25.01.2022 The struggle is real. I'm using a tape runner and all my card is ending up with white fluff on the edges. He's also so happy he's drooling. Ergh, yuk

24.01.2022 Tomorrow mornings class may be weather dependent, we'll see how it looks tomorrow morning. Classes this week... MONDAY 1st June 2020 Cardmaking 10:30 - 12:30... The girls will be making a couple of simple cards. The first is a 'blackboard card' which is very unisex. The second card was originally made by Fran (thanks Fran for the kit!) and I have pre-cut all the flower pieces for you. I have used a different colour from what's in the photo which isn't quite as vibrant, I hope you like it. TUESDAY 2nd June 2020 Cardmaking 1:30 - 3:30 You will be making the same cards!! Please let me know if you can make it (if you haven't already done so) so I can ensure I have enough kits.

23.01.2022 Wow, I can't believe I'm saying this but it looks like we will be able to get a few classes in before Christmas! Touch wood. As far as I can tell from midnight Sunday 22nd November we will go into 'Covid normal' which means we can have up to 10 people at our homes. I can't find any other info so I'm presuming they can be from multiple house holds. I will send out another newsletter next week but classes will resume from MONDAY 23rd NOVEMBER unless you hear otherwise. In that ...week there will be Monday Cardmaking, Tuesday Art Journaling (night) and then on the Friday there will be Art Journalling. Yayyyyyyyyyyyy I am SO EXCITED as I have so many new things to play with and teach. Woo hoo!!! For the ladies doing Cardmaking let me know what you would like to do (Only Christmas, no Christmas or 1 General card and 1 Christmas card). To all the ladies that managed to get to one of the 10 year Anniversary Lunches thankyou for making them so much fun and it was wonderful to catch up with people who I felt I hadn't seen in a couple of years. Thankyou for the gifts (I didn't expect anything) and I've decided that next year we will have some organized lunches so we can meet socially and chat (it also gives me a chance to join in) because life is too short and we need to enjoy every opportunity for catching up and sharing some fun times. I have been experimenting with some backgrounds for use in Journaling and Cardmaking and they are tons of fun! The ones pictured are in my journal and you can draw, paint or stick images over the top and create a page, or they can be used on the front of a card or as die cuts. So.Much.Fun. See more

23.01.2022 Richard from BADRA (Balook & District Residents Association) came over today to check out Tricia's Haven and to present us with the cheque from the FRRR ( Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal). Some of the money was intended for a Gemini electric cutting & embossing machine which arrived just over a week ago. I had the opportunity to use it to cut out the flowers for class today. What a brilliant time saving (and shoulder saving!) machine it is!!! Worth it's weight in gold!!! The FRRR has been very supportive of the classes over the last 7 years and the money they donate has helped fund participant costs and purchase tools and equipment (not to mention coffee beans!!!) that would be very difficult for me to afford otherwise. We are very grateful to them for their continued support.

22.01.2022 The ladies who come to class will get this. So, it looks like we were correct the whole time with our terminology for this particular tool!

22.01.2022 I hope everyone is staying safe and not too bored in lockdown. I have been travelling the world in a slightly different way, I'll share the pics over the next couple of days. I finally managed to design some card kits for a zoom class so here are the details: *Please note the second photo shows the inside of the cards.* These kits are $20 and contain everything to make these 3 cards including all die cuts, embellishments, stamped images and envelopes. It is an extra $2 for ...postage. Non contact pickup is available from my place. You can make these at your leisure and not join the zoom session. They are very straightforward, you can just use the photos. All you need is: scissors, glue, double sided tape and puffy tape. If you are interested please let me know by Wednesday night (24th) so I can start making the kits and getting them out in the mail so if people want to join the zoom session to make them they can. I can forward my account details for payment through Messenger. I'm looking forward to enjoying a get together and some creating very soon!!! See more

