21.01.2022 Beautiful, calming Parks Victoria mindful walk.

18.01.2022 Why is my blog so popular in Russia and the Ukraine?

16.01.2022 David would have loved to know his legacy will keep living on. Thank you Parks Vic and Tanya Smith for ensuring it does through articles like this one in the latest Landcare Magazine. (XxRos)

16.01.2022 Congratulations Parks Victoria for winning gold again and so entering the Victorian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame.

15.01.2022 Asking for money at https://www.kickstarter.com//drdaveta/dr-dave-tackles-life but you will get something back

14.01.2022 Sadly, but with his usual calm and determined spirit, my extraordinary husband, Dr David Stratton took his last gentle breath at 9.23a.m Thursday 6th June, 2019. Thank you to all who have visited this page, who have delighted Dave that you’ve commented and subscribed, and who have supported his passionate effort to ensure that people with disabilities could access national parks and be in other beautiful, natural places. His happy place was being on a trail in the bush and ...up high. Being on the top of the mountain of his own life was his aim. Enabling everyone, regardless of their circumstances, to do the same, was his greatest joy. Thank you to everyone, especially to Donna and Jeanne in Vancouver, and BCMOS, with Sam, Rachel and Geordie who gave Dave his first ever ride in the TrailRider up Cypress Mt in BC; to Parks Victoria, John Kenwright, Joanne and Rodney Brooke, David Roberts, Tanya Smith, and all amazing Park Rangers in the Grampians and other National Parks. Thank you to all the good-hearted, and willing TrailRider-Sherpas everywhere, especially our generous and loving frequent-flyer-sherpa-children: Sam, Jo, Ben, Josh, Flynn, and their partners, Rachel, Caroline and Sarah, for helping to to make Dave’s passion to be in high and wild places, despite his severe disabilities and chronic illnesses, possible. Thank you. XxRos

12.01.2022 In 2016 I was given a TrailRider. Now we have decided that it should be in the visitor centre

09.01.2022 Have you heard about our TrailRiders? A TrailRider is an all-terrain wheelchair that can manage areas and tracks that are normally inaccessible to mobility impa...ired visitors. They are available at Cradle Mountain, Freycinet and Mount Field national parks and are free of charge to use. Bookings need to be made 7 days in advance via the relevant visitor centre. You will need to bring a minimum of two reasonably fit helpers for the shorter easier tracks. For the more challenging tracks PWS staff will be able to give you some more information about how many helpers you will need as it will vary from track to track. You will also need to bring a helmet. Local staff can provide advice on the best routes and talk you though how to use of the TrailRider. To make a booking contact us by email Cradle Mountain [email protected] Mount Field [email protected] Freycinet [email protected]

08.01.2022 The dream fulfilled

06.01.2022 So now the chair is there, in the absence of a Sherpa Volunteer Program (SVP) it is time to use it. Sign up here to be part of it.

03.01.2022 A lovely tribute. Thank you Have Wheelchair Will Travel blog.

02.01.2022 Six years ago today, Parks Victoria, with John Kenwright at the helm, Joshua behind and Flynn taking gorgeous pics, we trialled the TrailRider on a section of the Great Ocean Walk near Otway NP. The next day was David’s 62nd birthday. Precious memories. Dave died 6 months ago. Getting Wheelies as he liked calling himself, into otherwise inaccessible, beautiful places, was the passion of his last 10 years. Bravo my darling. xxRos

01.01.2022 That smile says it all Everyone deserves to get out into nature. The TrailRider all-terrain wheelchair makes it possible for people with mobility limitations ...to enjoy the great outdoors and go places that conventional wheelchairs can't. We can offer the assistance of our wonderful volunteer chair operators at both the Dandenong Ranges and Grampians National Parks (a minimum of two people are needed to operate the TrailRider). TrailRiders are available for use in a number of parks across Victoria, and some local shires also provide them to borrow. It's free to use a TrailRider, but please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Learn more about the TrailRider: https://fal.cn/36jPE
