20.01.2022 Dr Rob is on the floor because the cat has taken the chair. Who's the boss again?

19.01.2022 THE START OR END OF ANOTHER 100HOUR WEEK? It feels like Friday but it’s the start of the week. Super nurse Ana and Dr Rob have been working round the clock again this weekend giving executive relief to animals in need. Rajah loves after hours because he gets to stay out of his cage and cause mischief. We work this hard because we care. We are available when your pet needs a vet. Treendale Pet Medical because your best friend is our world

19.01.2022 Spring is hardly here and we've received reports of a few active cases of Parvovirus. Parvo is a resilient virus that can survive in the environment for more than an year. Treating parvo is very difficult and expensive. There's no cure for it, only supportive treatment, which means it is often fatal. However, parvo is very easy to prevent: vaccine! Make sure you adult dog is vaccinated once a year and don't let your pup outside of your home until at least 10-14 days have pas...sed from the 3rd puppy vaccine. Symptoms to look out for are : - Nausea and vomiting, particularly if bloody - Diarrhoea, often severe and bloody - Lethargy, weakness, depression - Abdominal pain and bloating - No appetite or reduced interest in food - Fever or low body temperature - Dehydration If you see symptoms or if you're unsure if your dog is covered, don't take any chances: give us a call on 9796 1388and we'll help you figure it out.

18.01.2022 TONIGHT ON LATE NIGHT LEGENDS Super nurse Leticia is helping Dr Rob with Henry who has immune mediated haemolytic anaemia and poor little Odin who has pancreatitis. These are both very serious medical conditions but both patients feeling a little better already. Say a prayer for these much loved local pets. Open longer than anyone else. Your best friend is our world

17.01.2022 BEAU BEAUS’s BEAUTIFUL SURGERY At Treendale Pet Medical we have the very best facilities, equipment and experience to do a great job for your pet. Beau Beau had a grade one cruciate ligament tear that was causing mild intermittent lameness. Because we have a very high quality digital X-ray machine we were able to diagnose the very subtle joint changes that would have been missed on an inferior machine. Beau Beau was admitted for surgery. The best time for cruciate surgery is ...before a complete rupture. If the cranial cruciate has a complete rupture the joint is very unstable often leading to meniscal tears which are a disaster for the joint and lead to severe OA even with surgery. Beau Beau went onto a Fentanyl Continuous rate infusion intra operatively to reduce pain during and after surgery. Beau Beau was on a heated surgical table to keep her warm and toasty under GA to prevent hypothermia which is a potentially life threatening problem with lengthy general anaesthesia. Beau Beau is being safely monitored with our state of the art surgical anaesthetic monitoring equipment that measure blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels, CO2 levels and has an ECG for ultimate pet safety. We have very high standards for aseptic surgical technique to reduce infections and we have a purpose built orthopaedic theatre. Beau Beau had PRP therapy to help repair joint damage from the injury and a total knee reconstruction. Check out the post op photo. Despite major surgery, you can hardly tell where the surgery has been. Beau Beau also had post op laser to reduce pain and inflammation and halve healing time. We’ve got it all and we do it all ...... and we do it to University level standards. See more

17.01.2022 PSA: We share a lot of pups sleeping gracefully... but we don't want to push impossible beauty standards, so every now and then we have someone sleeping like this. All sleeping pups are valid

16.01.2022 Ludo stole some of his hoomans' lollies... which were coated in dark chocolate! When dogs swallow something they shouldn't, it's important to act fast as every minute counts. With chocolate (and other scary things like snail and rat bait) we induce vomiting so the toxins, or at least most of it, is removed from the body before being absorbed. After vomiting, we immediately give antinausea medication so our beautiful brave patients can go back to feeling great. Ludo's mum acted fast and because of that no other treatment was required!

16.01.2022 WHAT’S YOUR DIAGNOSIS? What would you do?

15.01.2022 TONIGHT ON LATE NIGHT LEGENDS Tilly has been saved from poisoning Tilly had her stomach pumped and activated charcoal administered then she was on a propofol CRI to control her seizuring and here she is at 10:00pm. Doing great. Our super nurses were awesome. Raj wasn’t much help.

15.01.2022 We got a very special handmade present with a lovely card... Dr Rob as very happy about how he was described in the card! We have the best clients and they have the best pets

15.01.2022 Telemedicine is a great alternative to those who find the drive to see us challenging, or don't want to get out of their PJs, or have any other reason that requires them to stay home. Telemedicine are virtual consults, where you email us photos and videos of what is worrying you and we have our vets chat with you over the phone about it! If that sounds like just what you need, give us a call on 9796 1388!