20.01.2022 After having a chat to Alan I've decided that it is in everyone's best interests if we again put classes on hold for a few weeks until the cases in Victoria settle down. I'm incredibly disappointed that it's come to this but I am kind of hoping that Dan Andrew's will look in to quarantining certain parts of the Metro area that seems to be spiking covid cases and causing the rest of the state to not be able to move ahead. Unless we hear otherwise it looks like they will revise everything around the 12th July so I'm hoping for a significant drop in cases by then. Everyone please stay safe and healthy. xx

19.01.2022 Hmmmm things aren't looking really flash virus wise - 428 cases today. I was hanging off making any class plans hoping we would see some improvement by now, seeing it's been a couple of weeks since they implemented the Melbourne lockdowns. If numbers don't drop significantly over this weekend then I'm going to hold off re-starting classes, however if they do and by Sunday afternoon we can tell there is a significant downturn then I will make a further decision then. Day by da...y at the moment. I'm planning on placing an order with Jane Davenport as I am nearly finished my large journal (no surprises there!). I am currently using her small journal and I love it because it has the most beautiful, thick watercolour paper which will take watercolours, acrylics, pencils and inks. Just be aware that her large journal is exactly that - large!! If you would like to order a journal, or anything else from her website let me know because there will more than likely be free shipping as my order is quite large. Her art supplies are superb and I am getting quite a collection of them!! Let me know over the weekend if you would like to add something to the order as I will be placing it early next week. https://janedavenport.com/

19.01.2022 The girls aren't the only ones happy that class is back on!!!

15.01.2022 ***Sigh *** Well here we go again, back to Level 3 restrictions from midnight so needless to say classes have been postponed for 6 weeks at least. I'm really really really hoping we can get on top of this virus and experience some normality soon. Let me know if you would like to do some Cardmaking via Zoom. I can make up some cards and kits and mail them out (or locals can have non contact pick up). Wishing everyone the very best for the next 6 weeks, may you all stay healthy and sane. xx

14.01.2022 I'm not sure if everyone caught the article in the LV Express that came out a few weeks ago.

13.01.2022 Just updating the journal page photo's.

13.01.2022 Gelli printing some papers, and my hands at the same time.

12.01.2022 Class update. As of Monday 1st June all classes will recommence. Next week, depending on numbers, there will be Monday morning Cardmaking and Tuesday afternoon Cardmaking session and then the following week (12th) will be the start date for Art Journaling. I will send out the normal newsletter on Sunday with photo's of the cards that will be made at next weeks classes. Handsanitiser will be available in the studio but I ask that if anyone has even a hint that they may be comi...ng down with something please stay home. This is incredibly important as there are a number of immune compromised ladies that come to classes. I will immediately cancel classes if myself or any member of my family is unwell. If there is anyone who is concerned about returning because they wish to continue self isolating then I completely understand. Please don't feel obligated to come. The FRRR has sent some signage which they would like photographed and Richard Florey from BADRA will come to one of the sessions so he can hand over the Grant cheque from the FRRR, and we can have a few photo's taken. Depending on numbers this may be in the first or second week back. If the Art Journal girls aren't already doing so can you please start collecting photo's from magazines that catch your eye. We will be using these in our journal pages so if you have a few to choose from that would be great. See you all soon (hopefully!).

