After pranayama, asanas, and guided meditation some are able to join me for a cuppa, cake and chat I cherish these moments because everyone of them is full of knowledge, love, advice, stories and we all enjoy many laughs together. 10.06.2022 Kids Yoga This week we covered our second Yama - Satya meaning truthfulness. Truthfulness in our thoughts, words and actions and truthfulness to ourselves. We finished our class with a balance activity followed be savasana Why a balance activity? Because many find balancing different so it is important to do in our practice. ... I explained that we are all built so differently. Some of us are flexible, strong, focused and have amazing balance but some do not. I wanted them to be truthful to themselves by accepting the way they are built/made, accepting their limitations, accepting the challenges they face and to be happy and proud of what they accomplished and not compare themselves to others. Some wobbled, and some fell but we spoke kind, encouraging and truthful words to encourage each other to continue on. B.B.B.B is a class that targets every muscle in your body! ... Barre lessons are a combination of ballet inspired moves with elements of dance, yoga and strength training. These classes incorporate a ballet barre and use classic ballet moves such as plies, grand battlements, alongside static stretches. A ballet barre is used for the first half of the class before heading to your yoga mat for balance and strength sequences followed by a belly and butt workout. 10.01.2022 Mandala Activity for kids yoga today. Mandala - The circular design symbolises the idea that life is never ending and everything is connected. Activity - ... I play quiet background music and have everyone sit in a circle. Each yogi places a coloured pencil and button carefully in a circle on the floor. Once this is completed they then quietly come in to the circle and place their feet around the colourful mandala. They then lay back and make a variety of shapes with their arms. This activity teaches young yogis to focus, connect, relax and breathe. I stress to the children that it is supposed to take a long time to create a Mandala so we do not rush. They will think of all things that make them feel happy, safe and loved and glue/stick pictures to one side of their brain (stencil), then they will think of all things that make them feel sad, anxious, frightened or stressed and write those words on the other side of their brain/stencil! We will then go into the studio to arrange a sequence of poses with breath work to help them when they are feeling sad, anxious, pressured or stressed.
