24.01.2022 On Thursday 6th June Lorenzo’s Dad and the fire fighters from Christie Downs Fire Service made a very special visit to our centre. The firefighters spoke to the children about what to do in an emergency Stop, Drop & Roll and showed the children the clothing they wear when attending rescues. The children were very excited when the time came to explore the fire truck. The children were able to sit in the back of the truck, listen to the sirens go off as well as watch the special ladder extend. Treasured Tots Christie Downs would like to thank the Christie Downs Fire Service for taking time out of their busy day to visit us.

07.01.2022 Treasure Tots Christie Downs August/September highlights National Tree Day and Educators day Last month we celebrated national tree day (02/08/2020) and we welcomed Cris, one of our grasshopper children’s Nona into the center to help us plant some small shrubs, herbs and flowers in celebration of national tree day. The children enjoyed digging, adding compost and turning the soil in the garden beds whilst discussing where might be the very best spot to plant each plant. Wh...ilst digging in the one garden bed, the children dug up some potatoes. The potatoes were from last season’s planting, and, when the children harvested them, a few must have been overlooked. There was great laughter and giggles at finding such treasure, and the race was on to see who could find any more potatoes hiding in the garden bed. After planting each child had opportunity to water the thirsty plants, and, remembering to water them thereafter on a regular basis. That afternoon, the children also enjoyed scrubbing the potatoes they had harvested as a practical life activity. This month, on the 2nd September, we celebrated Educators day. Treasured Tots Christie Downs would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our wonderful educator team, and thank them sincerely for their hard work, passion, commitment, and the extra mile they all go. We celebrated the day with pizza, snacks and cake, and each educator received a small thank you bag of goodies in recognition of their support and hard work. We are so very blessed to have such an amazing dedicated team. Thank you. See more

06.01.2022 Throughout June the Starfish Classroom have been engaging in sensorial learning. In small groups, the children explored concepts of colour, weight, texture, scent and taste. Every week the Starfish Classroom is invited to contribute to a cooking experience. This gives the children opportunity to develop food preparation skills. Practical Life activities support children in developing the essential skills for day-to-day experiences.
