24.01.2022 For anyone wanting to take advantage of the hoist available at the Patterson River launching facility

19.01.2022 We don't often get negative but right at the moment we are extremely disappointed with Parks Victoria. After 7 months of lockdown in Victoria people are rightly looking to get into the outdoors and explore our multitude of parks and gardens. It is disappointing to see that the accessibility information that was available for 32 of Parks Victoria's parks has been removed from the new website. Only three parks remain: Dandenong Ranges, Maroondah Reservoir Park and Silvan Reserv...oir Park. Unfortunately most of the information was old having been initially done back in 2011, but given the slow rate of update of park assets most was still very relevant and gave potential visitors the opportunity to make informed decisions prior to a visit to a park. Back in 2012, Parks Victoria were world leaders in Accessibility with the development of the Parks Accessibility Manual, the development of detailed park information and the rollout of the Trailrider in key parks. The project was supposed to create a culture of continuous improvement and updating. With the state in lockdown for 7 months, it would have been the ideal time to update information. It should be remembered that EVERY Victoria ratepayer is charged a minimum of $79.02 annual parks charge so accessibility information isn't some luxury that can be turned on and off on a whim. Parks Victoria needs to get back to the basics of the program that was started back in 2011 and the philosophy behind it and concentrate less on shiny new toys and ministerial announcements. In the meantime, given that the summer holidays are approaching we have started to republish our older reviews to fill the void. http://travability.travel/conte/victorias-parks-and-gardens See more

18.01.2022 Accessible Tourism - A critical part of a stage tourism restart. Since we wrote this article back in October we have seen third and fourth waves of Covid 19, continuation of international border closures and a new reluctance of travellers to make plans far in advance due to a lack of confidence that they will not be affected by disruption. Domestic and local tourism has become the focus of the industry and a key part of that market is Inclusive and Accessible Tourism. It is t...he fastest growing market in tourism and one that until recently has not been getting a lot of focus from both individual businesses and destination managers. There has been some great initiatives in recent months at all levels of the industry and at 20% of the market it is a real opportunity during the recovery phase to boost visitor numbers and gain competitive advantage. http://travability.travel//accessible-tourism--critical-p #tourism #tourismrecovery #tourismindustry #tourismrestart #accessibletourism #accessibletravel See more

17.01.2022 Destinations for All World Summit - Miami Florida 2021. In the light of COVID-19, the Destinations World Summit planned for Miami has been cancelled as an in person event. Global uncertainty and border closures along with concerns for personal safety have cast doubt on the ability to hold the event. Preparations are being undertaken to hold a world online event on Accessible Tourism. The exact dates and format will be announced in due course. http://travability.travel//destinations-all-miami-florida-

01.01.2022 Accessible Tourism A critical part of a staged tourism restart In the recovery phase, most tourism is going to be local or domestic making the accessible tourism market a key opportunity. Travellers with a disability tend to stay longer and spend more than the general traveling population which is a key incentive for tourism operators to actively market their accessibility. http://travability.travel//accessible-tourism--critical-p
