20.01.2022 2021 Aurora Virtual Opportunity Class On Wednesday 18th November, four Primary students joined 486 students from 160 schools across the state to sit the Selective Schools test as part of their application to the Aurora Virtual Opportunity Class for 2021 and 2022. Ethan Foster, Reggie Thomas, Indie Bond and Drew Evans tackled the test with extreme concentration and perseverence. Regardless of the outcome, we are so proud of the students for their willingness to take on a challenge and for the pride they show in their learning.

16.01.2022 Stage 4 Technology Mandatory - CO2 Dragsters The Stage 4 class is a group of dedicated students who have enjoyed learning about Engineering Systems, Digital Technologies and Material Technologies. The start of Term 4 has seen students complete testing and time trials for their CO2 Dragsters. Taking place on the podium, our champions were: 1st place: Jayden Davis & Chloe Dun... 2nd place: Bridie Hayden 3rd place: Josh Toby We had a few minor mechanical issues but all students were able to successfully race their dragsters. Students have more recently been brushing up on their Digital Technologies skills using Micro-bits, alligator clips and various sensors to develop timing systems during theory lessons. During practical lessons, they have turned their hand to metal work making toolboxes and windchimes. Hailee Fidock I Secondary TAS Teacher

12.01.2022 Gobondery Cup On Wednesday 9th December, we took 16 fabulous TCS representatives to the Gobondery Cup to compete against three other 'T' schools. Unfortunately, on the day we were just pipped at the post by Trundle, but Trangie students definitely brought their A-game to be placed second. In fact, they played so well all day they were truly a pleasure a watch. The students participated in 6 different sports against Trundle, Tullamore and Tottenham. A mix of Army Dodgeball, Vo...lleyball, Diamond Ball, Table Tennis, Kick Tennis and Feather Ball was played with each sport bringing out a different light in each student. We are so proud of them! A big thank you to Mrs Seymour for being our number 1 support crew as well as our wonderful bus driver. Keen for the next competition now! Bella Fawcett I PDHPE Teacher

09.01.2022 Late Spring at TCS The days are heating up and it’s an especially lovely time in our Ag plot. The children’s sunflowers are adding a splash of vibrant colour. The fruit trees have new growth and our very placid hens are laying warm, brown eggs for us. These photos show some of our 4/5 students doing some chores before school begins (watering, collecting eggs, letting the chooks out).... Jacky Murtagh - Assistant Principal

09.01.2022 This was posted in our MU Group and we just had to share, because it's so true. Music and arts education are crucially important!!

05.01.2022 Olympics Unleashed On Wednesday 11th November, in lieu of Sport, Years 5-12 participated in the 'Olympics Unleashed' program, which provided them with the opportunity to engage with a current Olympic athlete. Usually the athlete comes to talk to students in person, but with all of our Covid-19 restrictions, this took place on Zoom instead. Our athlete was Jaime Roberts, who was set to go to Tokyo 2020 Olympics for kayaking events but has had her Olympic journey postponed... to 2021. During our 40 minutes with Jaime she talked about her journey to get to the Olympics, the importance of setting goals and overcoming adversity to achieve them. After our talk and questions with Jaime, students were able to set a goal themselves (not necessarily a sporting goal), to identify the steps to get there and also who would support them on their journey. Looking forward to seeing these goals come to fruition in the future! Maddie Bretag I Sports Coordinator

05.01.2022 Anxiety is all about energy. It’s our brain and body giving us what we need to move ourselves to safety by fighting or fleeing. Every symptom of anxiety is driv...en by that energy - avoidance (fight), big feelings, anger (fight), restlessness, the ‘what if’s’, and the physiological symptoms (sick tummies, sore muscles, racey heart) - you know how it goes. If we can help kids and teens kiddos find somewhere else for that energy to go, it will help bring anxiety back to small enough. A few minutes of something - a run, talking, breathing, grounding - can make a difference. So too can giving their fight or flight another outlet. If they are anxious about a situation or a trauma (anxiety about the planet, a natural disaster or a global trauma), help them find a way they can help. The key is getting kids on board in the moment when anxiety already has a firm hold of them. This can be tricky, so it can help to talk about a plan or strategies when they are calm. If they can start to be aware of the signs in their body that anxiety is about to swoon in and wrap its woolly arms around them, it will be much easier for them to short-circuit anxiety before it gets too big. Remember though, just because someone tells you how to play tennis doesn’t mean you’re going to go out and win a grand slam the next day. Good things take time. Great things take even longer. We’re building beautiful small humans into beautiful big ones, and their greatest elevation towards this will be our love, patience and the invitation we offer all their feelings to exist along the way.

02.01.2022 Scott Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Scott Park, as many people would remember, was a park on the site of our Primary Campus. Trangie Golden Oldies along with Hassads Australia and Trangie Action Group, have generously donated monies to have the original gate design recreated on the original site in Derribong Street. Scott Part was dedicated to Mr T M Scott of Burroway, who was the inaugural Timbrebongie Shire President in 1906 and showed a great interest in the development... of Trangie. On Wednesday 23rd September, the ribbon cutting ceremony took place with the grandsons of TM Scott, Mr Bill Ballhausen and Mr George Mack, unveiling the plaque.

02.01.2022 Marty Paice and the Bike Gang In Week 5, Marty Paice (Police liaison Senior Constable) visited the school to conduct a Road Safety talk with our Cycling Interest Group. The students were receptive to the valuable information and Marty even helped the students determine whether their bikes were road worthy. He also watched our students practise a few MTB (mountain bike) skills. I think he was quite impressed as he expressed interest in packing the Police bike and joi...ning us for a ride around town next time he visits. Since the course commenced, the students have collected donated bikes, cleaned and serviced them, learnt all the mechanical parts of a bicycle, and ridden a course around the school. A few students have even taken the initiative of building bike stands and bike racks which makes us proud and creates an atmosphere of positive energy and commitment which we can use to continue developing the cycling hobby here at TCS. It's great to see our students enjoying fitness, camaraderie and using their practical skills to great effect. Scott McDonald I Secondary Interest Group (Cycling) Coordinator

They have all grown up so much and they’re not just good thinkers and capable students but have also matured into people who demonstrate compassion and consideration for each other. We are so proud of them all. Merry Christmas and best wishes for a happy, restful, summer holiday. ... Love, Ms Murtagh and Miss Noels