11.01.2022 Okayeeee so I have organized all the sessions so that we have minimal numbers, if you see a spot where there is only 3 people attending and you would like to come please let me know. Numbers and people attending will be a bit fluid, I will make every attempt to fit you in to another session if you are unable to come to one that you are booked in to. Please let me know if you are unable to make a class as soon as possible so that I can look at putting someone else in to that s...pot. Here's a rundown on how things will work and the changes: 1. All classes will have a maximum of 4 attendees. 2. Surfaces will be wiped after EVERY session. For those coming to the second session on a Tuesday you may need to wait on the verandah until I have finished cleaning. It shouldnt take long. 3. Class participants to bring disinfectant wipes to clean communal tools. 4. BYO your own mug. 5. Please maintain distance as much as humanly possible. 6. You are welcome to wear a mask. 7. I will take your temperature before you come in with an infrared forehead thermometer. ***If in the unfortunate event that cases look like they are increasing in the Valley then I will have to cancel classes or, if we go in to further lockdowns the same applies. I really hope this doesn't happen, but the way things are we just dont know. I will post in Messenger, Facebook, email and text if this is the case.*** Classes this week..... I'm not sure which cards Monday and Tuesday ladies will be doing yet as my main concern was just to get this newsletter out. I'll post some photo's after I've worked it out. MONDAY 27th July Cardmaking 10:30 - 12:30 Attendees: Libby Tineka Gaynor Jean TUESDAY 28th July Cardmaking 1:00 - 2:30 Brenda Ruth Sylvia Jan 2:30 - 4:00 Kathy Margaret Sue TUESDAY Art Journaling 7:15 - 9:30 Di Jess Elise Michelle FRIDAY 31st July Art Journaling 10:30 - 1:00 Barb Jenni Merrilyn I've put those people who come to both Cardmaking and Art Journaling in on alternate weeks so they aren't coming here twice in the one week. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. Stay safe xx

10.01.2022 I'll send this newsletter out however I think classes later in the week will be directly impacted by the statement that Dan Andrews will make sometime today. Cardmaking Monday 3rd August, 10:30 - 12:30 The girls will be making the motorbike card and the sympathy card.... Art Journaling Tuesday 4th August, 7:15 - 9:30 I'm not sure what we'll be doing yet however I know you will love it! Attendees: Di Michelle Elise Jess Art Journaling Friday 7th August, 10:30 - 12:30 Girls you will be making this fun rainforest type page!! Attendees: Kathy Margaret Brenda

07.01.2022 Hi Everyone *waves vigorously* I hope everyone is well and doing what arty stuff they can. Just an update and to let you know that I haven't forgotten you all, I have been doing some planning and organising 'behind the scenes' so to speak. As you are probably aware by now, (unless you've been holidaying on another planet and have just arrived back!) that virus that shall not be named has risen it's ugly head again and it has set Melbourne in it's sights. I am holding off re...starting classes until I am confident that the positive cases will start to drop of significantly. However when classes do resume I have made some quite significant changes. This is what will be happening....... 1. A total of 4 people per class. That will mean perhaps a splitting of a Cardmaking class so that 4 people start at 9:30-11:00 and the next 4 ladies start from 11-12:30 (or 1:00-2:30 and 2:30-4:00). Art Journaling will be run every Friday and on a Tuesday night so that we can spread the numbers over those times. Only local ladies will be coming to the night class for safety reasons. 2. The pen/glue/puffy tape holders in the middle of the tables will be removed and everyone needs to make sure they bring with all basic supplies. 3. Everyone needs to bring disinfectant wipes and clean any shared tools after they have used them. 4. BYO own mug for coffee and tea. 5. If you wish to wear a mask please do so. 6. I will wipe down all tables and surfaces after every class. 7. I am trying to get hold of a forehead thermometer as an added layer of security as well. If you have any other suggestions let me know and of course if you would prefer not to come but to self isolate then that is perfectly understandable. I will be watching the cases over the next few days to determine when and if is the safest time to start back and I'll send out an update later this week. Stay safe everyone. xx

07.01.2022 I've been enjoying an online class with Tracy Scott, a UK based artist who was meant to be here in Australia next week teaching classes in Berwick. Unfortunately for obvious reasons they have been postponed but Tracy has offered a few classes online, including her 'lacework' journal page which is what I will be finishing with her tonight. If I'm a bit bleary eyed tomorrow it's because the class has run a bit late!!! Classes this week.......... MONDAY 8th June... Cardmaking 10:30 -12:30pm The girls will be making a tri-fold card using lots of die cuts in gorgeous yellows and blues. Change your sentiment to suit. The other card they will be making is inspired by my ocean journal page which I thought would come up lovely as a card. There are lots of steps involved but I will walk you through all of them and trust me, there is tons of room for error!!! The watercolours on the watercolour paper come up beautifully. FRIDAY 12th June Art Journalling 10:30 - 1:00pm Yayyyy!!! Finally back to enjoying some playing in our journals. This feels like it's been a long time coming that's for sure. There was interest in doing the native flora page but if anyone has any other pages they'd like to do let me know. I'll go with the flow. See you soon!

