21.01.2022 Congratulations to Lisa Ward on yet another great result; this time at The Julia Creek Dirt & Dust Tri held on the weekend. 8th Female & 2nd in age was well deserved. Hoping you didn't swallow too many flies on the course Lisa!!

21.01.2022 Last weekend saw Shelley Peden & coach Leigh Whitney head to Busselton for Ironman 70.3 .....for the 3rd time organisers were forced to cancel the swim leg, this time due to high winds. The ensuing duathlon format became a race of attrition as many athletes either did not start or were forced to pull out due to the extreme conditions. Both Leigh & Shelley were well rewarded for overcoming the conditions, with Shelley gaining her first sub 2hr half marathon off the bike(1:56) & 24th in age; & Leigh getting 12th in age after another solid ride. Both athletes also picked up 70.3 World Championship slots which will see them race in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in Sept this year! Congrats to you both.

21.01.2022 Well done to everyone who raced the Mooloolaba triathlon on the weekend. 3000+ athletes over two days sure makes for a very special race. Great results for the 3 Trident athletes who raced. Lisa, Shelley & Leigh all had great races with Lisa picking up a 10min PB on last year. Kudos also to Luke Raffles who swims with us - a 4min PB in his swim was well deserved.

17.01.2022 In the lead up to Anzac day today, several Trident athletes raced the Yungaburra tri on Sunday...."The Yungaburra Triathlon is proud to support the Soldier On organisation..... Soldier On support Australian service men and women who have been wounded, physically or psychologically in contemporary conflict..." Five of us made the trip with all coming away happy with our results....A first Olympic Distance for Melanie Gordon, and Sandra McLachlan completing the swim/bike in a team. Gavin McLachlan completed a tough race despite an injury plagued lead-up. Shelley Peden continued to go from strength to strength, winning her age group & placing 5th overall female in the sprint race. Leigh Whitney managed the overall win in the sprint race. Well done teamies!! #tridentsmsc #yungaburratriathlon

14.01.2022 What a great start to the season all the Trident athletes have had. Five athletes lined up for the first local race at Yorkeys Knob on 17th Feb - Shelley Peden showed that she will again dominate her age group locally this year by winning it comfortably. Lisa Ward had another solid race coming in 3rd in age. A race PB for Melanie Gordon & Kerrod Agnew did a great job in his first race in 5 years. Lisa then headed to Taupo on 2nd March for the 70.3. Despite no race specific pr...ep, Lisa still managed a 9th in age in windy conditions. Finally, last weekend saw the squad pocket rocket, Cath Haug line up at Mooloolaba and set a standard distance PB of 2:52...placing her 8th in her age group. We have a couple of athletes lining up for thier first ever triathlon in the coming weeks so are very excited to see them in action. Stay safe & train hard. See more

12.01.2022 A busy couple of weeks of racing for four of our Trident athletes with Chris Haug, Cath Haug & Lisa Ward racing at Yorkeys Knob & Allirra Ludwig competing in her local Super Sprint in Darwin. All four are currently building to race interstate in November. Lisa Ward 30-39 1st - 1:23:05 Chris Haug 50-59 5th - 1:28:02 Cath Haug 50-59 5th - 1:29:45... Allirra Ludwig - 59:06 Great effort everyone!

12.01.2022 Lake Eacham Triathlon Recap 20/5 Last weekend saw the final local hit out for athletes prior to Cairns 70.3/Ironman in 3 weeks time. Four Trident athletes made the trip up the hill to hone their transition & race skills, as well as give their legs a taste of racing tired, after a hard couple of days training prior. While no PB’s were achieved, it was mission accomplished with everyone finishing & getting a taster of what’s to come in 3 weeks. Well done to Cath Haug , Lisa W...ard , Chris Haug & Melanie Gordon for recognising the value of racing as a training tool. With taper about to start after this weekend, everyone is starting to feel the nerves creep in as we kick off final prep for the biggest race on the FNQ triathlon calendar. We have 6 athletes racing 70.3(3 for the first time & 1 in a team) and 1 athlete doing her 3rd full Ironman. We wish them & everyone racing this year, the very best.....The hard work is behind you, so now enjoy the fruits of it. Thanks to Capturing Cairns for the great photo. See more

