25.01.2022 Thanks Erin Cullen for your outstanding presentation at our dinner meeting on 2 March. Sharing all you learned at RYLA D9820 2019 and all you have reflected upon since December. It was our privilege to co-sponsor you.

25.01.2022 Sooooo much fun and hilarity last night. First dinner meeting of 2020 was our Great Debate with the Morwell Rotary Club. Congrats to their team for the win (it was close...) Adjudicator, George Cornelius did a mighty job- how to keep compusure in the face of seriously great performances ... Well done to both teams, and thanks Morwell members for lifting up our 1st Rotary night of the year. "Its not easy being Green..." #wearerotary #friendship #volunteers

24.01.2022 Today is the last day to donate to the Give a Damn, Give a Can appeal. The Rotary Club of Traralgon Central has been asking the Traralgon community to donate cans to the ‘Give a Damn, Give a Can’ appeal for the past 25 years. The cans collected over this time assist families in need through St Vinnies for up to 6 months.... And it may come as a surprise that the community demographic benefitting from this appeal is wider than might be anticipated. While a good number might be described as requiring regular help, a good number are 'one offs'; out of work, a family crisis or simply running out of money during a regular pay period, whether that be from welfare or paid work. We do this because we believe that together, we can make a difference in our community. - Can donations can be made from Monday 24th to Sunday 30th May either by arranging pick up or dropping off, see all of the details below. -Pick up- We can collect your cans directly from your doorstep. Just send us your address and we’ll be in contact. -Drop off- Drop off your cans at the following locations in Traralgon: 68 Wirilda Cres | 1 Barton Pl | 120 Hickox St | 2 Alfred Crt | 16 Moore St | 4 Nicholson Pl | 88 Kay St | 15 Greenwood Dr | 18 Ethel St | 6 Bellbird Way | 40 Ellavale Drive | 35 Parkwood Way | 31 Grey St | 29 Grubb Ave | 30 Marie St | 8 Curran St | 54 Greenfield Dr | 18 Paul St | 65 Gordon St | 7 Hamblewood Rise | 2/45 St George’s Rd | 24 Seymour St. #GADGAC

19.01.2022 Past District Governor Adrian encouraged us last year to "break the chains" in Rotary. Well, we took him seriously and we got out the bolt cutters. On 6 July, at our Changeover Dinner, Past President Maree McPherson handed over the Chain of Office to three willing new Presidents! Congratulations to our trio of Presidents for 2020-21. Ian Whitehead for the next 4 months, Ian Round, and David Blythman in succession. We are in for a fantastic year!

11.01.2022 Begin the new Rotary year with these words of wisdom from President Holger Knaack: https://on.rotary.org/3izq3vA

11.01.2022 JULY 2020 - ROTARY DISTRICT 9550 QLD & NT Happy New Rotary Year! A new year is traditionally a time of renewal, a time for a fresh start, and so it is also in the Rotary world. Although it seems our new year celebrations have been somewhat subdued compared with previous years due to the pandemic, I sense that the new leadership teams in clubs across our district are ready to open opportunities with enthusiasm. Congratulations to all our new club presidents and the teams that ...are supporting them I am sure we will have a great year together. Next weekend, we will be holding our slightly delayed District Changeover, when we will acknowledge and thank in person our 2019-20 District Governor, Ron Degenhart and Vicki for their leadership and hard work during the past year, but I would also like to take the opportunity here to congratulate Ron and Vicki on a great year, albeit one that ended quite differently from what had been planned. Read Rons report of his year below. Our Rotary International President, Holger Knaacks theme for 2020-21 is Rotary Opens Opportunities. To facilitate this in our district, I am asking you, in your clubs, to Make M&Ms: Make Membership Memorable Make Meetings Meaningful Make (Hu)Mankind Matter Make Messages Momentous Our District Newsletter is one means by which we will share ideas, resources and information to help you make M & Ms. I invite you to celebrate your clubs successes and achievements by sharing your stories in the newsletter. During 2020-21, celebrations, events and projects will be held across Australia and New Zealand to celebrate the Centenary of Rotary in our two countries. I hope that clubs and groups will plan ways to celebrate this milestone within your own communities: what a great opportunity to celebrate our past and create our future! At the end of the month, Stan and I will hit the road on the first round of our club visits. We are looking forward to meeting everyone and learning of the opportunities you are opening up in 2020-21. Lets Make M&Ms! DG Merewyn

06.01.2022 What are the upsides of restrictions? Going back to Zoom meetings, so we can include our exchange student Sammy - from Denmark! And a member of our Club who is currently far away. So, its not all bad.... Thanks Sammy #rotex2020 #wearerotary #connection

05.01.2022 Great to feature our Give a Damn Give a Can project with a difference on the Rotary International showcase! Thanks Rotary International

05.01.2022 Did you see our editorial and advertisement in Mondays paper? Thanks, Latrobe Valley Express for featuring Give a Damn Give a Can. While COVID 19 means we cant run our annual food collection appeal this year, we are thankful to have been able to carry on in a new format. We refused to accept that we wouldnt have the project. Now, maybe more than ever, we needed to act. So, with Rotarians being people of action, thats what we did. The Latrobe City Trust, a long-term suppor...ter of Give a Damn Give a Can, contributed $4,500 to the project. These funds were matched by Rotary International through a District Grant of The Rotary Foundation. Our Club added the additional funds to make a $10,000 donation to Vinnies. Since 1996, our Club has organised Give a Damn Give a Can. Annually, our appeal calls on schools, sports clubs, aged care facilities, local businesses, community groups, and the public - through our Red Bin collection sites - to donate cans of food to the St Vincent de Paul Society Traralgon, Victoria Food Bank. Through our volunteer service and the help of all our donors, we have collected more than 200,000 cans over the years. In any single year, our target is 10,000 cans. Thank you to all our usual volunteers and can collectors, and to Club members for finding a way to make #GADGAC 2020 happen.

04.01.2022 Celebrate Rotarys Centenary in Australia.

04.01.2022 What a night for it! Tonight, we had a different type of Rotary meeting. We gathered at the Traralgon Railway Reservoir Conservation Reserve . We enjoyed a BBQ dinner at our trailer, a presentation from Gary Deane from the Reserve Committee, and a peaceful evening walk.... No better way to spend a Monday night.

04.01.2022 It was a joy to get back to face to face meetings this week. While we are restricted in numbers and cant all gather at once, we can enjoy celebrations such as inducting new members. We welcome Joanne Campbell to the Rotary Club of Traralgon Central. Great to have you in the Rotary International family Joanne, increasing the diversity of our Club and bringing new skills and talents.... Congratulations!
