23.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE SATURDAY 14TH MARCH 2020 Australia and the world are entering unprecedented territory in the scale and size of the global health pandemic that... is COVID-19. As a branch we are ensuring that we are keeping ourselves updated, educated and responsive to reputable and quality information surrounding the COVID-19 and act in a way to protect the health and safety of our dance community as well as the general population health. General recommendations are for people to be vigilant with their hygiene, monitor changes in health and make informed choices when considering attending events. All sickness and illnesses should be dealt with as you would have previously, with caution (by isolating for the recommended exclusion period). We also ask that if you have a positive test for COVID-19 that you contact your dance teacher directly and promptly so that proactive precautionary actions can be taken. At this point in time our upcoming feisanna are scheduled to proceed as planned and we will put measures in place to reduce health risks. Should this change due to the directions given by the Department of Health, we will pass on this information as soon as humanly possible. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. Stay safe, avoid panic, keep educated & keep your hands clean.

For our upcoming feis we will be presenting each dancer with a certificate and we'd like for these to be extra special and ...mark the occasion of AIDA WA reuniting at a feis! We would like our dancers to submit a small piece of art that we can print on our certificates. There are no age limits we'd love to have as many of our dancers involved as possible. The theme is Irish Dancing in 2020! Send your work to [email protected] and include your name and school by next Monday 17th August. We are so fortunate to be one of the few regions in the world with the ability to hold a feis and to get the opportunity to see our feis friends again! We are busy planning this feis around current Stage 4 restrictions and your teachers will send out further details very soon!

23.01.2022 Sweets of May Feis 22 & 23 May Perth Modern College, entry off Subiaco Road Charmaine Dulley ADCRG (VIC)... The Legend Behind the Sweets of May It is told that an old dancing master in the county of Armagh was returning home on May Eve from a céilí in the early 1800s. As he passed by a fairy rath, he spied the fairies performing this dance. When the dancers reached the clapping movement, all the bell-shaped flowers shook on their stems, ringing in time with the tune. Inspired by the fairies the dance master is said to have created The Sweets of May.

23.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we advise that a decision has been made by the AIDA Inc. Council to cancel the 2020 Australian Championships that was scheduled to... be held in Perth in September/October. This has not been an easy decision as it will be the first time in 53 years that the Australian Irish Dancing Championships will not go ahead. The Federal Government restrictions on mass gatherings and social distancing, gave the Council no alternative but to make the decision to cancel the event for the health and welfare of our community. We can advise that the AIDA Council is working with the Perth Convention Centre to secure dates for the 2021 Australian Irish Dancing Championship event and as soon as these dates have been secured a notification will be sent to the membership. 01.01.2022 AIDA WA is excited to announce that since the recent phase of restrictions has been scheduled, we will hold a Feis on the weekend of the 29th and 30th August. O...ur State Solo and Ceili Championships will be held on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September Venues, syllabus and timetables will be circulated in due course. We are busy working through all the details and ensuring we are working to all current COVID-19 guidelines. Whilst we have had to overcome many obstacles making all arrangements, we thank you all for your support, patience and understanding.