10.01.2022 Some great results at the final local race at Lake Tinaroo last weekend. A hot a hilly course made things very honest. Short Course (1.2k/43k/8k) Shelley Peden 1st in age group & 3rd overall woman Lisa Ward 2nd in age group Coach Leigh Whitney 1st in age group & 2nd overall male... Long Course (1.8k/73k/16k) John Thompson was having a great day out until the tail end of his recent flu caught up with him & he made the smart decision to withdraw & not risk any health issues- a very tough decision to have to make so to be commended John. Great effort everyone

07.01.2022 What an awesome day for the first local hit-out of 2018 with cairns turning on its usual warmth for the Yorkeys Knob Duathlon. Congrats to all that competed, but special shouts to the 4 Trident athletes that lined up. All four did an amazing job, pushing themselves to their limit. 2x first in age group, a third in age, a 5th, & smiles all round. Well done Lisa, Jessica, Cath, Chris!!

07.01.2022 Another weekend & more racing for our squad. This time Melanie & Kali Gordon tackled the local Tinaroo tri while John(Sahardi) Garling strapped in for his local tri in Katherine NT. It was John & Kali's second only tri, while Mel lined up for her first ever tri and picked up a 3rd in her age group. Great to see new faces to the sport so keen to get out there and race, well done to all of you.

05.01.2022 / . Finally the weekend that local athletes train for, has come & gone. Cairns actually turned on its beautiful winter weather, which made the day even more memorable for athletes & spectators alike. Four amazing race results from four exceptional Trident athletes left them(and this coach) all with a huge sense of pride. Lisa Ward (-) - - :: An incredible result and just rewards for Lisa, who followed her plan and left no stone unturned to ...achieve her goals. The end result....almost exactly on goal time & a 2hr+ PB!! Having not raced IM for two years, we are very excited to see what some regular racing & longer training blocks will bring for Lisa. Shelley Peden (-) - . - :: - Another amazing result for Shelley who continues to go from strength to strength. 31min quicker than last year & 10th in age, after only 18months in the sport. Cant wait to see what she can produce at Sth Africa 70.3 world champs in September. Melanie Gordon (-) - . - :: Mel only came to us in Feb with no racing & minimal training behind her. She showed the drive & determination that we look for and slotted into her shortened plan, easily ticking off her training & racing requirements along the way. A huge learning curve for Mel but she didn't shy away at any stage, and finished only her 3rd triathlon ahead of her goal time. John Garling (-) - . - :: Sahardi (John) comes from Katherine where there are limited facilities, very few other athletes to train with, and scorching heat during summer. As with the other 3 that raced, he executed his training plan & learnt as much as possible in the time he had. What an exceptional effort in only his second individual triathlon, to finish, which was his main goal- and with a huge smile to boot. Shouts also to Cath Haug, Chris Haug & Allirra Ludwig who had to withdraw due to injury/sickness. Your turn will come soon enough guys.

05.01.2022 Big congrats to our very own Cath Haug who competed in the Noosa Triathlon last weekend. Cath posted an 8 minute PB(2:58) on her effort from last year after putting in some stellar training over the last few months. Although racing in the mates wave so she could race with her family, had Cath raced age group, she would have placed 10th overall, an awesome achievement. Tough as nails award goes to hubby Chris who was unsure if he would even get to the start line a month ago...Chris finished in 3:08! Well done Haugies!

04.01.2022 What an great weekend at Western Sydney 70.3 last weekend with 3 of our athletes putting up some amazing performances and making for one very proud coach. Shelley Peden wiped another 19min from her 70.3 PB time coming in with a 5:20:00 and placing 6th in her age group. Lisa Ward, off the back of winning club champion for her age group the week before, dropped 12min from her PB and placed 10th in her age group with a time of 5:33:06... Allirra Ludwig stepped outside her usual marathon comfort zone & strapped in for the swim & bike leg in a team. Her time of 4:14:46 for the two legs bodes well for her when she decides to add in her favourite discipline and compete individually. Well done ladies!

04.01.2022 The announcement came yesterday of the preliminary 2018 Australian Age Group Team for Standard Distance. Trident Team Members are pleased to share that one of t...heir very own has been selected to compete at the ITU World Age Group Championship on the Gold Coast. BIG Congrats to Coach Leigh Whitney on your selection. Best of luck! #tridentsmsc