15.01.2022 STORMY’s LEG IS SAVED Stormy had a terrible injury to his left forelimb. He somehow fractured his radius and ulna and dislocated his elbow. This is a terrible injury and would sometimes end with amputation. STORMY’s loving family wanted to save his leg. It’s impossible to repair a dislocated elbow until the fractures of the radius and ulna are repaired. It is quite a challenging surgery on these tiny bones so close to the elbow. Dr Rob plated the fractures and then fixed the elbow. Stormy can now walk on his leg and is doing great. We are all just so happy

15.01.2022 TONIGHT ON LATE NIGHT LEGENDS Super nurse Ana was the lucky nurse to work late into the night helping Lily. Lily had some congenital defects with her ureter and kidney that finally caught up with her. She’s had a kidney and tortuous blocked ureter removed in a marathon surgery tonight. She is doing well thanks to the superpowers of our super nurse and our excellent surgical monitoring equipment. Lily had an ECG, blood pressure monitor, capnography and pulse oximeter for her marathon 6 hour surgery. Super nurse Ana was onto her 3rd anaesthetic monitoring page.

15.01.2022 Rajah has been caught on camera. He seems to have a sixth sense of when a camera has been pointed at him and he immediately stops being naughty and flashes his big innocent eyes or sometimes gives us the not so surreptitious stink eye. He just knows when to stop being naughty....but not today. He has been deceived. You will see him approach the concealed camera and sniff it. His suspicious mind suspected something was up but after a close inspection, he lowered his guard and instead turned to raise hell by mercilously attacking our veterinary nurses. For giggles......we debut...... "Candid Cat Cam"

14.01.2022 HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A CAT DOING A RAP DANCE? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J89kYzVof28

13.01.2022 Rajah heard that we had the amazing behaviour vet Dr Cathy with us today, and that she helps owners of pets with anxiety and behaviour problems. Well, well, well It just so happens that Rajah has some very problematic pets (naughty nurses) that do not understand the importance supplying a 2nd (and 3rd) breakfast! Rajah had a long consult with Dr Cathy. Dr Cathy is very gentle and focused only on science-based methods, which rely on kindness and empathy to help pets flourish ...into their best selves. Unfortunately, Rajah is unwilling to stop using ankle biting as a training method, so they have a long road ahead of them If you need help with behaviour issues, or have a brand new pet you want to start on the right paw with, give us a call and we can book you a time to see Dr Cathy from Positive Elements Behaviour Vet right here in Treendale, instead of having to drive aaaall the way to Perth

12.01.2022 Our fabulous laser machine works hard every day :) Laser helps to reduce inflammation and pain, and speeds up healing (which is super helpful for bouncy pups!). Here's some laser being applied right after a spey

12.01.2022 Rajah supervising quality control. Super nurse Ana is obviously doing an outstanding job as her ankles are not being attacked in protest. Raj seems happy with her work.

11.01.2022 HELP NEEDED: This beautiful baby has gone for a walk in the rain and lost their way. Found near Fee's field on Cathedral Avenue. Please help us get this fur baby home.

09.01.2022 Edit: Thank you everyone! I am home now! Are you my mummy? I am a super friendly little boy who is a little bit lost. Luckily for me I have found my way to a lovely home for the moment.... 09.01.2022 WARNING BLOW FISH- With this warm weather it brings more visits to the beach. Please keep a close eye on your furry family member while at the beach too. Quite often the smell of a rotting fish, such as a 'Blow fish' can be just to much for our fur babies to pass up. Not only can ingesting these revolting 'delicacies' upset their stomachs, but they also contain a deadly toxin.... What to do if your dog eats a blow fish- 1. Contact your Vet straight away 2. Please try and keep all vomit to show the Vet so they have an idea of how much fish is still in your dog's stomach. We are seeing more and more cases of 'Blow fish' ingestion and this can be deadly. Please be careful out there as you enjoy your summer :)

09.01.2022 Is your pet's scratching or recurring ear troubles making you lose sleep? Well, now you don't have to go to Perth to see a specialist for it... they come to you, right here at Treendale Pet Medical! Book an appointment now!

09.01.2022 LATE NIGHT LEGENDS Dr Rob and super nurse Ana working into the wee hours yet again. Your best friend is our world

09.01.2022 Hmmm... we think the boys may have outgrown this basket! They were all super brave for their first vaccines... and took a long nap on the freshly disinfected floor after filling up their tummies with treats :) Our gentle animal handling, lots of yummy treats and phromone filled room ensured these puppies, who are not even 2 months old, had a positive experience at the vet! Having our patients feel comfortable, heard and welcomed is a priority and a point of pride for us at Treendale Pet Medical.
