25.01.2022 Echo Point Jetty, Tasmania Located midway between Narcissus and Cynthia Bay at Lake St Clair National Park, visitors have the option of walking one way, and taking a ferry from this jetty back to the visitor centre. In December 2020, a contract to upgrade this jetty was awarded. Treadwell was involved in the design and supplied the FRP decking and structural profiles for this new jetty. THE CHALLENGE:... The decking surface had to be hardy and have anti-slip properties to ensure safety for the user. Longevity and maintenance of the structure were key considerations. Installation was dependent on weather conditions and subject to strict timelines. 25.01.2022 This penguin viewing platform at Lillico Beach, Tasmania was previously made of treated pine, and could only accommodate a maximum of 70 visitors at a time. Which would be a bit of pain if you were visitor number 71. It has since been replaced and includes our GratEX FRP Mini Mesh grating, and TreadWOOD WPC. 19.01.2022 This beach in Byron Bay is Australia’s easternmost beach. It was decided that upgrades needed to be undertaken, which included a new walking surface and viewing areas. Treadwell was engaged to supply the GratEX FRP Mini Mesh grating, and ArchitEX structural profiles for this project. THE CHALLENGE: The products would be permanently exposed to the outdoor coastal environment and had to be corrosion resistant, with a long lifespan. As a public structure, timelines were co...mmitted to, and the selected products had to be quick to supply and install. Safety & maintenance costs were key considerations. Odour control panels had to be trafficable to allow staff access, as well as support the installation for handrails for staff safety. An important recreation, sporting and cultural hub for Lake Macquarie and the region, this new jetty will provide safe access for the boating community in the years to come. Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP structural profiles as well as the grating for this upgrade. THE CHALLENGE:... Structure would be subject to tidal conditions and wave loading. Structure had to remain robust and withstand exposure to various weather conditions. Maintenance had to be kept to a minimum as it was in a high public traffic area. The selected materials had to be low maintenance and long lasting, to suit pre-approved budgeting as well as have a long lifespan. The baffle walls had to compliant to AS4030.
