16.01.2022 King Walkers Revisit Tambo Bluff Great to see the King Walkers U3A Bairnsdale visiting Tambo Bluff again. Due to Covid 19 restrictions it meant splitting their numbers into two groups for walking purposes. From all reports they loved the walks and were very impressed with all the work that has been done. The University of the Third Age enriches retirement years by keeping mentally and physically alert. It is a time to learn new skills in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.... https://www.u3aonline.org.au/ See more

09.01.2022 Clean-Up Completed The trees the wild wind brought down on the Wallaby Creek Walking Track last week have been removed. The Pelican St steps location proved the most difficult, with the branches having to be winched up the hill to be chipped. Thank you to the Shire arborist for his prompt attention and organising a professional team to carry out the work. It was inevitable that some recent Landcare plantings would be damaged beyond repair and will have to be replaced. A reminder to the community that IT IS ILLEGAL TO REMOVE STANDING OR FALLEN NATIVE VEGETATION FROM CROWN LAND. Written permission must be sought from the land manager.

06.01.2022 Our sign on the main road onto Tambo Bluff reminds everyone of the importance of wildlife.

05.01.2022 Pemar Path Patience We would like to thank 15 Trees (15trees.com.au) and G.J. Gardner for the opportunity to increase our environmental footprint on Tambo Bluff. The Pemar Path project saw the planting of hundreds of indigenous species over a few months. Prior to this, invasive weeds (especially kikuyu) had to be removed. Covid 19 restrictions slowed us down, but Saturday saw a very determined team back in action to finish the job. Sadly the rain forecast the previous day didn’t eventuate, making digging very arduous. Thank goodness for our water trailer. (The last two photos look similar, spot the difference.)

04.01.2022 Wattle Day The sight of flowering wattle, what a wonderful way to welcome in the Spring. The first celebration of Wattle Day was held on the 1st of September 1910 in NSW, Victoria and South Australia. Wattle seeds from Australia will soon be heading from Japan to the International Space Station. After reaching their destination, they will be returned to South Australia where they will be distributed to schools for planting. For further information on our iconic acacias, and its traditional uses by the First Nations peoples google www.wattleday.asn.au
