24.01.2022 Congratulations to Pat Carey and the connections of Tippitywichit who was a dominant winner at Pakenham today, strolling in by 3 lengths! Third up since being pre-trained at Trafalgar Lodge, he seemed to appreciate the rise in distance along with being back on a firm surface after running on heavy tracks in his two starts prior. This big gelding was a bit of a challenge to begin with as he was so unbalanced and incapable of engaging his hindquarters that he couldn’t even canter through the corners of the arena, which just makes this result all the more rewarding

22.01.2022 It was fantastic to see Flag Edition win effortlessly today at just her third career start, giving the impression that there are bigger things in store. Congratulations to Michelle Payne and First Light Racing who gave this lovely mare all the time she needed and are now being rewarded for their patience

18.01.2022 We’re super excited to have the very first EquIR Infrared Heater installed at Trafalgar Lodge (pictured). Not only is it fantastic for speeding up drying time and reducing the risk of a horse getting a chill post workout, its main benefit is the way it helps to increase blood circulation and ‘warm up’ the horse before a workout. This in conjunction with our treadmill, Equissage and ultrasound machine will be invaluable for our rehabilitation and strengthening programs. Our Equine Physiotherapist was particularly delighted to work on relaxed horses with nice warm muscles!

16.01.2022 On Thursday we said goodbye to our long term resident Dash as she made her way back to her owners in Sydney. Dash came to Trafalgar Lodge to undergo an extensive and painstaking tendon rehabilitation program, which started with just a 10min walk on the treadmill and slowly built up to 45min of work daily including walk, trot and canter. Daily ultrasound therapy was an important aspect in her rehab, as well as icing her tendons every day without fail, correct bandaging and confinement to a box/small yard. We were so delighted when her final scans showed that her tendons were back to normal and she was able to go home and continue working under saddle. We wish Dash’s lovely owners the best of luck with her and hope to see her back out showjumping in the near future

16.01.2022 Tenacity Miss certainly lived up to her name today with a tough fighting win at Ballarat, congratulations to Michelle Payne and her team This quirky little filly was pre-trained at Trafalgar Lodge and we were so thrilled to see her in the winners circle!

12.01.2022 Michelle Payne’s impressive training form continues with Jukila a dominant winner at Warracknabeal today. A regular pre-trainer at Trafalgar Lodge, he spent a lengthy amount of time with us leading into this prep. Congrats to the MJP team

11.01.2022 These four lovely racehorses all recently completed their pre-training and look to have successful preparations ahead Trafalgar Lodge currently has two spaces available for pre-training/rehab or dressage/showjumping education. Spaces never last long so please PM this page or call to make a booking.

10.01.2022 We’ve been a bit quiet on this page for the past few months! This is mostly due to us no longer offering pre-training as a service since December last year when Emily took on a new job with the Australian Sports Foundation. However there has still been plenty happening with the horses! From Emily competing very successfully with her mare Ruby to us continuing to rehab injured and post surgery horses for clients, we like to keep ourselves busy Both of us work from home so we are still able to offer rehabilitation as a service and provide the same high level of care we are known for, so for anyone that is struggling to find a rehabilitation facility please be aware that we can still help you

08.01.2022 It was fantastic to see Little Mannix win dominantly today at just her third career start, she spent some time in work at Trafalgar Lodge as a 2yo and was a very sweet little filly. Congratulations to Michelle and her team

08.01.2022 Arrival departure. This filly made huge progress during her pre-training and is now ready to commence her first prep with David Hayes. She has been a stable favourite and we can’t wait to see how she performs at the races

07.01.2022 We sure know how to make horses quiet and relaxed at Trafalgar Lodge This 3yo Bel Esprit gelding was completely unfazed by this unplanned desensitising technique, courtesy of our overconfident chook

06.01.2022 We’re very pleased with this mare’s progress whilst in pre-training at Trafalgar Lodge and are looking forward to seeing her at the races

05.01.2022 Congratulations to Michelle Payne for training yet another winner with The Thick of It saluting at Pakenham yesterday. He had some education here as a youngster and was a lovely horse to work with. Currently almost 90% of all the horses that have raced since being rehabilitated and/or pre-trained at Trafalgar Lodge have won or placed

05.01.2022 It was such a thrill to watch El Magnificence (Liam) not only win the 1000m BM70 at Sale today, but to also break the track record in the process!! Liam underwent a very lengthy rehabilitation process at Trafalgar Lodge due to a nasty hindquarter injury, with subsequent pre-training to help get him back in top shape. Congratulations to trainer Pat Carey and all of Liam’s lovely patient owners, so well deserved