05.01.2022 I shared a lovely 10 year anniversary celebration lunch (the first of many!) with Mondays Craft girls today. I was incredibly touched when they presented me with these lovely flowers, a card and a voucher. It was very unexpected and I know that I have enjoyed the last 10 years as much as, if not more than them. To see all the new friendships, the excitement when someone makes something they never believed they could, to laugh at the silliest things, to cry when someone is doing it tough and to listen when someone just needs to talk. I am truly blessed to have met so many diverse and beautiful people and to share my joy at sharing my creative journey with you all. Thankyou.

03.01.2022 Classes this week......... Cardmaking MONDAY 15th June, 10:30 - 12:30 With the bicycle card you get to choose what colour you would like to go with the cream flowers. ... I can't take credit for the watering can card, one of the lovely Kaszazz ladies designed it. A lovely simple card that is stamped and hand coloured. There are a few spots available should anyone extra wish to come. Cardmaking TUESDAY 16th June, 1:30 - 3:30 You are going to experience some Art Journaling! Paint your way to this lovely ocean card. This is the only card you will be doing as there is a bit of work involved with creating it. Also, if you have some plastic lids from spray bottles or the like can you bring them with as it means that everyone can make this card at the same time. I only have enough lids for 4 people. You need 3 lids and the diameters need to be approx. 5.2cm, 3.7cm and 3.4cm. You can take the lids back home with you. Let me know if you are able to make it to today's session.

03.01.2022 Classes this week. As promised here are the photo's of what everyone is going to be doing this week. Monday Cardmaking A Stampin' Up World globe card I adapted with a different stamp and papers and the typewriter card.... Tuesday Cardmaking (both groups) The seahorse watercolour card which was designed from a journal page I made. Tuesday night Art Journaling The page made with Aussie botanical serviettes. Friday Art Journaling Let me know girls if there is a particular page you would like to do. If you go to the photo's section of Tricia's Haven most of my journal pages should be there. There are only 3 people booked to come this coming Friday so if anyone else would like to come let me know.

03.01.2022 Hi Everyone!! I hope you are all keeping well in self isolation and not going too stark raving crazy. I thought it was about time for an update so here goes...... The Government recently changed some rules so that you can now have up to five visitors to your home. Whilst the idea of starting up classes again is VERY appealing obviously it's not possible to do that at the moment unless everyone wants to craft outside on the lawn, in the frigid weather. Another reason I am no...t going to rush back in to classes is that I would personally like to see how many new community outbreaks we get as society is slowly opened up. I'm sure you guys can understand that need to tread carefully. I'm hoping that we will soon be able to have up to ten people come to our homes and that will be when I seriously consider starting up classes again. The good news is that as the Grant has been approved I have been able to purchase some much needed supplies and tools. 1. An electric Gemini die cutting and embossing machine, which will save our poor arms from the manual cranking! 2. LOTS of new Jo Sonya paints with a much wider selection of colours. These paints are gorgeous! Very smooth and give a beautiful matte finish. 3. A great selection of Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink Sprays for quick and easy Art Journal and Cardmaking backgrounds. 4. More dies, stamps and stencils for your crafting pleasure. 5. Two sets of Micador Aqua painter pens for class use. I have also made up a paint chart so you can see at a glance what colours are available and I have also catalogued all the die cuts and ephemera so that they are very easy to find and use in Art Journaling. As you have probably noticed I have been doing some Art Journaling and now have heaps of pages that we can do in class! And no, I'm not going to run out of ideas anytime soon!!! Keep safe and keep well and hopefully I'll catch you in the not too distant future. xx
