08.01.2022 I am Arfa Khan, your local candidate for East Ward . I have lived in Trafalgar since 2012. Like many people in this wonderful community, I am an active volunteer.... I have volunteered as the editor of Traf News and with the Trafalgar Community Development Association to actively advocate for issues affecting Trafalgar. As the mother of two girls, I am very aware of the issues faced by young families. I am grateful to be able to raise my children in this beautiful area, which is why I have volunteered for my children’s playgroup, kindergarten and with school committees. We are living with the impact of a pandemic which has hurt families and businesses. While the path to recovery is uncertain.I believe the council has a significant role to play in supporting local businesses and community groups during the current COVID 19 pandemic and help the community to recover from the economic, human and social impacts of this pandemic. I am standing to : Advocate for our small towns. Speak for the needs of local families and advocate for kindergartens and support services like playgroups. Strongly advocate for the health and wellbeing of our vibrant communities, seniors and people in need. Represent respectful communities and activities that embrace diversity and social inclusion. I’m graduate of Gippsland Community Leadership program graduate,Victoria Leadership New and Emerging leadership program and Of community leading change in environment.I have built my leadership skills through and am ready to serve this community on council. I am a community member of the Latrobe Health Assembly, Latrobe City Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee, and the Victoria Police multicultural taskforce. These forums encouraged me to serve my community in the council where I can work with my values of social justice, integrity and persistence. I advocate in empowering our local communities, listening to their concerns and suggestions to improve the well-being of our communities. Vote 1 Arfa Khan, East Ward - Baw Baw Shire.
