24.01.2022 7 Sept - NEW Video out! This week, our Production Supervisor, Joshua Hall takes us behind the scenes for a GratEX Mini Mesh FRP grating project. The shapes were carved out by our waterjet cutter, which is capable of cutting precise, accurate and customised shapes as required. Our waterjet cutter hasnt met a shape it doesnt like! 23.01.2022 Our client undertook a complete mechanical plant design for a milk plant in New South Wales. As part of the requirements, the tanks needed to have top access to allow for easy installation and removal of large aerator mixers. Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP ladder and ladder cages to provide safety for personnel using this roof access. THE CHALLENGE: Selected material had to accommodate the extreme outdoor weather conditions.... Ladder structure would need to have security features to prevent non-permitted access. OUR SOLUTION: LadderEX is the choice alternative to metallic ladders and cage systems, providing superior corrosion resistance and electrical transparency. 20.01.2022 Designed to be an environmentally sustainable facility, this wastewater plant in Queensland was built to treat wastewater to the highest standards and to provide five times the benefits compared to any other typical wastewater plant in Australia. THE CHALLENGE Panels needed to be load bearing to access equipment located above the covers. Hatches were required to allow access for authorised personnel. ... The covers also needed to be able to support handrails for staff safety. Due to the various structures on site, the selected material needed to be easily cut to size where required. OUR SOLUTION EcoEX SureLine HD covers are manufactured from premium quality resins with reinforced membranes that contain odours. SureLine HD odour control panels can incorporate a range of inspection hatches, full hatches with safety grates, as well as maintenance hatches. These SureLine HD panels are sturdy enough to have handrails installed to provide enhanced safety for the user. FRP can be simply cut on site for any variance on task.

20.01.2022 A multi-storey substation was custom designed to be installed in Melbournes CBD. Working on a tight time frame meant that the substation had to be prefabricated off site while the foundation was being installed. Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP products for the structure and the security perimeter. THE CHALLENGE: It was a key consideration that the product be non-conductive. This was to ensure maximum safety for staff and public. ... Post, rails and barrier mesh needed to be designed to withstand the wind load requirements of AS/NZS 1170.2. The selected product had to be able to form a secure perimeter around the structure, providing a safe barrier against trespassing and various security concerns. OUR SOLUTION: Our SecurEX FRP fencing is suited to a wide range of rail applications, especially in areas where stray electrical currents are concerns. 18.01.2022 Granted UNESCO World Heritage status, Milford Sound in New Zealand is a place of ethereal beauty. In a location that receives the highest rainfall in New Zealand, this South Island fjord has seen a steady increase in visitors over the years. Treadwell was engaged to supply the grating for the gangways for visitors to use to board and disembark from the various ferries and boats. THE CHALLENGE: Being a remote location, any error would take valuable resources to rectify. C...ommunications and material had to be precise to avoid difficulties during construction. As a popular tourist destination, the gangways needed to be able to withstand high foot traffic. Material would have to withstand continuous exposure to a wet environment, as well as weather conditions. 17.01.2022 This old, flood damaged wooden bridge needed to be replaced as it had come to the end of its useful life. The new bridge was designed as a single span frame that goes directly from one side to the other. Treadwell was engaged to be provide the grating for the structure. THE CHALLENGE: ... Decking would be installed on a curved bridge structure and needed to accommodate the slopes. Being in a remote area, the structure would be airlifted by helicopter to be installed. This meant that the material had to be lightweight. A long lifespan and minimal maintenance were key considerations in the material selection. Structure could only be installed during low tide. The ground supporting the structure was waterlogged and soft, making for a challenging foundation. Being submerged in water, corrosion and deterioration were key concerns. The material would be permanently exposed to the corrosive coastal environment as well as drastically varying weather conditions.... 14.01.2022 Located in New South Wales, this train station is famously known for not being accessible via roads. As part of a maintenance and upgrade effort, a signal access platform needed to be installed along the train route. THE CHALLENGE: Being in a rail corridor, the material of the platform had to be non-conductive to ensure the safety of the user. Being exposed to external weather conditions, the material had to have a non-slip surface. ... The structure had to be durable and not require regular maintenance due to its location being remote and not easily accessible. OUR SOLUTION: We implemented an FRP solution comprising of our GratEX square mesh grating, RailEX round handrails, and ArchitEX structural profiles. 05.01.2022 This sewage plant located in Victoria, required additional infrastructure to accommodate the growing population in Melbournes northern suburbs. As a part of this massive project, Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP odour control solution. THE CHALLENGE: Covers needed to be mounted from the top and also needed to be easily removable. ... Covers needed to be high strength, durable and load bearing. Traditional materials would not be able to withstand the constant exposure to the surrounding highly acidic environment. The selected material needed to be resistant to corrosion, to ensure longevity. OUR SOLUTION: The FRP products used in this project were our ArchitEX Structural Profiles, EcoEX SureLine Heavy Duty Panels and Hatches, associated fasteners and support brackets. EcoEX is constructed in way that allows for easy removal of panels whenever access is required. The panels are designed to be anti-slip and customised to meet load requirements. ArchitEX structural beams and EcoEX panels are made from specially formulated resins to withstand corrosion.

Metal handrails were not ideal as they would get to heated. The selected material had to posses low thermal conductivity so that it would be safe to use even in high temperatures. ... A project completed within weeks, we worked with our client, Casello Pty Ltd to supply GratEX Micro Mesh grating for the ambulance ramp. THE CHALLENGE: Ramp had to withstand high weight loading and meet compliance codes. Used for patient transport in various wheelchairs and mobility aids, the ramp had to maintain a seamless surface.... Being installed in a very tight timeline and at the height of the current pandemic, a quick turnaround time was key. OUR SOLUTION: EX-Series GratEX FRP grating is constructed as a large single piece panel, and can be installed as a uniform surface, without large gaps between panels.
