21.01.2022 Jobkeeper. Yes - it has been extended but are you aware there are some significant changes made to this allowance? Let's break it down:... Jobkeeper has been extended by 6 months to 28 March 2021. Eligibility differences are that the employee must be employed from 1 July (previously 1 March). The rates per fortnight will drop to $1,200 from 28 September 2020 and then $1,000 from 4 January 2021. A lesser rate of $750 from 28 September 2020 will apply to employees who work for less than 20 hours per week on average and business participants actively engaged in the business for less than 20 hours per week. This lesser rate will drop to $600 from 4 January 2021. Eligibility requirements mean that entities will have to meet additional turnover tests. From 28 September 2020 businesses must meet the 30% decline in actual turnover for the September quarters. From 4 January 2021, the test is for the actual turnover in the December quarters. 12.01.2022 One of the stimulus measures the government has implemented is the cash flow boost for employers. Get a cup of tea or a glass of wine and keep reading (it's long, but thorough) If your business: Had an aggregated annual turnover last year less than $50 million... Held an ABN on 12 March 2020 Made payments to employees that was subject to PAYG withholding (even if the amount withheld was nil) Lodged on or before the 12 March 2020 your 2019 tax return or a BAS for any period after 1 July 2018 and up to 12 March 2020 showing you made a taxable, GST free or input-taxed sale then you may be eligible for this boost. This tax-free boost is between $20,000 and $100,000 and is delivered by way of credits to the activity statement. The initial amount is based on the PAYG withheld (PAYGW) shown on your BAS. If you lodge quarterly then it would be 100% of the PAYGW. If you lodge monthly then you will receive a credit three times the amount of the PAYGW. Eligible businesses will receive a minimum of $10,000 from March to June even if the total withholding is less than $10,000. The amount cannot exceed $50,000. The ATO will automatically credit your account when you lodge your BAS. The amount will be applied to reduce any liabilities raised on the BAS so if a credit remains then generally you will receive a refund. Eligible businesses who receive the initial boost in March will then receive additional credits when you lodge your activity statements for each month or quarter from June 2020. The amounts will be equal to the initial boost received. If you lodge quarterly then the amount will be 50% of the initial amount received. For example, if you received $10,000 for March then you will receive $5,000 credit for June 2020 and $5,000 for September 2020. If you lodge monthly then you receive 25% of the initial credit for June, July, August and September 2020.For example if you received $20,000 credit for March then you will receive $5,000 credit for each month lodged -June, July, August and September 2020. If you need further support on the above, please contact me Email: [email protected]
