will most likely become weaker in your core, so it is better to push the sit bones down. Try i...t both ways and let me know which way feels better! This Saturday is in my studio just for this week due to hall unavailability but we'll be back in Geebung next week. Tuesday nights are in the Nundah State School hall and no bookings required. 12.01.2022 Things I am grateful for this Christmas ... 1. Having a practical family which celebrated Christmas a few days early (on Mum's birthday) so that none of us had to do the crazy drive up the Bruce Highway on Christmas day. Phew! 2. Having a quiet relaxing Christmas day with lots of time to spend in the garden (my happy place) ... 3. Not having to cook anything for Christmas dinner. Yay! 4. Electronic communications which allows us to see and chat to people in real time when we can't be with them. 5. Living in a part of the world which has been able to contain covid well so that our lives are relatively "normal". 6. Cinema nights in my studio while I'm taking a short break. 7. My mum and dad who still do so much for me and my kids and without whom my studio would still be a dream. 8. Time off to catch up with friends and hang with my kids. It feeds the soul. 9. 12.01.2022 Lockdown this weekend has meant I have more time in the garden. Here's the progress in my studio garden... Waterfall construction has commenced and more pavers laid. And the light rain over the past week has given the plants a boost.... It's been so wonderfully quiet. Please can we do lockdown weekend once a month? 03.01.2022 This week we will transition from Autumn to Winter here in the Southern Hemisphere and move from the Metal Element to the Water Element in TCM (it's still Vata season in Ayurveda). Let's give our lung meridian a beautiful stretch with eka pada bhekasana eka pada dhanurasana. This is a wonderful posture to stretch around the front of the shoulders as well as the pectoralis muscles where the lung meridian starts (as well as it being a great stretch down the front of the legs).... No bookings required for my hall classes. 01.01.2022 It's new moon this Thursday, so this week allow yourself to pause and direct your attention and energy inwards as we transition from autumn to winter. There are a couple of places in my studio classes this week if you are quick or join me in my hall classes on Tuesday night at Nundah before it moves to my studio next week or Saturday morning at Geebung.
